prosper388: I got to the embassy by 6am. We were around like 40 as I estimated. I didn't spend up to 2 hours standing and waiting. Me: Good morning VO: Good morning, your passport and I-20 Me: (passed both to him) VO: your DS-160 and place your 4 fingers on the machine. Me: (I did everything he told me to do) VO: why are you going to the US? Me: I am going for a master’s degree in petroleum engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette VO: why this school? Me: UL has a centre for optimization of petroleum system which aligns with my research interest and I was also given full funding. VO: did you apply to other schools and name them? Me: I applied to Louisiana state university, University of Kansas, University of Oklahoma, Texas Tech University and this University of Louisiana at Lafayette VO: where do you currently work? Me: I work as a performance analyst at TradeDepot Limited VO: Trade what Me: TradeDepot VO: what do they do there? Me: It's a retail distribution company and I work as a performance analyst. VO: so how does this correlate with petroleum engineering? Me: (at this point, I was lost; I didn't know what to say again) I wanted to start explaining how I love data science and Artificial Intelligence before the VO cut in.. VO: wait, what did you study in your undergraduate? Me: (looking for how to regain my confidence back) I graduated with a first-class degree in petroleum engineering (me adding the ”first-class” to convince the VO that I understand the course quite well) VO: (looking convinced) are you married? Me: No VO: any kids? Me: No VO: types to like a minutes and says, ”I will be approving your visa”. Me: (while VO was typing, I said, ”Lord let your will be done”) I noticed a lot from people that were denied and I easily predicted that the VOs weren't convinced. A lady was asked why she chose a school and she said, ”the school offers a lot of courses”. The VO was like, so other universities don't have several courses? At that point, she sensed she was going to be denied. Another guy with funding was asked who pays the rest, he said his bro. VO asked what his bro does, he said the bro works so so so and has a farm and does this and that. The VO didn't look convinced because it looked like the guy was beating around the bush. Tips: once you have full funding, you already have a 95% chance of your getting approved; you just need to be confident and add the God factor. If you have deficit, please try to clearly state what your sponsor does. Thanks to everyone who has dropped his or her transcript here and those that give answers. Also thanks to my friend, Matluck and my two Gees, Kg and Karen. 20 Likes 1 Share |

Koskos95: ”What does your mum do?” He wasn't convinced enough that she can pay for the funding. Notice that people without funding that said their parents are civil servants hardly convince the VO to issue them visas. So the main problem came from what your mum does. 1 Like |

Peacock1234: I don't think this transcript is complete. I feel there are other things you didn't include. Once a VO asks who's sponsoring and you state the person, the next question is what does the person do? That question is always a must and that's the part VO denies visas a lot. |

fairheart: From my guess, I think they were just 30 slots per day. When I chose my date, I saw 7:00am (9) which indicated 9 slots left. When I booked and got the appointment pdf, I saw 7:00am (22) which I feel the 22 indicated I was the 22nd person to book that day slot. Note: all these are assumptions. 6 Likes |

Okay lemme post mine. This embassy people are just eating our money for no reason. Trust me those VOs are really heartless except for one young lady that stays in window 9 in Abuja embassy. The man is window 8 uses just 15 seconds to give out pink while the woman in window 9 takes time to listen to you. She gave out to 75% of the people she interviewed while that man gave like 5% only. My interview was on the 13th of September that's two days ago. Before 13th other students going for this same competition about 3 that were lucky to go to window 9 were given visa. After the first the two Ddnt even need to talk much immediately they mentioned the competition the woman gave them the white print. Other students that went to window 6,7 and 8 were denied instantly. So Sept 13th we were 15 students from different schools that had interview that day. Lucky a student had gone in very early he was lucky to get window 9 he got his visa. So it was remiaining the 14 of us. We were interviewed around 11. Unluckily the woman in window 9 wasn't on seat anymore. So we were shared to different windows. I was given window 7 which had a black American. VO: passport (I gave it to her) Vo: why are u traveling Me: I told her bla bla bla. Told her I was in final year currently working on my final year project (note this is supposed to be something that will bring me back cos a friend of mine got his visa last year because of the project he mentioned he was working on) Vo: wow, what's your project topic? Me: prediction of solution gas oil ratio in saturated reservoirs using neural networks. Vo: can u explain it to me? Me: I explained everything Vo: who's sponsoring? Me: I told her and I handed her the letter from the organization and the bank statement (last year I was rejected after handing the bank statement to the VO in Lagos cos it was as if the money in the account was too small to take care of 15 students that were going last year) Vo: (looking surprised cos the money in the account was very big) why would they give you such a confidential bank statement. Don't u know this is very confidential, was there not a better way of them to do this? Me: (looking surprised at the question she's asking because she seeing the bank statement is supposed to tell her I won't be stranded in US, but because she Ddnt want to give me the visa and had no question to ask again she asked that) that's the bank statement from the organization it's a prove of the organization sponsoring. Vo: (thinks for like a minute) then gives me the pink print All this while other VOs have already rejected other of my guys going by asking them questions like are u married? Said no and he was given pink print. I had the longest interview I feel nothing disqualified me they just ddnt want to give to us. It was so painful to the organization I will advice anyone going to Abuja embassy to avoid window 6 and 8. Window 9 woman is the best. Very generous 2 Likes |

Hello guys, This is my first time posting here but I have been following this thread. I applied for a B1/B2 visa I will be going for my visa interview next week Thursday in Abuja. Am going to Texas for a conference to represent Africa region in a competition alongside my team members. It's a competition of five players. Five schools from Nigeria will be going. We won the competition last year where I also represented my school but everyone from my school was denied visa last year. Just two students of the five got from another school and they represented Africa well by coming second. With the determination again we won this year. So we are to travel to Texas for the finals. Last year during my interview, it was at Lagos. I had a lovely conversation with the VO. She was interested in the competition I told her more about it and how we qualified she was like wow interesting. We had a conversation for like 3 minutes where I tut I was gonna get it even my teammates tut I would get it because of the way the conversation was going. But to my surprise I was denied. Already two students from one of the five schools going were denied visa this week. I need advice on how to go about the interview this year so as not to get denied again. Cuz it's really heartbreaking after preparing something long for a competition then you get denied. |
