Most of the KGB assets in the west kept selling secrets to the FSB/SVR and the operational control was intact well till today. the difference is that it was more opened after USSR fell and was accessible unlike before (the KBG was very secretive during the cold war because the Soviet union itself wasn't an open country unlike the west). Their biggest assets it the US (Ames and Hassen) still sold secrets way into the year 2000 or there about before they were caught.
