Operatives of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, has apprehended a handcart pusher, Idris Yusuf, for unsanitary and illegal disposal of human faeces under the bridge at Daleko, Mushin.

The 29-year-old was arrested with 27 bagged human faeces. The house where the wasted originated from has since been sealed off.

A 37-year-old man, Nurudeen Bakare, went wild on Wednesday, stabbing his 65-year-old mother, Bosede, to death, TheNation said in a report.

He was said to have killed her after rented argument at their Oremeji, Ilasamaja, Mushin, Lagos home. Bakare was said to have been away from home for 12 years before his recent return to the area.

He was said to have accused his mother, popularly called Iya Fali, of sitting on his father’s property, warning that he felt like killing someone. Iya Fali allegedly responded that he would end up in jail if he did.

Shunning his mother’s warning, he allegedly picked up a knife and started stabbing her. As if possessed, he started shouting: “I have killed her! I have killed her!!, I have killed her!!!,” witness said.

When people rushed to the scene, they saw Mrs Bakare in her pool of blood. Some youths immediately grabbed Bakare and started beating him. He reportedly begged them not to kill him, but to call the police.

Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, Chike Oti, said Bakare had been arrested and taken to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at Panti, Yaba.

A newborn baby has been miraculously dug out of a shallow grave after being buried alive for 8 hours in Canarana, Brazil.

The tot was born around midday to a 15-year-old girl. She claimed she was alone at home and her daughter arrived quickly and fell onto the bathroom floor hitting her head.

When the baby failed to cry after being born, her 57-year-old great grandmother, Kutz Amin, said she believed she was dead and followed tribal customs by wrapping her in a cloth and buried her in the back yard.

After being dug out by the cops, the tot was rushed to the Agua Boa Regional Hospital with paramedics clearing her airways and administering oxygen in the ambulance.

Doctors transferred her to intensive care following tests and scans and said the resilient child is making good progress despite her traumatic start to life.

Officers were alerted to the incident after receiving an anonymous tip off that the death of the newborn had not been reported to the relevant authorities.

Investigators revealed they arrested the great-grandmother on charges of attempted murder.
