Russia will protect Iran with all their might, because that's the only way people will buy more of Russian Oil, if there is scarcity. Russia's Oil and Nigerian are the biggest producers that do not traffic through the strait of Hormuz.

All these your permutations can only work if Iran is capable enough to close the strait for long, Donald Trump and Israel will hit them so hard.
