Good morning, I humbly seek the input of professionals i.e Doctors and Nurses in the house.

I am in my early 30s, married and I have 3 kids. For some months now, I noticed I have been having abdominal pain, left side to be precise. There was a time I went to a Catholic hospital to complain about the tiny pinching pain that goes and comes back.

I was given some antibiotics, the pain left but still came back. I changed my hospital to another one, so on Friday I decided to complain to another doc at my new hospital and he pressed my stomach, I didn't feel any pain but when he hit my lower back gently with a fist, I had little pain. I was asked to do a urine test, and the doctor examined the result and said it was fine and okay. He said he will have to treat me for bile load nephritis or something. I asked if it's something serious or I should be worried, he said no.

He then requested I do a total abdominal scan to do a thorough examination, which will be done soon. Then placed me on flaggyl, gentamicin injection 3 per day for 3 days,vitc 1000g, doxycycline tablet. I will finish the injection today. What really scared me was that he asked, are you married, I said yes. Then he said your wife will have to be treated too.

I want to tell you that the pain has reduced even before finishing the dugs and injections, but I am really worried, WHAT I'M I BEEN TREATED FOR?

The doctor who is presently seeing you isn't doing bad. His differentials are apt and he needed the urine test to nail 1 exactly but it wasnt definitive, still he advanced.
His goof here was not briefing you on your state of health and give you sufficient info. Meanwhile, it is your right to ask.
He most likely mentioned pyelonephritis (not bile load nephritis). So, next time you go there for injection, seek his audience and confirm this. Also, ask him whatever might be bothering you.

After every consultation, you are entitled to a briefing on a doctor's assessments and line of care, then a room for you to ask questions. This may not be possible in most govt hospitals in Nigeria because a doctor is seeing patients that 10-20 doctors should be seeing. There are more than enough patients waiting outside to see him and such time for talks would be enough to reduce the queue. This is sad really but that's the sorry state of our system.

On his question about your marital status, your sexual partner(s) can contract the stuff from you and he is trying to prevent re-infection. A case whereby ur wife might have been a host to it already. If he treats you alone, you will go back home to carry it again. Afterall, no one asks a married man to give up his marital "snacks".

However, I will add that his target can be achieved if and only if you do not have women you're "seeing" apart from your wife, because if you do, you're at constant risk of contracting it again and again.

On a deeper thought, I think his offer is fair and I'll implore you to give it a thought. I must commend him for this offer.

If within 4days you have actually spent up to 100k on a supposed toks, accept the refund, even if it doesn't cover d full expenses incurred so far, and move on.
You wouldn't know what else would need fixing pretty soon.
It's better you count ur losses when they're minimal.

If you however think moving on with the uncertainty of what might happen next is better, I am being tempted to believe that the car is fine, just that you're annoyed at his poor communication.

On the 27th, I did a kind of follow up, still no reply. Till today 29th, no reply.
The most annoying part is that you'll be seeing him online.

But with this Codyella's experience, I'm off. Dealing with someone who is willing to listen anytime is better biko.
