Education › Girls Have The Ability To Do Well In Education Than Guys by Professor1234(op): 10:26am On Feb 19, 2015 |
As the new school year ramps up, teachers and parents need to be reminded of a well- kept secret: Across all grade levels and academic subjects, girls earn higher grades than boys. Not just in the United States, but across the globe, in countries as far afield as Norway and Hong Kong. This finding is reflected in a recent study by psychology professors Daniel and Susan Voyer at the University of New Brunswick. The Voyers based their results on a meta-analysis of 369 studies involving the academic grades of over one million boys and girls from 30 different nations. The findings are unquestionably robust: Girls earn higher grades in every subject, including the science-related fields where boys are thought to surpass them. Less of a secret is the gender disparity in college enrollment rates. The latest data from the Pew Research Center uses U.S. Census Bureau data to show that in 2012, 71 percent of female high school graduates went on to college, compared to 61 percent of their male counterparts. In 1994 the figures were 63 and 61 percent, respectively. In other words, college enrollment rates for young women are climbing while those of young men remain flat. This begs a sensitive question: Are schools set up to favor the way girls learn and trip up boys? Let’s start with kindergarten. Claire Cameron from the Center for the Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning at the University of Virginia has dedicated her career to studying kindergarten readiness in kids. She’s found that little ones who are destined to do well in a typical 21st century kindergarten class are those who manifest good self-regulation. This is a term that is bandied about a great deal these days by teachers and psychologists. It mostly refers to disciplined behaviors like raising one’s hand in class, waiting one’s turn, paying attention, listening to and following teachers’ instructions, and restraining oneself from blurting out answers. These skills are prerequisites for most academically oriented kindergarten classes in America —as well as basic prerequisites for success in life. As it turns out, kindergarten-age girls have far better self- regulation than boys. A few years ago, Cameron and her colleagues confirmed this by putting several hundred 5 and 6- year-old boys and girls through a type of Simon-Says game called the Head-Toes-Knees- Shoulders Task. Trained research assistants rated the kids’ ability to follow the correct instruction and not be thrown off by a confounding one— in some cases, for instance, they were instructed to touch their toes every time they were asked to touch their heads. Curiously enough, remembering such rules as “touch your head really means touch your toes” and inhibiting the urge to touch one’s head instead amounts to a nifty example of good overall self- regulation.
It can also be noted that Girls are doing well in International Competition and educational programmes while Guys remains Local Champion. ADD YOUR VIEW |

FunkySilver: If 30cm3 of a gas at 323k is warmed to 353k at a fixed pressure, the fractional increase in volume is a.0.910 b.0.009 c.1.090 d.0.093 Very cheap since V1/T1 = V2/T2 , 30/323 = V2/353, V2=32.7863, increase in Volume= 32.7863-30 = 2.7863. Thus Fractional increase in Volume= 2.7863/30 = 0.0928 ~ 0.093 |

1. Protons and neutrons are made up of smaller elementary particles called "quarks". Electron is just one of the so many elementary particles
2. Charges depend on which type of quark. E.g Up-type Q has charge + 2 / 3, down-type Q has - 1/3. Their charges are fractional.
3. Energy level 2
4. It is used in describing d spectral lines emissions of hydrogen atom using the six balmer's series.
5. Dark bottles prevent the H20 2 from reacting with light which can break it down.
6. Courtois and Balard respectively.
7. I dunno this.
8. Oxime
9. Molecules are superimposable if after placing them on top of one another they still give the same molecule. Enantiomers don't work this way so they are not superimposable.
10. Akynes undergo substitution reaction because of their high electronegativity. gud, not all Alkyne undergo substitution reaction only the terminal Alkyne |

P0lyMath: If proton, neutron n electron formed atom, then what formed those discrete particles that formed the atoms?
what is their charge?
balmer's series of hydrogen spectrum can be seen in what energy level?
what's the nature of the balmer's spectrum?
why is hydrogen peroxide stored in dark bottles?
who re those that discovered bromine and iodine respectively?
another name for optical isomers is?
the reaction between alkanal and hydroxlamine gives what?
are enantiomers super imposable?,give reason for the ans
does terminal alkyne undergo substitution reaction?.give reason for the ans....
it's ten questions...... and will be my last question …
FIGHTING ==> Reaction between Alkanal and hydroxyalamine yield Oximes. . ===> Balmer series can be seen in the second energy level. .===>The nature of Balmer series include it has 4 possible light which include red, indigo, violet and ultralight colour which all have a wavelength of about 400pm and to the nearest 700pm. It usually jump from the series of Higher energy closest to the nucleus to the lowest. . ===> Iodine and bromine discover by Courtois and Balard . ===> H202 can easily be oxidized on exposure to air/sunlight so it is stored in Amber Bottle lined with Dark component . ==> enantiomer are stereoisomer that are non superimposable without the mirror light image lyk a racemic mixture(i.e mixture of dextrotary and laevorotary). So they are non super imposable because they can't exactly look alike even if they slide over each oda i.e No mirror like images . ==> Terminal Alkyne undergo substitution reaction a typical example can be seen in dia reaction with AgN03 to form white ppt. It distinguish btw terminal alkyne and alkene . . ===> A set of optical isomers is Called enantiomers |

1. Given that CosZ =L, where Z is an acute angle, find an expression for (CotZ - CosecZ )/(SecZ +TanZ )
2.Find there numbers in G.P whose sum is 28 and whose product is 512.
3. Find the derivative of Y with respect to X If Y=√{(1+ x )/(1- x ) Where √=square root
FIGHTING Number 2, a/r x a x ar = a^3 = 512 , thus 8/r + 8 + 8r =28, thus 8r^2 + 8r + 8 = 28r , so quadractically r=1/2 or r=2. Thus the value are 8/2,8,8x2 i.e 4,8,16. The gp is 4,8,16 |

Pes13: Pls help me with dis question
A boy throws a stone up to a height of 10m and catches it back. Assume the hand remains at the same level at throw and at catch, what is d displacement of d stone
(a) 10m (b) 20m (c) 30m (d) 0m
Explanation will be appreciated. Tnxs The Total distance it travelled without specify direction is 10m + 10m = 20m The Displacement is Equivalent to 0m because displacement need to be express with direction... Mind you whenever an Object move from a point and return to that point the Displacement will always be Zero since displacement equals to differences between final point and the intial point in this case 10m-10m = zero |
