All these minorities...how is the witchcraft manufacturing place better

Look at your Benin city...a thread was dedicated to your terrible GRA ....https://www.nairaland.com/4789765/disgraceful-state-roads-gra-benin-city

Come on na.
This two pictures is not GRA in Benin but in the city though.
The first pix, I'm not so sure where but the second is Aduwawa road.

During Oshiomole's regine, he deliberately did not touch the roads in GRA. He made a statement that, GRA has big men with big cars who have monies and can do their roads themselves. Also, he said the poor masses voted him and not the GRA guys.

Still, Benin GRA is an old location. The city is developing and spreading wide. We now have structures extending from the Old GRA to Ugbor, Amagba and down Sapele roads.

I know you are an Igbo man living in Lagos state.

It's me and that your useless south east region in this forum.

Habaa!
Please don't be driven by hate, it will consume you.
You even went far by inscribing your moniker with the the name of the same people you dispise.

Anyways, I'm from the south and also live down here.

Come on, what about if you woke up one morning and your mother woke told you she actually had you from an Igbo man. How would you feel?

I know, it's impossible or sound like Nollywood but think about it

1. I won’t sugar coat my experience just because I want some random person to feel good. It was my experience, not anybody’s.
2. I’ve been on Nairaland for over 10 years. You’ve barely spent 2 days(at least judging by your moniker). I have absolutely nothing to prove to you. It’s your plate of beans to believe or not, it doesn’t change anything nor my experience.

Let this matter rest, move on Benin man.

Brother, this is not a fight but a healthy debate.
I'm not new here either, I've been on nairaland since 2009 and do have alot of topics on front page. I just did not want to have this controversies on my profile because I promote a service here.

I understand it’s your hometown or whatever but there’s absolutely no need scrambling to defend the hometown much more claiming I’m lying and exaggerating.

I have absolutely nothing to gain by lying or exaggerating on a faceless forum. My post was simply my opinion based off my personal experience, not public or popular opinion, so you shouldn’t be offended by my opinion.

I maintain that Benin city ranks low amongst the over 15 cities I’ve been to in Nigeria, based off of my experience.

Thanks and peace

I understand you bro, it's your own experience but the way you put it can have someone having ill feelings about the city.

Just like how foreigners now think of our county; their chances of survival coming here is between being blast by bombs from Boko Haram or being kidnapped and the funny part is that, our own people who left the country just few years ago are beginning to think this same way. Having thought the whole country is like that and by the snap of the finger boom!

I have a friend who left few years ago and now live in the UK. He wanted to visit home soon and called me asking if it's safe for him to come and that he doesn't want to be caught in a bomb blast or being kidnapped or killed in stray bullet.

I just told him if he doesn't want to come he should stay back and stop acting like we are living in a jungle down here (I knw some people will say, we sure are).

Anyways, the message is, a place is still beautiful no matter the challenges and vices but my bro, you did exaggerate about my city

lie kill you there. Someone that just open his account today and just have just 2 posts.

It's obvious the stupid Mandy news is using another moniker

Come on man, I just told you I live in the father's street (Uwuigbe) and you want me to expose my identity here. Man, you're smarter than that.

For the record, if you are still in doubt. I believe you are base in Benin too. You can take a stroll down Sapele road and stop at Mosco, that's Uwuigbe street junction. You can take the street down, for the father's house is way inside and the street is very long.

Look for a kiosk with few people and stop by to sip a drink. Engage in whatever discussion and gain some acceptance as you talk along. In some minutes time, throw out this Oba young wives talk and act smartly to unveil the truth for yourself.

Please do this professionally and discreetly.

Also, you said I'm Mandy news with a new moniker, wow!
And you began throwing insult. You're bigger than that my friend or please don't tell me you're still a teenager.

All the same, I just gave you a chance to dig up things yourself and stop being blind folded or acting in self denier.
Ciao

Let me talk on this.
I have live here all my life and I can say there are some truth in what you said but only that you exarate too far and did not say things as they are.

You lived in GRA, that is one of the finest place to live in the state. Good thing you moved around also to have a feel of the city.

Anyways, seeing dead bodies is not a common thing here. Although, the corpses might be some dead mad man as the local council are slow in removing corpses sometimes until been alerted and disturbed by residents.
I believe the corpses were not linked to cult wars for police do evacuate the bodies almost immediately but you did see the bodies decomposing which do validate my first option (dead mad man).

Also, I would like to ask you if apart of the two bodies you saw during your first week in the city, did you see another again during your one year stay?

For your other displeasure, Infrastructure thing is a nationwide epidemic in Nigeria. Please check Abuja national stadium and other national monuments we have and tell me more on infrastructural decay. Yes, the state have some but it's not peculiar to Benin city alone.

Benin has cultist but not everyone here is a member. Some areas are known predominantly for the cult activities and killings. You stayed in (GRA) which has no slight bit of that, not now and never in the past. But area such as Sokponba (upper) is a haven for cultism and almost all the city cult killings is done there.

Yes, yahoo Boys are many here. Hence no much job and also for the fact that alot of the city indigenes are based abroad, so the boys are easily granted tools in persuading their victims and have the money sent to America, Europe or Asia to their guys there instead of it coming down here with a trace.
Still, alot of youth here are entrepreneurs and office workers who do legitimate jobs.

Policing here is a lucrative job for the corrupt, hence the statement (if you be police and dem post u to Benin, if you nor turn rich, you nor fit rich for life again)
Yes, police make a lot of money from boys as public harassment of checking your phone or laptop is common and once any incriminating stuff is found, money settlement is discussed next.
But this also is noticed in Lagos, Abuja, Asaba, Ibadan, Ogbomosho and other yahoo Boys town.

And for Italy, alot of the people here have at least a family member there but now, Italy has become an old gist and people no longer travel there as before. Currently, you hardly found people discuss going there but instead boys are moving to Ghana, Malaysia, South Africa and Turkey. Mostly for the yahoo Boys but the legit hustling ones are still going everywhere in Europe and America to have a better life. Just say the people love foreign countries and not Italy in particular.

Come on, the era of junction sacrifice (Izobo) is gone. Kudos to Pa Benson Idahosa of blessed memory. You hardly see a junction with sacrifice now not to talk of a place as GRA.

And for the church you saw with a red rope is called Holy Aruosa and that is the Oba's Church just like the Queen of England has her own Church. And yes, things are done traditionally in the church.

And for doing business here. It's the best than looking for a job here. The city has too much money to spend on fabulous lifestyle and if your got the service, bring it here, you will make it!
The city has too much eateries, clubs, hotels, bars and all the fun places littered everywhere and yet, no where begs for patronage.

Thank you and please do say the whole truth next time

philip0906:

I lived in Benin for about a year in 2017. I have been to quite a good number of states in both the south, east, north and west- Benin city ranks bottom on my list. I stayed in GRA but my nature of visit made me move around town a lot.

My first week in Benin city, I saw 2 dead and decomposing bodies on the road in broad day light-along ikpoba hill and Sakpomba(not sure about the spelling). I had never seen dead and decomposing bodies all my life, prior to that.

The infrastructure is almost non existent-Roads and all.

Social vices were a norm. Almost every young man in Benin city is a cultist, a fraudster or both: Reason kpor kpor no get joy for there. The young girls? They are either planning to go to Italy or are into runs. I heard the word “Italy” more than I had ever heard my whole life. It was more like an epidemic!

I saw sacrifices and juju more than I had seen my whole life. I saw a church landed property, laced around with red rope. I was told it was juju.

Things wey man eye see for that way, I had to tell my friend I had come help setup his business that I was leaving. It felt like my life was moving backwards.

Hey Mr man enough of the self denier stuff. If your don't know you better investigate and ask questions.

I'm a bini by tribe and I've live all my life here.
The said girl lived in my area then (her family house) Uwuigbe Street, Off Sapele road.

The girl was pointed by the Oba in Kings Square (Ring Road) during one of his coronation days as a part of a traditional rite.

She was taken right from that day and never went back home.

He married her afterwards by sending reps to the family and some months later, they came and marry the younger sister too. I don't know why and here you don't ask much question but simply take things as they are (always royal) to the core.

I wondered why the information never saw the light of day even with the sophistication of our social media now, but wow! At least people are talking about it now.

So my friend dig around and find the truth for yourself and stop wallowing in denial.

This happened and I witnessed it.

Binikingdowm:
It seems this news platform "mandynews" is now obsessed with Benin kingdom and royalties.

First you posted a lie about how oba marry two sisters which is a lie, you lie against the throne and you think you'll progress?.you don't know what you've gotten into just because of traffic

Better stop this nonsense and remove this post because Benin tradition is not something you play with.
