Home Affairs has confirmed that it repatriated 586 Nigerian nationals who were found to be living illegally in South Africa. The first group of 268 passengers departed on Thursday morning. A second flight will transport the remaining individuals on Monday, 15 June 2026. The Nigerian High Commission issued Emergency Travel Documents to all individuals processed for repatriation, Home Affairs said. These documents enabled their departure from South Africa and return to Nigeria. The department thanked the Nigerian High Commission for its cooperation during the documentation and repatriation process. Home Affairs said it has declared all affected individuals undesirable persons under the Immigration Act. This decision bars them from re-entering South Africa for five years. Minister Dr Leon Schreiber said the department remains committed to enforcing immigration laws. He added that deportations and repatriations have increased by 46% over the past two years. The Department of Home Affairs cleared 568 Nigerian nationals for voluntary repatriation. However, 66 individuals had to cancel their asylum status before they could leave the country. Stephen van Neels, head of immigration enforcement, said this raised questions about the legitimacy of some applications. The Nigerian Embassy said about 1 000 people signed up for the voluntary repatriation programme. However, only 568 were approved for departure by South African authorities. Those with approved asylum status who wish to leave on the next flight must first cancel that status. Nigeria is the third country to take part in voluntary repatriation of its nationals from South Africa. Malawi previously repatriated its citizens using two buses that departed from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape. nlfpmod

lightwind:2010 world cup was bidded for and run by a black government. All new stadiums and related infrastructure built by the black government. So you and other white worshippers can go cry in your Makoko slum toilet. Here we are blacks on that same Durban beach, in the high speed trains built by the black government and driving luxury cars on world class roads built by.the black government 🇿🇦🏆😎

IronGalaxy:Nigerians always have to shout that they're giant of Africa, they're superior - but everything about South Africa is just so LUX (luxurious), it sells itself. We don't have to shout. 😎🇿🇦🏆 |
IronGalaxy:And the black government is the one that introduced welfare system CC Diferent the white worshipper who's clueless on SA history but is an expect on black people's 'poverty' in SA |

A South African woman has gone viral after documenting her move to Nigeria with her bae and young son, with many social media users linking the relocation to growing anti-immigration tensions in South Africa. TikTok creator @leratoinam shared videos of her family's journey to Nigeria, where her husband was born on 7 June 2026. The video has been viewed over a million times. The family's move comes as debates around immigration continue to dominate public conversations across the country. In recent months, the March and March movement has staged demonstrations and campaigns calling for stricter immigration enforcement and the removal of undocumented immigrants from South Africa. She captioned the post: "Hope you guys are happy now.” The group has repeatedly stated that undocumented foreign nationals should leave the country by 30 June 2026. Its members have organised marches, community campaigns and public demonstrations in several provinces, arguing that stronger immigration controls are needed to address unemployment, crime and pressure on public services. As the deadline approaches, concerns have grown among immigrant communities and families with cross-border ties. Some foreign nationals have reportedly begun making plans to leave South Africa, while others remain uncertain about what could happen if tensions escalate. User @leratoinam showed snippets of the family's departure from the airport to Nigeria and their efforts to settle into a new environment. The situation has also attracted international attention. Earlier reports indicated that Nigerian authorities were monitoring developments in South Africa following concerns raised by members of the Nigerian community living in the country. Many netizens argued that immigration laws should be enforced consistently, maintaining that legal status remains the key issue rather than nationality itself. seppuku:Oh that's great! Did you hear the opening game between SA and Mexico is gonna attract over 1.1 billion viewers? 😎

seppuku:She's a female mod in sports section. She says they should boycott SA tourism but thats how majority of West African migrants end up living in SA with expired travel documents for years. So they won't listen to her. |
I think more pressing would be for that Pan-African military to rescue kidnapped children in Nigeria, fight terrorism in the sahel or help DRC fight off M23. Don't you think? |
Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma on school kidnappings in Nigeria. Now, this is what is currently happening right now in Nigeria. Toddlers are amongst 50 school children kidnapped in Nigeria, and mind you, this is not the first time it's happening. This is a regular occurrence. It happens all the time because there is a belief that there's some Islamic terrorist groups that are kidnapping children. Why have you not heard about it as much as you've heard about the xenophobia? We need the same energy that Nigerians have been investing in making TikTok videos, shouting to the AU, shouting in their parliament about this as much as they are making noise about xenophobia, the same xenophobia that doesn't have a single person who's died so far, but they keep creating it. Now you have women and children and toddlers, toddlers that are being kidnapped in your country, but you are more worried about so-called xenophobia in South Africa when you know very well that week in and week out South Africans are showing you videos of Nigerian drug dealers running wild in the streets. MESSAGE TO NIGERIAN MEN And these same Nigerian men that had big mouths to talk about South African men being useless. What one thing I know is that us as South Africans we would have been out on the streets by now if this was happening in our country. We would have been out in the streets if this was happening in our country, so we want you now to prove yourselves, because you've been running your mouths about South Africa, but you can't keep quiet now if something this big is happening in your country. You can't be invested in South Africa if something this big is happening in your country. So we are demanding that you save these toddlers, and it calls for all of you who are making videos about South Africa to stand up for these toddlers. They did not ask to be born in an African country that cannot protect us. That's why we stand up and protect our country, because this is exactly what we don't want to happen in our country. She gained widespread attention and sparked intense debate due to viral videos where she confronts foreign nationals on the streets, demanding to see their travel documents and telling them to leave South Africa. (Picture 2) Zandile Dabula is an activist and political figure best known as the leader of Operation Dudula, a nationalist and anti-immigration movement in South Africa. She is now with ActionSA party and running for a mayoral position in Mpumalanga. Operation Dudula is most famous for preventing undocumented foreign nationals from accessing public healthcare facilities which are free in South Africa. (Picture 3) Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma is arguably one of South Africa's most talked-about figures at present. She is founder of the controversial movement, March and March, which is leading the current protests against undocumented migrants in South Africa.

jaxxy:Ard they employing South Africans? 99% of the time, NOT. They are employing cheap labour and most don't even pay taxes. |
jaxxy:We don't have a problem with people from other countries, we are just tired of them commiting crimes. Those not commiting crimes are employed because they take far less salaries. We fought against apartheid so that we get can living wages now these people are undermining that. And then they will tell us we are lazy because we don't take slave wages SA economy is far more advanced than others in Africa. You cant sit in Lagos in dusty flip flops and act like an expert on SA socio-economic realities. We won't sell casava on our heads in an economy that manufacturers Mercedes. Please sit down. |
