Bro thanks as I do appreciate ur response. How long does it takes to open that at dorm acct at GTB if I open now? how much will I have to have to get it activated? Then how do I send the fees to the school from the accout. Please brief prof
When I did my own then, it was $100 deposit I don't know of now. And mine took about a week or so. And to send the fees, if you have the school details thats the account name and number along with the intermediary bank details (if there is any) then you can either use Internet banking or go to the bank and collect forex transfer request form and fill then submit within hours your account will be debited and your telex copy in 24 hours or there about

Please prof. The school said I can only transfer my fees through bank transfer not western union and I was told to try GTB.Please if there is anyone paying fees for TRNC should late me know how there payment is done. And this Form A is over 2 weeks now or is GTB faster?
GTB dorm transfer is the best. When i filled the forex request transfer form and submitted, I was debited 6hours later and 24hours later, I collected my telex copy. By then school had already contacted me that they have gotten my payment so the telex was just a copy I had to just go and collect as evidence incase

Have you done NDLEA before? If so, how did you quicken the process?

What is the acceptable minimum deposit that should be available in the account. Also, how long does it take to get the NDLEA certificate.
For statement I don't really know but try have something good sha. How long did your invitation take before it was out from the migration service office? NDLEA, I heard it takes up to a month or even more but try go to their office and see if you can work things out so not to waste time. All the best bro

grin cheesy Imagine the world without boundaries wink
grin grin the best thing that can happen in the world is dumping the international passport for a new id that is just every man for himself because stereotyping is becoming way too much. Not all nigerians are bad abroad but the actions of just a few are being used to tie down 180 million others. Now nigerians can just travel across ecowas nations and just a few others free. Imagine.

Ok prof I now understand you.I will get back to you as things unfold. Thanks a lot because this form A is waste of time.
If you have submitted your form A request then make sure you go back to the bank and meet the officer you submitted it to and tell him/her to close the transaction else like a month later they can go and withhdraw the money that is if your bid is accepted

@ prof.Am not clear from this line "( when you get home get a paper and copy the dollars number given to them by the reserve bank then head to your bank)" will give me the number along the dollar or what? the please explain that line...I don't realli get that. Also I hope the bank will not charge me much for the transfer,1000 dollars.
What I mean by that is for just security and legal purposes. Incase of anything at least you know the number of the dollar you gave. No the number is on the dollar it is usually for example HB123456D and so on just that serial number on each note. For the charges really I can't say but you can ask at the bank hall there

@ prof. The school accept western union but Please how do I go about getting this dollar cos its really expensive at bank.I don't know how to go about it and I don't want to be carrying money all around and avoid being scam. Please enlighten me
Ok if they do that is easier then, if you want to purchase dollars from the black market then keep your money at home, first find a legitimate place where you know is where all this aboki change money, if you are sure of the place like in lagos, mmia they are there and have been there for a long time you can use that one. Then you can take your money there and change and codedly leave there atleast go with someone you trust that is matured when you get home get a paper and copy the dollars number given to them by the reserve bank then head to your bank for western union transaction fill the form and submit.

Bro, have you submitted your application, if yes, how did you go about it.
I already have admission letter but I don't know how to go about arranging the documents for the application.

@FBS, your input will be greatly appreciated
Not yet but by first week of September by special grace of God but usually the procedure is after admission, you also need an invitation letter. You can request for that from the school unlike my school that you must pay tuition before they process it, but mine has been settled and they have submitted my invitation to the migration service office. After getting your invitation, you also need police deportation certificate and also police character certificate which can be gotten from the CID office either I garki abuja or alagbon ikoyi lagos, then your NDLEA certificate which is the most difficult but for it contact NDLEA office in your state of residence and find out. Then your waec certificate have to be legalized by the ministry of foreign affairs and education then also you will need to legalize it at the russian embassy which cost about 13500 or there about. After that fill the application form online, copy of data page, passport photographs (2), birth certificate legalized by MFA also, then medical test result for HIV, travel insurance valid in russia for atleast 3 months you can get that from iGI, mansard, conerstone or leadway insurance or any good insurance company you know. Then bank statement for the last six months, receipt of consular fee payment, admission/acceptance letter.

With these, you are good to go but still FBS will know better as he has already passed through it. Hope it helps. All the best bro!!

But many can not afford to buy on the black market!
Yeah some cannot but even the form A is not cheap because now interbank rate is between 318-320 naira to a dollar. And takes time and it doesn't come with assurance. You can wait for 3 weeks and at the end of the day, your bid is turned down.

bro sorri 4 d late response.I used first bank because the form A is available there but its taken them time to make my pamyent. They have to wait for authorization from CBN to do that and that is wasting my own time to pay my fees.
Form A is a waste of time. Mine took 5weeks with no response. I just went back to the bank, asked them to close the transaction, bought my dollars from the black market and deposited in my GTBANK dorm account, filled the forex transfer request form and submitted. Within six hours my account was debited and my telex copy in 24 hours.

I heard the Russia embassy in Lagos has been closed. How true is this and what could be the reason behind the closure?
Yeah I read it on their missions site. I asked someone but I got two reasons though. He said its due to the current economic crisis in russia because of Western sanctions so the government is cutting its budget spending in some ministries there. Secondly he said it can also be lack of customers as russia is not as popular as USA,UK CANADA and other western nations who are much being preferred by nigerians. But sha, the russian government knows better. Go to the one available

If that is the case then I'm surprised you even raised the question. Whether to pay or not. That one is already decided.

If I'm not mistaken, we've touched on the subject of the school itself and cost of accommodation. So, yes from Internet reviews, it looks a good one.

What to keep in mind generally is that this is not the West. Studying and working at the same time is a different story entirely.

PS; You mean you bought $2660 for 1m??
Yeah I know. I intend studying alone not work atleast with the little I have from my livestock farming and that of my parents in naija I can survive just that with time I will love to establish a business there maybe a restaurant or something cool pending on how the place is.... Yed I bought $2660 for 1000160 @ 376 to a dollar. See bro things are hard here in naija.

Sure Economics and finances plays a big part in our decision making.. But remember cheap does not mean good and expensive by no means equates to better. The task is to find value for our money.

If the payment is mandatory then obviously you have no other option else the invitation won't be issued, right?
Yes. They won't issue it so I have to pay to get it. I know someone who did it and is in the school now. I think they started doing that to avoid students using them as an option if another doesn't work out. Definitely they know when your money is with them, you will come. Concerning the quality of education, from Internet research and from people sha, I heard the school is okay. It is one of the top ranked university in russia, bricks, euc or so and number 701 in QS world university rankings. But if you can also help me also with some information about the school I would appreciate. The name is Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny novgorod - National Research University

If the contract does not say a part payment is mandatory, then why bother? If on the other hand you feel like it..as in locking down your application so to say, then fine. ...
What I always people ask though is this, why Russia?
The payment is mandatory. Why russia? I am not really that interested in russia but my dad said I must go there, that his friends there told him all is fine only if I begin to follow bad company over doing things there and that dollar is expensive now, he can't afford us uk or canada, today I bought just 2660 for 1m 160naira at bureau de change. Imagine and we are two going to the university abroad in my house now

Does the contract say you have to make full payment?
No. But whatever I pay as advance, if I send them the telex copy, they will begin preparation for my invitation and visa support letter, but if I did not get visa, they shall refund my money but 80% of the money as the 20% goes as part of charges they spent while preparing my invitation and sending it. But the payment must not be less than $1500 abi it is $2000 I think
