Lithiumite: An imbecilic whelp like yourself can't decipher not paying enough taxes isn't same as not paying taxes at all, something as basic as this is too difficult for you to comprehend. idiiot, how much are we supposed to pay before ? A country that has the lowest minimum wage and it's citizens are in darkness (worst mw/h per person) in electricity. Say it how much is enough for a greedy govt that does nothing for it's citizens. Even USA is just 16%. China is 11%. Kenya is 7%. But 10% is not enough for a govt raping it's citizens left and right. With a country of 200m people, juxtapose our personal income tax receipts with that of Kenya or SA.
The argument is that our tax net isn't broad enough and we need to do that,I believe that's beyond your cognitive ability. Your Brain will be better off with organ harvesters because you can't even use it. You don't pay tax in Nigeria they deduct it. And they don't give any receipt to you. So they can hire nicampooops like you to gaslight the public into believing they don't pay tax. Each time you deposit money In the bank they deduct vat, make a call they deduct vat, if you receive salary from the govt or any organisation into the bank they deduct their PAYE buy any imported goods and you pay extra for custom duties. Paying tax isnt by choice but by force. It's incorporated into everything and you can't escape it. |

CommonSense1967: Go and calculate Nigeria's percipita under JOnna, they will be about the same as right now.
You are mixing GDP with per capita, 2 different things. lies Nigeria gdp per capita was highest in 2014 at almost $4k now it's less than $1000. And now we're ranked below Ethiopia, Ghana, Angola. |
Politics › Re: Nigeria Not Among Top 15 Richest African Countries (picture) by princemaths: 4:03pm On Nov 09, 2024 |
drstranged: One drawback of the GDP is that it's dependent on a country's population. So the higher a country's population the likely lower the GDP per capita and vice versa. That's what plays out in Seychelles and other smaller countries over there in the list which have populations in only hundreds of thousands compared to Nigeria which has over 200million population but the higher the population the higher the overall gdp. Population is correlated with Gdp. That's why gdp per capita is the best way of measuring wealth. It measures how much each person is entitled to either from earnings or govt benefits. And In Nigeria case it's too low. Less than $100 per month for each person. What a stinking poor country! |
Politics › Re: Nigeria Not Among Top 15 Richest African Countries (picture) by princemaths: 4:00pm On Nov 09, 2024 |
Putinofrussia: True to per capita which deals with population. There are a lot of countries richer than USA using GDP per capita but if it is real GDP,USA leads followed by China. USA is rich but bot the richest country in the world. Those countries with greater GDP per capita are richer. Gdp is like income without considering profits. Gdp per capita is profits. So UK is richer than china despite having lower GDP. Mind you you must not be rich to enjoy a good standard of life. China being poor still have high of living. |

iLoveYouToo: It’s you who should find shame. Google India’s GDP per capita in comparison to Seychelles and Nigeria. We all share in this malaise, as you stated, our largely unproductive population is responsible for this. The fact that I stated the obvious doesn’t imply that Nigeria is in the best place.
The question should be does it really mean Seychelles is richer than India, China and Nigeria?
GDP per capita isn’t the best metric for measuring the wealth of a nation
Lagos state is richer than Seychelles see this fuool. Data shows Seychelles is richer than Nigeria. And your talking about lagos. Even 10 Nigeria not richer than one Seychelles. Seychelles is richer than china, which is richer than India which is richer than Nigeria. You semi illiterates think pollution and overcrowding, and noise making Is equal to riches |

hasn't tinubu launched same student loans you are worshipping those advanced countries for.....rather than appreciate him and urge him to do more, you start castigating him.
Are you aware govt is still paying subsidy on the electricity you use.....those countries you are praising for subsidising basic necessities for their citizens, are you aware how much tax they pay.....govt is trying to initiate tax reforms and it's still same you procrastinating and crying blue murder on how tinubu wants to tax you to death when infact you aren't even paying any tax whatsoever.
It's easier to criticise but very difficult for you to think of how to make things better. [/quote]typical frog eye supporter defending stupidity as usual. Have you checked how much electric bill is in china ? N18 in china compared to N250 per unit in Nigeria. And for the new launched student loan. That is a complete joke. what is the amount loan given to students.? Plus it's not even up to 6 months. Lol. Student loan in the US reach N50 million or $30k per year. Poor people in Us get free food from govt and monthly $800 free benefits. Plus many other credit benefits. You can never go hungry there. In essence all basic things are cheap, if they're not govt pays, subsides it, or loan itBut in Nigeria it's the reverse. even the middle class can't feed Themselves. And yet they still spend all their salaries on bills and taxes with no govt support. And don't quote me saying no tax in Nigeria. That's the biggest gaslighting ever! almost Every country in the world pay taxes including Nigeria.

Lithiumite: Go abroad where electricity is free nah!! You are the reason why many tertiary institutions can't pay their energy bills till date because you were all used to and felt entitled to everything free without wanting to pay that's why everything govt is comatose......if you had been paying what was due and fair,we still wouldn't be complaining about power outages today.
Education is one of the cheapest in Nigeria that's the problem that govt has been having with doctors who train here for almost free and then take their expertise abroad to benefit another society in the name of greener pastures, which ever side you decide to look at it,they both have a point.
You want govt to provide petrol, education, health, jobs, free roads etc but don't ever want to pay tax. keep quiet, nothing is free or cheap in Nigeria. electricity is cheaper in advanced countries Singapore and china is way higher than in Nigeria. What you call cheap education is just the entire school cost broken down to give illusion you're paying less. After paying tuition fees you'll still pay hostel, feeding, and buy materials. Most of you here are very ignorant. No country goes far without subsiding basic necceistiy of life for it's citizens. As rich as USA it still pays subsidy on fuel, offer long term students loans, and gives many social benefits and credit to it's Citizens. But you guys want to kill Nigerians with billing without any cushioning effect and have audacity to gaslight them they're not paying enough. |

nairalanda1: So, how do you think the refineries and the power sector depreciated over the years?
It was because at the end of the day, all of us were not paying market price for both the petrol we consumed and the power we consumed.
(Oga, I am going to have to ask you to forget politics, forget APC vs PDP. I am not here to defend tinubu, atiku, or anyone here. I am not here to defend evil or inefficency. This is the result of ten years of reading around the thing).
Right now power costs N160-70 to make one kwh. Except for Band A consumers who pay at least N200 and above, most consumers pay below N100. Add the fact that about 40% of Nigerians are not paying for the power they use...whether they get it for 24 hours a day, or 6 hours a day.
And add the fact that the problem has been going on for decades. Add the fact that since 1980, in the name of electrifiying Nigeria, hundereds of rural communites who cannot afford to pay for power, even at discounted rate, have been connected to the grid...overloading it and causing issues.
IN 2004-6, i was a student living off campus in a residence where there were 30 students from university and a poly. Of the 30 of us, only 6 were paying electricity bills regularly. SIX. Me inclusive. It was not like I had the money.
And with attitudes like this youe xpect there to be light? You expect there to be enough money for discos and gencos to buy poles , transformers, wires? Or na by magic dem go find the money?
I have been shouting this on this site, and all people can do is get abusive, because I am insensntive?
WOULD YOU WORK HARD IF YOUR BOSS PAID YOU ONE QUARTER YOUR SALARY FROM NEXT MONTH, AND KEPT DOING IT.?
And all the corruption you yap about is as a result of the massive underpaying we do to our power sector. LIke estimated billing...it is done by discos to rip off their consumers because if they don't do it, they would collapse financailly.
Infact shoot, 3 of them have already collapsed. Debts. One even declared force maejure.
Meanwhiile there is light 24/7 in other countries...because they pay market price for power. Yes even in Ivory coast which has all the problems NIgeria has...corruption , looting leaders, tribal divisions, etc. But because they properly privatised....they have light.
Yet pointing all this out means I must be agbado.
NIgerians keep on living in denial. Youre a liar apc lieing machine. light is currently more expensive in Nigeria than Cote divorce. And nothing like band in Nigeria. Everyone is paying same rate. How many times are you going to lie on this same thing on this place.? You better tell us the truth you're been paid 25k to promote lies Instead of all this shit.
