Technology Market / The Winner Of The Award For The Worst Online Store In Nigeria Is… by princecharming: 4:12pm On Jun 24, 2015
Okay, let me say that it’s with no personal hatred or preference for any of these online stores that I write this piece, but just my experience.

Well, we all know that shopping in Nigeria has gotten a whole lot easier with the rise of e-commerce platforms, especially for the really busy professionals like myself.

We can now from the comfort of our office desks, browse websites to find everything we desire from fashion and electronics to even house hold items and in as little as 48 hours sometimes, we can have the items in our hands.

In the past decade, there has been an astronomical rise of online stores or mall as they are commonly called.

With the likes of Konga, Jumia, and Dealdey currently leading in this market space, other platforms like Taafoo, Adibba, Gidimall, and recent entrants Kaymu, have struggled to find their feet.

With the entire world going digital, building a brand is just as easy as killing it via online media, and brands should be very particular about customer service and the value they present their customers.

I have had to shop with almost all of these platforms, and I must say they each have their flaws.

Taafoo has been the most criticized for sale of fake products, which has been a subject in major online discussion forums.

Konga just has a special way of delaying your order and calling you at the last minute to make a different a purchase, as the item you ordered is no longer available at the moment, how should that even be possible?

My advice for shopping on Jumia is to always pay on delivery or rather pick up items from their pick up centre, or you’ll be surprised that the perfectly looking corporate skirt you ordered can only be worn as sleepwear.

I’ll suggest you order actual items on Dealdey and not services, or you discover that special spa treatment for two, is nothing but a fiasco.

Okay let me tell you about my personal experience with one of these platforms,
