omega25red: well if you restore it to a time before the virus infection then your programs should be alright i think. anyway its worth a try. i have done that before for a computer that picked up a new virus and one of those anti virus programs totally gutted the computer. system restore fixed the broken programs for me.

omega25red: instead of doing factory restore, why not do a system restore which would move your computer back to a previous date preferably a date before the virus infection.

This of course is assuming that you have setup system restore dates on your computer. Also you can always go to the Microsoft office program in control panel's uninstall or change programs and attempt to have it repair itself.

you do this by actting like you want to uninstall the program and it will give you a choice to either repair or remove. Choose repair and see what happens

Hi everyone. I have HP notebook, window 7. It got infected by virus recently, so i used the in- boot scan to flush it out. I use Avast antivirus. Unfortunately, programs like microsoft word, excel, etc no longer work and i'm unable to install new programs. Should i restore the factory settings? And if i do, would it restore everything back and can i install new programs after the restoration? Please, i really need your help.

The stingy network stole my #100.. God help them if they didn't refund my money!!
