I have copied excerpts from last nights meeting between the president and the leadership of the national assembly.

We must ensure we hold our leaders to account. While Buhari is apologizing for the action of members of the executive arm, you are here making excuses for him.

Buhari will leave and You and I will be the ones that will be affected by their inaction.

Are you aware that Buhari directed all ministers and agencies to go and defend their budgets before the national assembly just yesterday after meeting with the leadership of the national assembly?

So were you expecting the national assembly to pass the budget without defence by the executive arm of government? The problem here is that we are not holding the executive arm responsible to do their own part of the budgeting process.

If you believe that Buhari has done so well to earn a reelection, the order of election shouldn't throw him off balance, don't you think? Only the guilty is afraid.

Buhari will lose and nothing will happen. He lost 3 times in the past and heavens did not fall.

If you are thinking about the future of our democracy (And not about an individual - Buhari), then you should be happy that the more we widen the scope of the political space to accommodate lesser known parties that do not have the financial muscle to rig elections, the better for our Democratic survival.

What concerns the legislature?
Well, it is their duty to make laws for the good of the country and its future survival, and are not elected to babysit Buhari and his personal political ambition.

I see no selfishness, rather I see the opportunity it would afford lesser known political parties to win some seats.
If it will not affect the outcome of the election as you said, why then is the President jittery and his loyalists at the national assembly claiming that it was aimed at the president?

It only points to the fact that this reordering will change the face of our elections and Democratic experience for ever should it happen, which is why the presidency is kicking very hard against it.

Good question.

It encourages here mentality. Once the presidential election is done, people lose interest in every other election. This is one of the reasons we have highly incompetent persons as lawmakers because there is no interest from the people to participate at that level.

However, if major awareness is created starting with the legislative elections, you will find situations where even unknown parties could win one or two seats. This will never be the case should the presidential elections come first as the defeatist mode sets in and whichever party wins the presidential would have a field day.
We need diversity to check the executive arm and deepen the Democratic experience.

A fatal accident which happened early this morning at RTC on Owerri road, Onitsha area of Anambra state - has left residents in a mourning mood.. According to reports, one female child was killed and one other person injured injured in the process of the crash.

The accident reportedly occurred after a 40ft container fell from an articulated vehicle and caused havoc in the area.

Road safety officials arrived the scene after the accident to contain the huge traffic which was caused by the incident.

The corpse of the little girl has been evacuated.
