What boggles the mind each time is that you people can't comprehend that denouncing an evil dictator does not mean that one supports evil done any where else. Open a thread on staplers or paperclips or the slave trade and we will tackle the issue without whatabouting Russia or Putin (even thought we would be right since you swear by Putin). But, no. On its own, it says nothing definitive. Other facts would have to be considered to have a full picture. If the Ukrainians do not have a similar policy of murdering prisoners, there'd be no similar number of bodies to return. Surely, that's obvious?

Ukrainians killed on the battlefield are not picked up by Russia and transported back to Moscow - they're too busy trying to stay alive and look for civilian homes to raid for food to do that. These bodies being returned are Ukrainian war prisoners that were later tortured and murdered inside Russia.

The reason for the wide margin is simple!
A larger percentage of Russian soldiers fighting in the war are condemned prisoners, African migrants and other mercenaries whose bodies do not need to be repatriated if they die in the war fronts.
Russia do not need to do any state burial for them.
Unlike Ukraine that will account for every soldier sent to fight either dead or alive, citizens or foreign fighters.

Above all, this war will go down as one of the most needless and senseless wars in modern history.

Bodies returned don't prove anything overall. Soldiers killed on the battlefield are typically not the ones returned in this matter - unless Russia is in the business of picking up dead Ukrainians from the field. Russia tortures and murders Ukrainians that surrender – those are the bodies it returns.

If everything you typed was true, the US and NATO would not be begging Russia to end the war.

They would have joined the war since.

The US is still far behind Russia in missile technology. They've admitted it themselves.

The US fought and lost to ragtag goat herders in Afghanistan for 20 years. Aircraft carrier are a sitting duck for hypersonic missiles and drones. In modern warfare, it is over rated.

The only advantages they've got is more allies than Russia and Aircraft carriers.
