its seems you dont know the difference between a byte and a kilobyte sbucareer. 8 bits = a byte. 1 byte = 1 character. 1 kilobyte = 1024 characters. 7 kilobytes = 7168 characters a second. Hope that helps.

actually sbucareer, the max a dialup modem can connect is 56kiloBITS per second. This translates into about 7 kilobytes per second, which is what my dial up modem used to run at.
