JaceBlaze:Great computer graphics. Mixed reviews about the storyline though. But it's about an alien invasion of Johannesburg. The Nigerians hustle for the Aliens - typical.

jonraid2:@Bolded ![]() In SA, I've noticed it's mostly poor and less educated folks that enjoy Nigerian movies. Not to mention people with a lot of time to waste coz those films drrrraaaaaaaaagggggg. |
68816419:You countering me with failed projects?? 1. Tinapa: Nigeria’s $450 million white elephant 10 years after it opened, the resort in southeast Nigeria is a ghost town and has become a symbol of monumental waste. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/tinapa-nigerias-450-million-white-elephant/ 2. EbonyLife TV - taken off DSTV in Southern Africa due to very low ratings. 3. Desperate Housewives is a global franchise. That way, SA can also boast about bringing u people Big Brother Africa, Idols, Survivor, The Voice, etc. |
edon21:1. I spoke of Oscar wins and nominations for SA. That's not external influence but recognition. 2. Hollywood and Bollywood filming in SA is a vote of confidence in our technical expertise and infrastructure. 3. You've never seen a South African movie b4 cause u in constant search of Nollywood rubbish. Check out District 9 (u guys banned it in Nigeria due to jealousy, it was an international blockbuster), Tsotsi (Oscar winner), Jerusalema (about Nigerian criminality in SA), There's a Zulu on my Stoep, Mr Bones, Sarafina, Yesterday, Long Walk to Freedom, Cry the Beloved Country, Lollipop, uCarmen Ekhayelitsha, etc etc. Give me one Nigerian movie in this league, known across the world and Oscar nominated. You just flooding the market with crap. 4. Hollywood blockbusters shot in SA: The Avengers, Tomb Raider, Hotel Rwanda, Blood Diamond, Invictus, 10000BC, Blended, Doomsday, all Mandela films, etc etc. 5. Cape Town and Jo'burg have also been used to represent: Chicago in Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House (2002) post-apocalyptic Columbia in The Lost Future (2010) early 1930s Los Angeles in Ask the Dust (2006), and many more. |
Ibrahimanis:Awarding your own mediocrity. Recognition by one's peers means u are an international player. That's what South Africa is! ![]() In SA we'd rather watch 4% quality than 100% rubbish. tmksouth |
JaceBlaze:Bcoz they were portrayed as drug dealers, pimps and cannibals. It hit home, they just couldn't handle it. |
