WebmastersRe: Introducing Upnepa – A User-driven Power Update Platform by QeetDeet(op): 4:28pm On May 09
Hey everyone! 👋 We've been busy improving upnepa.app and wanted to share what's new:

**The map is smarter now**
When you zoom out, nearby power outage reports now group together into one circle so the map doesn't look cluttered — and when you zoom back in, they spread out again. Solo reports that are far from others will also stay visible no matter how far out you zoom (they used to shrink and disappear).

**You can now see DISCO zones on the map**
There's a new optional overlay that shows the official boundaries of all 10 electricity distribution companies in Nigeria (AEDC, BEDC, EEDC, and the rest), each in their own colour with a legend. Toggle it on whenever you want to see which company covers which area.

**The map loads faster and more reliably**
The DISCO boundary data is now stored directly in the app instead of being pulled from a government server every time. This means the overlay loads instantly and still works even if that external server goes down.

**The Nigeria Stats page got a big upgrade**
We've added a lot more real data to the /nigeria-stats page, including:
- A chart showing how electricity access across Nigeria has changed over time, with a comparison to the world average
- A breakdown of electricity use by region and sector, including the gap between northern and southern Nigeria
- Updated figures from the IEA, including info on solar growth, major power plants, and national energy goals
- The national grid dispatch figure has also been corrected to the accurate 4,540 MW

Thanks for using the app and keep reporting! Every report helps build a clearer picture of power supply across the country. 🔦⚡

WebmastersIntroducing Upnepa – A User-driven Power Update Platform by QeetDeet(op): 8:31pm On Feb 17
Hello Nairalanders 👋🏾

We’re excited to introduce UpNepa (upnepa.app) — a new, user-driven platform designed to help Nigerians stay informed about electricity supply in their area.

We all know how unpredictable power supply can be. UpNepa aims to make things easier by providing:

⚡ Real-time electricity status updates
📍 Location-based power tracking
🔔 Instant notifications when power goes ON or OFF
👥 Community-powered reports from users
📱 Simple and user-friendly interface

What makes UpNepa different?
It’s community-driven — users contribute updates about power availability in their area, helping others nearby stay informed. The more people use it, the more accurate and helpful it becomes.

The goal is simple: help you plan your day better — whether you’re working from home, running a business, charging devices, or managing appliances.

UpNepa is newly launched, and we’re inviting early users to check it out and share feedback. Your input will help improve the platform and shape future features.

👉 Visit: https://upnepa.app

Let us know:

Would you use this in your area?

What features would make it more useful?

Any suggestions for improvement?

Let’s build something useful together 🇳🇬⚡
