Nobody said Somalis are light skinned. Regardless of skin color all Somalis share common physical characteristic so I don't see your point.

I am actually a female. Qalanjo means beautiful lady in af-Somali.
I have Nigeria (Yoruba I believe) and Fulani (from Cameroon) friends, I think they are beautiful in their own way.
I just hate when people deny us out diversity and uniqueness by categorization all African in the same category.

Yup, every country in the world has beautiful and not so beautiful people. I just think that Africans like HOA looks because it is close to the euro-centric concept of beauty. People will even go as far as to say, east africans are not Pure black but a hybrid race I just find the diversity of Africa very intriguing.

Obimak: Somalis are 99% muslim and very conservative (at least those from Somalia, Most Djibouti somalis are liberal) beauty pageants are seen as very inappropriate and un-Islamic so most Somali girls would take part in it.
