INTRODUCTION

The system operates on the concept of utilizing dedicated lanes in areas where competition with highway traffic would be greatest while it makes use of existing highways and roads in areas that are less congested in order to reduce cost. According to the Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority, LAMATA, within the first five years of operations, the BRT system moved more than 400 million passengers.

BUS FRANCHISE SCHEME (BFS)
The Lagos Bus Franchise Scheme BFS was commissioned by His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Fashola in August 2009 to serve as a demonstration of the benefits of a franchised bus operation and an assessment of future risks in the bus public transport sector in Lagos.

The scheme was implemented by Public/Private Partnership (PPP) whereby LAMATA provided the enabling framework and infrastructure comprising bus depot garage, bus terminals, segregated bus ways, bus shelters, road markings and other traffic management measures while the selected private sector operator accepted regulatory enforcement, commitment to procurement of buses, operations and maintenance.

INVESTMENT PROPOSAL
With an average daily load of 800 passengers per bus, the BRT transport business is an ideal lucrative investment. A break-down of our cash flow shows Return on Investment (ROI) in twenty (20) months of operation.

A break-down of N18, 000,000 invested into two (2) buses shows that after the 20th month, monthly revenue from both buses combined gives a total of N1, 800,000 (One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira).
