Protest rocks Obafemi Awolowo University after a female final year student died due to medical negligence.

It was gathered that the student identified as Adeshina Aishat Omowunmi, until her death was a 400 level student of Foreign Languages in the institution and according to a source was seriously sick and rushed down to the Health center of the school on Thursday evening but was however denied treatment by the medical personnel on duty who insisted that she presents her health center card or school ID card. Unfortunately Aishat passed on as she didn’t get treatment on time .

The students of the university have thereby commenced on a protest demanding for better health facilities as they claimed that is the normal routine of the health center staffs to deny people treatment.

Singer Daffy Blanco has slammed cross-dresser, Bobrisky after he denied knowing her.

A 22 year old Chinese man is reported to have allegedly died of a fatal gas buildup after drinking a massive amount of Coca-Cola in 10 minutes.

The 22-year-old man rapidly downed a 1.5-litre bottle of Coke to stay hydrated during the hot weather, the Daily Mail reported.

Six hours later, he started experiencing a swollen stomach and severe pain, which prompted him to report to Chaoyang Hospital in Beijing.

After tests were conducted, it was revealed that the patient, without any known underlying health issues, had an elevated heart rate, low blood pressure and rapid breathing. Doctors also conducted a CT scan, which revealed that the soda drinker had aberrant levels in his intestinal wall and portal vein that provides blood to the liver.

This, in turn, had reportedly caused him to suffer a hepatic ischemia, otherwise known as “shock liver,” which is caused by a lack of oxygen to the organ, per the report.

At that point, the medical staff tried to save the patient by releasing the gas from his digestive system. They also administered medication to help safeguard his liver and other body parts from further damage, the Daily Mail reported.

Despite doctors efforts, the man’s condition continued to worsen until he passed away 18 hours after treatment.

However, some medical experts believed it highly improbable that the man died from a Coca-Cola overdose.

“The chances of downing 1.5 litres, or a little over three pints, of a regular soft drink being fatal would be very, very unlikely, I mean, staggeringly unlikely,”Professor Nathan Davies, a biochemist at University College London, told MailOnline.

A doctor in Nakuru, Kenya has allegedly killed his two children by injecting them with insulin, before trying to commit suicide.

Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri has confirmed the unfortunate incident.



It is said that James Gakara injected his two children with insulin before turning to himself, but the effect of the insulin was slow on him.

“We received a tip-off from the public that there was a commotion in a nearby house along Kilimani area. We immediately dashed to the scene and found the lifeless bodies of the two children in the house. Their father was still breathing,” Kiraguri said.

Gakara was then rescued and taken to hospital under police escort.

Police have since moved the bodies of the two children to Nakuru Municipal mortuary as investigations continue.

A tragic event occurred on Saturday as four of the seven children who died after allegedly eating Suya were buried in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The four victims are Kelechi Chibuzor, 12; Sunday Chibuzor, 10; Oluomachi Chibuzor, 8; and Kingsley Chibuzor, 3.



The children died on August 25.

Punch Metro learnt that the actual cause of the death was still being investigated.

Speaking at their funeral on Saturday, the Bishop of Goodnews Pentecostal Church, Umuahia, Ugochukwu Ogbonna, urged their parents to take heart.





While speaking on the topic, ‘The journey of this life and the call of eternity,’ Ogbonna maintained that everyone is a sojourner on earth and no one knows when he will die.

The cleric lauded the victims’ father, Ikwunze Chibuzor, and his wife, for showing the kids the way of the Lord, as he prayed God to grant their souls peaceful rest.



In his remarks, the President General of Ohuhu, Chief Obi Aguocha, urged the parents and relatives of the kids to be strong at their difficult time.

He said, “It is painful to wake up one day and lose your entire family. People lose one or two, but not four. It should not happen again.

“Children are supposed to bury their parents; but their father is giving back to God what He gave to him.”

He disclosed that the clan gave the family the sum of N4.8m “and something else for the children that would come afterwards.”



While appealing to the bereaved couple to see their fate as the beginning of a new life, he called on members of the community not to forget the family.

At the funeral, a member representing the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Ifeanyi Onuigbo, who was represented by Henry Eleogu, promised to stand by the family, just as he prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

Speaking, the bereaved father, Ikwunze, thanked all those who supported his family through financial means and words of encouragement.



He revealed that amid speculations that his kids died after eating Suya or inhaling generator fumes, autopsy results on the deaths would be out in the next two weeks.

A 36-year-old Nigerian married woman simply known as Mirabel has cried out on social media over her inability for she and her husband to have child.

She said that she discovered her ex, who she dated for six years was responsible for her barrenness as he used her womb for ritual purposes.

The lady said she met her ex-boyfriend named Darlington while they were in the university, however, after almost seven years together, they broke up.

Two years later, she got married to another man. Sadly after five years of marriage without a child, she discovered that her ex had used her womb for money ritual.

According to Mirabel, she unknowingly took a part the money which she used to build a house for her parents.

”My name is Mirabel, this is a true story of my life, I’m 36 years old and have married for 5 years and months plus, there’s a serious problem in my home right now and it’s getting worse everyday.

I got married to my husband, Michael about four years ago but up till now we’re still looking for a child, and we have gone to so many places both churches and traditional centres too, yet no good result to show and my husband is getting tired of the situation.

Recently, an old friend of mine who came from another state to visit us suggested a particular church for me, although the church is not a popular church but the pastor is a true savant of God.

The pastor revealed exactly what my problem is and how i got involved in it as well as who is the cause.

There was this guy i dated for almost 7 years, Darlington, i truly loved him because of the way he treated me the very first day we met at the bank. I was in a haste to settle some payment in my school, so when i got to the bank, there was a queue but he exchanged his position with mine so i could meet up with exam.

He bought me a Toyota Spider which i was using then, i also built a bungalow for my parents through him. I made a lot of savings when we were dating without knowing i was using my own destiny.

He never allowed me to visit his parents and i didn’t know any of his family members not even the village he came from but i spent 6 years plus with him. I was carried away by the amount of enjoyment i was receiving.

One day, Darlington came back from where he went to meet his friends and made a statement that nearly got me collapsed, he told that our 6 years relationship is not going to work anymore and i should leave within one week.

When he made the statement, i thought it was just a prank until end of that one week, he drove me out of the house upon pleading for a second chance because i can’t afford to lose him, he was all i had, hoping we will get married soon.

Surprisedly i found myself in the street again feeling depressed and disappointed, it wasn’t funny but thank God for my life, lucky i got married two years after we broke up. But my problem now is that i have not given birth to a child and it was revealed to me that Darlington is the cause of my problem of not conceiving.

The 32 year old singer said the cutlass-wielding robbers attacked them while in the traffic and stole their phones among others items.

A 33-year-old pregnant woman and 15 others have been confirmed dead from the deadly coronavirus in the last 72 hours in Edo State.

Reeling out the casualty figure in Benin during a press briefing, the Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Osamwonyi Irowa, said that the pregnant woman victim was about seven months pregnant.



According to Irowa, “the pregnant woman was 28 weeks pregnant, she was brought late for treatment and died within three hours of presentation at the hospital”

The Permanent Secretary added that the State Case Management Team “have collected 507 samples, recorded 79 cases, 15 deaths including an HIV positive person and 104 recoveries in the last 72 hours while the test positivity is 14.7 percent”



He explained that the state had equally vaccinated 57,236 persons in the third wave, adding that a total of 102,153 people had had at least a dose of the vaccines since inoculation against the virus commenced in the state.

Irowa however, expressed worry over the rising cases of persons admitted for COVID-19, as well as the high mortality rate in the state, noting that some of the deaths were preventable.



He, therefore, advised residents to do the needful and get themselves vaccinated and also follow Non-Pharmaceutical Measures of preventing the virus as most of the casualties were unvaccinated persons.

A seller of locally brewed liquor popularly known as Ogogoro, Mumini Olanipekun, has been taken into police custody after he reported himself to the police for stabbing one of his customers identified as Wale to death during a fight at his pub in Ifon Orolu, Osun State on Monday, September 13.
Eyewitnesses say Wale had gone to the pub to patronize Mumini. They got into a heated argument which degenerated into a fight. In the process, Mumini allegedly stabbed Wale with a broken bottle on the neck and stomach. Wale was said to have been gasping for air and was being rushed to the hospital when he died on the way.



Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, said the suspect has been taken to custody while an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

A man, identified as Aniyikaye, has been hacked to death by suspected cult members in the Owoope area of Osogbo.

Sources in the area told Punch’s correspondent that the entire neighborhood was in panic when the assailants, who were harmed with different weapons, attacked the victim, who was alleged to be a member of another cult.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said a police van which arrived at the scene after the attackers fled, took Aniyikaye’s corpse away.

After the killing, 10 suspected cultists were reportedly arrested during raids on black spots in Osogbo, the state capital, by men of the Amotekun Corps and the Joint Task Force.

During the raid, a suspect, who allegedly engaged the team in a gun duel, was shot in the leg.

A security source privy to the operation said the raid was carried out after the killing in the Owo-Ope area.

He said, “Our intention is to rid the state of crime. One of the cultists was also injured after he violently attacked us. He is receiving treatment at a hospital now.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

She said, “The man killed was suspected to be a member of a rival cult. Investigation has commenced to get to the root of the incident.”

On the number of suspected cultists arrested after the raid, Opalola asked for time to ascertain the figure, adding that she had not been properly briefed.

Husband of popular actress, Bimbo Oshin, is reportedly dead. Ola Ibironke better known as Dudu Heritage the socialite and a prominent golfer in Ibadan died some few hours ago.

Ex-housemate of the bbnaija show, Boma Akpore has denied claims he had sex with married housemate and mother of one, Tega.

Boma and Tega have received backlash from Nigerians for their amorous relationship since they were evicted from the show a week ago.

Boma Akpore, had said that upon leaving the competition last Sunday, he got a lot of hate comments from Nigerians. According to him, he had to be spirited out of his hotel by 2am to escape people who had laid siege on him. In a recent interview with Punch, Boma said

“SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CALLING MY FAMILY MEMBERS TO THREATEN ME. WHEN I FIRST GOT OUT OF THE HOUSE, IT WAS 100 PERCENT HATRED (FOR ME). BUT NOW, PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO SHOW ME LOVE. I DIDN’T HAVE SEX WITH TEGA. I KISSED AND ROMANCED BUT THERE WAS NO PENETRATION. I LEARNED THAT THERE WERE OVER 500 PEOPLE WAITING FOR ME AT THE OFFICE (MULTICHOICE). IT WAS REALLY DANGEROUS FOR ME OUTSIDE. BECAUSE OF THAT, I HAD TO BE MOVED TO MY HOTEL AROUND 2AM IN THE MORNING. I WAS TOLD I GOT OVER 10, 000 HATE COMMENTS, AND TWO MEMBERS OF MY TEAM WERE ALREADY HOSPITALIZED BECAUSE THEY FELT DOWN READING ALL THE NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT ME.”

Speaking further, Boma said

“THERE WAS NO AFFAIR BETWEEN ME AND TEGA. IT WAS ALL GAMES. THE ONLY REASON I FEEL SOMEHOW ABOUT IT IS BECAUSE I’M NOW OUTSIDE THE HOUSE AND I’VE SEEN HOW PEOPLE TOOK IT. BUT, WHEN I WAS DOING IT, THAT WAS NOT MY INTENTION. WE WERE JUST GOING WITH THE FLOW. I’M AN ACTOR AND I’VE DONE THE SAME THINGS; EVEN MORE, ON MOVIE SETS. SOME PEOPLE SAY BUT BBN WAS NOT A MOVIE SET, BUT CAMERAS WERE PERMANENTLY ON US. I HAVE APOLOGISED TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WERE ANGERED BY MY ACTIONS, AND I HAVE MOVED ON. ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO STAY IN THE PAST SHOULD STAY THERE. I HAVE BEEN IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY AND I’VE GROWN A THICK SKIN.”
