The love story of Chinwe and Obinna is such a captivating one and its worth sharing. The love birds will finally tie the knot come Novermber 2016. Chinwe made first class in UNN at the age of 23 and was retained as a staff immediately after graduation, got chartered as an accountant (ICAN) at the age of 24 and currently doing her PHD in UNN. She was recently granted a certificate of Training from the Advanced Econometrics of Policy Analysis, an event certified by African Heritage Institution and endorsed by Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo and Prof. Ufo Okeke-Uzodike on behalf of World Bank. In an exclusive interview with 042express.com, Chinwe expressed her feeling of accomplishment with her career and love of her life. "My mum died while giving birth to me and my twin and my grandparents took the responsibility of bringing us up" "I have known Obinna since childhood, for over 15yrs now and we have grown to love each other dearly. He is a graduate of FUTO and currently working with Terragon Group" “In the University of Love there are no graduates only Jambites”Chinwe asserted. When 042express.com had a session with her fiance Obinna, he told us that one of the most amazing thing about his wife is that for 15yrs that they have been together she has always insisted on spending her birthdays every year with the motherless children reason being that if it weren't for her Grandparents, she probably would have been like these children. This goes out to motivate the ladies out there, you can actually make it and find true love! Source: http://www.042express.com/2016/11/i-have-known-him-for-15yrs-we-are-finally-getting-married.html

Nigerian-born American rap artiste, Jidenna Mobisson and his sister, Nneka, have endowed a scholarship in Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), named after their late father, Professor Oliver Mobisson. The late Professor Mobisson was one of the pioneer lecturers at old Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH), the parent University of ESUT. While in the university, Professor Mobisson, working with other Professors in Department of Computer Science and students, invented the ASUTECH computer, the first commercially produced personal computer in West Africa. Speaking at the scholarship endowment ceremony at ESUT permanent site Agbani on yesterday, Jidenna Mobisson recalled that when his father invented a personal computer, nobody believed that an African could do such a thing. “He worked with professors and students of this institution to create the first commercially produced personal computer, here in this university. “My sister Nneka and I want to honour those who made sure that things were done here. So, in honour of those people, my sister and I are going to endow a scholarship in Computer Engineering. The scholarship will be given to the best student in third year. “This will be done in honour of those who are making sure things are done in Enugu” Jidenna said. Reacting, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Professor Luke Anike commended Jidenna and his sister, Nneka for the gesture, saying that what they have done was in line with what the university wants to achieve in technology. “We are the first university of technology in Nigeria. What you have done is a thing of honour. Your father was one of the best staff and he pioneered the Department of Computer Science and the Industrial Development Centre (IDC) in this institution. “What you have done is what your father believes in. I am sure if he is here now, he will be happy. We hope this gesture will encourage our young people to work hard” Professor Anike said. source: http://www.042express.com/2016/09/jidenna-awards-scholarship-in-esut-to.html

Many passengers complain that the tricycle popularly called Keke Napep, as it is fondly called in Nigeria, is not conducive enough. These complaints seem to have got the ears of manufactures who now have cozy tricycles to replace the old styled ones. Chierika Ukogu, the first ever Nigerian athlete to compete for the Rowing event at the Olympic games finished second in the Final D of the Women Single Sculls, and final standing of 20th in the Olympics. The legendary rower qualified for the final after she finished fourth in the semi-final with a total time of 8:18:55 while in the final she finished with a total time of 7.44.76. Some analysts have said she single-handedly created Nigeria’s rowing team, this is not far from truth. Considering the cost of equipment is quite steep – around N4.8 million by today’s naira. She stated that her ultimate goal is to represent Nigeria at the Olympics, which at 23 years has now been achieved. Due to a lack of infrastructure, Chierika not only had to be selected for the team for Rio 2016 but also had to fund herself. She started a gofundme campaign in 2015 and successfully raised $15,000 to get herself equipped and transported to Rio, Brazil. Though Chierika Ukogu did not get the medal, we celebrate her sacrifice for Nigeria Source:http://www.042express.com/2016/08/rio2016-chierika-ukogu-finishes-2nd-in-rowing-final.html

Franca Asemota from Benin, Edo State, has been found guilty of eight counts of conspiracy to traffic young girls. Ms Asemota, 38, forced dozens of teenage orphans into prostitution and slavery using the threat of witchcraft. She used Heathrow as a hub to traffic at least 40 girls and young women into Europe from remote villages in Nigeria after promising them jobs, education and a better life. She then used ‘witchcraft’, threats and violence to force them in to the European sex trade. She was later arrested in Nigeria, extradited to the UK for trial and has now been sentenced. Prosecutor David Davies said Asemota targeted girls from poor, rural backgrounds with little knowledge of the world, promising them legitimate jobs in Europe between August 2011 and May 2012. "Only when they were far away from their homes were they told the truth – that they would have to work as prostitutes," Davies said in a statement. "The girls were told that if they disobeyed their captors or tried to escape, the curse would cause them injury, infertility or even death." Prosecutions for human trafficking in England and Wales have increased since the introduction of a new anti-slavery law last year, with about 180 people prosecuted between April and December 2015, which prosecutors said was a new record. Indonesia has executed Michael Titus Igweh and two Nigerian drug convicts by firing squad, an official said. The Nigerians were put to death along with one Indonesian on Thursday (after midnight Indonesian time), Noor Rachmad, deputy attorney general for general crimes, told reporters. The sister-in-law of Michael Titus Igweh,(pictured in veil holding up a family statement condemning the execution) who alleged police had applied electricity to his genitals to force him to confess to heroin possession, said his final request had been to see his wife and family for the last time. However she said Mr Igweh’s wife was in Nigeria and would not arrive in Indonesia until Friday – hours after her husband was killed. “Yesterday I met Titus and he was angry and upset,” Nila said. “He said: ‘What kind of justice is this? What kind of country is Indonesia?” Nila said she had chosen to sacrifice her last-ever visit to Mr Igweh in order to tell his story to the media: “At this time I believe there are two things that can help Titus, one is God and one is the media. If that was the last time to see Titus, than so be it.” On Thursday morning 17 ambulances – 14 containing coffins – were ferried to Nusakambangan, known as Indonesia’s Alcatraz, where the prisoners will be strapped to wooden posts and shot dead by a firing squad.
