Good day everyone. It's been a while here. I see people asking about when IL will come. I think @adedammy009 has already provided a clue. In my own opinion and observation, I think it is safe to say IL for this category may now flow along the quarterly VB. So my next guess is March/April, then June/July, etc.

Congratulations! The wait is worth it indeed.
Koldfuzhion:

The interview went well, I received the visa approval. I got to the Lagos consulate 30mins before the interview time. The CGI folks checked my appointment letter to ensure that I was scheduled for the day. Once confirmed, I was allowed in and told to arrange my documents in the order described in the interview invitation mail.

When I got into the visa hall. I was initially called for document verification at a window. All of my original documents were collected including my original school certificates. These were compared with the information that I submitted to NVC which had been mailed to them.

Once done, I was told to sit and wait till my number was called. There was no particular order to the way that applicants were called for the interview with the consular officers. After an hour, I was called by one of the officers.Below are some of the questions he asked:

Have you ever lived in any other country for more than 6 months?
Are you currently employed and where do you work?
How many years of experience do you have?
Where are you going to in the US and what are you going to do there?
Do you have any professional certifications along with your academic credentials?
Have you ever changed your name?
Do you have other dependents that aren't applying with you?

Thank you! Thank you!!

No
You do not need statement of account/ proof of funds to submit alongside the documents.

However at the point of entry to USA, if you do not have a valid job offer yet, you may need to have some pof in your account to cover you and your family pending when you get a job ( in case you are asked)

Yes, you need to fill sections 11 and 12 of part 5. Same thing with part 6.

Good day all,

Please, I need help filling some parts of the I-140 form; Particularly part 5 and 6.

Please find the attached screenshot with the highlited sections.

I am applying from outside the USA, and with no job offer.

Am I supposed to fill section 11 and 12 of part 5?
Am I also supposed to fill the part 6?

@RandD could you please guide me

Sorry please. I'm not so familiar with the form as I didn't file by myself. I may have to check my forms to be able to give you an answer when I access my PC.

Thank you very much Adidee for your simplified explanation.
Please, do I need to include statement of account that covers living expenses for the entire family as part of the civil documents? If so, must the funds remain in my account till my interview date?
Thank you.
Adidee:

To answer your second question
With the recent retrogression in may visa bulletin, (February 15, 2022), that’s about 12-15 months estimate for now, from your PD though
That’s an estimate like I said, fingers crossed till the next fiscal year begins,

-Wait for NVC letter
-Pay $345 for you and each dependent
-Submit civil documents to NVC
-Receive Document qualified email
-Receive Invitation letter when your PD is current
-Medical examination
-interview
-pay $220 for each applicant
-Move to US within 6 months

Thank you very much Adidee for your simplified explanation.

Hello guys. My EB2-NIW got approved recently within 75 days. My questions are: (1) what is the next step?(though accompany message says I should wait for 30 days for the department to contact NVC) and (2) How long from now (an estimate) can I wait to get the immigrant visa approved?
Note: I'm applying from Nigeria.
Thank you.

Good day everyone. Please how long can someone wait after visa approval before entry into Canada (first time entry)?
My visitor's visa was approved on March 30. Though I initially planned to travel in March but had to postpone till around August since plan changed due to little delay in approving my application.
Note: I have a multiple entry visa.
Thank you.

Thank you very much for responding.
I thought my question was invisible.

We do not have anyone in canada. Reason i came here to seek advice on what step to take for my spouse to get a longer duration.
2years is small for a visit visa and i don't want us to go through the wahala of extension.

Please can my spouse apply for a stand alone visit visa without invite from anyone since we dnt have?

Then when it is approved, i can go ahead with my study application.

Is it possible that way and hope it wnt take long because it's not reunification, just tourism in order to get 10years?
Gurus help too.

@RandD can you share your SOP with me?
Hi @GodsGabby, referring to this post and the ones following, I think you have to make do with what you have first. If I may suggest, get the two years study permit first, and the visitor's visa for your husband. If your intention is to become a PR/citizen of Canada, you can achieve that within the time space of your 2 years? study. With PR, your husband can have pathway to unlimited access to Canada.

Now, except your husband has good travel history or strong financial backings/home ties, it may be difficult to get approval for tourist visa. Even if it scales through, the visa duration may not be beyond six months.

I have a few suggestions for you on how you can go about your application (1) You can apply for the entire family at once, i.e. you- study permit, your husband and kids-visitor's visa in one application. There is a caveat here however, you need to write a very convincing SOP in support of your application. Anticipate visa officers likely thought process against your application and provide counter argument. If I were you, I will take this option (2) You apply first. Once your application is approved and you arrive in Canada, you can then file for your husband and kids. The challenge with this option is numerous- if you use your spouse and the kids as home ties to get your study visa approved, application for your family would most likely not sail through unless you can demonstrate that they still remain home ties and do not have the intention of living permanently in Canada. Time is also another hurdle to contend with......

This is my own little submission.

Regards,

Please gurus in the house i have a question which might be unrelated but help me.
I was told if i applied for a visit visa for my spouse alongside my study application, that the duration of visit visa will be tied to my study permit(2years)

Please how can i get a 10years visit visa for my spouse. Spouse is not interested in staying in canny land.

Should i apply for a tourist/Visitors visa for my spouse first before submitting my study application when approved or how?
When applying for my study visa, What should i click as to what is my spouse applying for, is it Tourist visa?

I am just concerned about a longer duration.
Those that have gone through this phase come and help me with what to do.

10years visit visa is what i want for my spouse.

@GodsGabby, the length of your spouse visit visa will most likely be dependent on the duration of your study permit. I somehow share the same sentiment with your husband, that is, I'm not really interested in staying in Canada unless I get something really huge.

My spouse has also applied for study permit along with the kids, which is on a separate term as mine. I was also reliably informed that I can get a separate work permit visa tied to my wife's study permit visa duration with my visit visa duration still intact.

I will advice that if your husband has a blood relation in Canada who is a citizen or a PR holder, he should apply through them for a visit visa. Otherwise, I don't know if what you're asking for is possible.

Gurus in the house can give more insights on your question.

Hi everyone. Though I have been a long time guest here, I recently registered to give back to this forum.
I'm a first time applicant, and I applied with the new link.
Here is my timeline:

Visa applied for: Visitor Visa.
Purpose of visitation: To reunite with family member who is a PR holder.
Application submitted online: January 31.
Biometrics completed: February 1 (updated same day on my portal).
Eligibility review: Started March 25/26, not sure of the two dates exactly.
BVL & PPR: March 30.
Sent passport to the VAC office: March 31.
Return of stamped passport: April 13.

Documents submitted:
1. Letter of employment
2. Introduction letter from place of work
3. My statement of account
4. Family member PR card
5. Wife's statement of account
6. Birth certificate
7. Family member statement of account
8. A simple SOP of about 1 page, stating reasons for family reunification
9. Letter of invitation from the family member inviting me .

I started following this Canada Visa thread weeks after submitting my application. At a point I felt somehow about my application, and wished I had done more. Nevertheless, I got a approval within 60days.
What surprised me the most is that I got the maximum duration of Visa on my passport, which is the highest passport duration currently being issued as a Nigerian passport.

My take home in this Visa process is that simple applications are easy to get approval. Moreso a straight to the point SOP is key. I mentioned my background and skills in the SOP, this may also be of huge influence to my application.

I'm indeed grateful to God.
