On a final note, congratulations to Mr Tony Adams on his confirmation as the substantive gaffer @ pompey.May you have a fruitful tenure sir(of course with the exception of whenever you'll have to square up against Arsenal) Congratulations to all gunners for another three points in the bag already ![]() |
Cristalz:No one ever said Arsenal guys were spotlessly perfect,IMO Gallas is a pussy And Crizzie, you do care about Gallas what with about 50% of your last posts here being about him ![]() |
Good luck to Gianfranco Zola and his lads, hope they effectively transfer the aggression of their loss to us over to the scums Go hammers,go get them @ OT ![]() As for the Hull V Chelshit game, well I hope they cancel out each other ![]() |
Finally the D-day is here Y'all should stop joking, spuds will NOT be allowed to smell a draw @ the Emirates,we're not in any mood to give out any early christmas presents (in any case I think we did that already to Hull) The tradition, since 1993 when spuds have not beaten us @ home will not only continue, but we'll ensure they remain rooted to the bottom of tyhe league |

Just came across the above sad story over the weekend,it's really a shame I've never liked the idea of ANY of these so-called Niger-Delta groups which are ALL nothing but criminal or selfish and self-serving gangs at best Hope the girls got prompt treatment and I wish them speedy recovery from the trauma |
Militants rape 28 female youth corps members By Ibanga Isine, Port Harcourt Published: Saturday, 25 Oct 2008 Some unidentified gunmen suspected to be militants on Thursday raped 28 female youth corps members in Abonnema, a town in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State. A source said the militants invaded the residence of the corps members, who were posted to the town on primary assignment, and rounded up the ladies. He said the suspected militants went into every flat, raping the women at gunpoint after which they fled through the waterfront. He noted that Abonnema residents had been constantly terrorised by gangsters who relocated to the area after they were sacked from some of their locations in the creeks. He said, “These boys are not fighting the Niger Delta cause. How can they fight the Niger Delta cause, when they continue to terrorise the people they are supposed to fight for? Abonnema has become a war front and people are fleeing their homes. Now, they rape women and threaten elders. They invaded homes of some female corps members and raped them at gunpoint.” A security source told our correspondent that the Joint Task Force had deployed troops in the area to forestall the breakdown of law and order. He admitted that gunmen invaded the community and attacked defenceless persons, noting that the people had cried out to the authorities to intervene in the matter. Our correspondent, who visited the Rivers State Secretariat of the National Youth Service Corps in Port Harcourt, was told that the state coordinator was not on seat. However, a senior official of the organisation, who would not want to be named, said the NYSC was yet to receive a report on the incident from its field staff in Abonnema. He said, “We have not heard anything like that. But we hope that if it happened, our staff in Abonnema will brief us before the end of the day. “I will make contacts with them to know what transpired because we would have expected the affected corpse members to call us and report such incident. We gave them our telephone numbers before they left the camp.” When contacted, the spokesman of the JTF, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, said troops had been deployed to Abonnema and Degema in Asari Toru Local Government Area of the state. He noted that the JTF Commander, Brig. Gen. Sarkin Yaki-Bello, ordered troops to move into the two towns as result of the increasing activities of militants, which tended to threatened peace and security. Musa also noted that the naval component of the task force on Thursday had an encounter with militants along the Cawthorne Channel, which resulted in the killing of five gunmen. According to him, two AK 47 rifles and one speedboat were seized from them, adding that none of the soldiers sustain injury in the attack. He said, “The Commander of JTF, Gen. Sarkin Yarki-Bello has decided to deploy troops in Abonnema and Degema areas of Rivers State. The decision to deploy troops in the above mentioned areas is based on undeniable report that these communities have high concentration of militants and related criminal acts. “Above all, some militants’ camps are located in the general area. Community people were killed terrorised, maimed and in some cases, women were raped by the militants. Practically, people are begging for JTF’s intervention, hence the decision to deploy troops to the affected areas.” Meanwhile the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has pleaded with Abonnema and Degema people to return home, promising that the situation in the communities has been brought under control. Amaechi made the appeal during a visit to assess the security situation in the two townships. He noted that the situation was not as bad as it was being painted, pointing out that people were still going about their normal businesses. He assured the people that such an incident would never occur again, especially with the deployment of more security personnel in the area |
HELPING THE NAUGHTY BOY :A JOKE A man was walking down the street one day when he noticed a very small boy trying to press a doorbell on a house across the street. However the boy is very small and the doorbell is too high for him to reach. After watching the boy's vain effort for sometime, the amn moves closer to the boy's position, steps smartly across the street, walks up behind the little fellow and, placing his hand kindly on the child's shoulder,he leans over and gives the doorbell a long solid ring. Crouching down to the child's level afterwards the man benevolently asks,"And npow what,my little man?"To which the boy replies,"now we run" and dashed off. |

reka:Welcome Reka We'll pass on Ruggedy's number as soon as we get it |
Congratulations to Liverfool for spoiling chelshit's fun yesterday by piping them 1 -0,actually the blues were lucky,it could easily have been 2-0 if Alonso's free kick didn't hit the post. I recall the last time the blues were beaten @ home was in February 2004 when we beat them 2- 1(with goals from Edu and Vieira),now they're feeling really blue again With mid-week's fixtures pairing us against spuds @ the Emirates, chelshit away to the irritant hull(I really hope they cancel out each other for our max benefit) and west ham going to OT to transfer the aggression of their loss to us on their hosts, the table might indeed take a better shape earlier than envisaged |
Poor poor Wande Cole Huande Ramos,so all those fine start last year na just initial gra gra Well adios amigo, how on earth did you think you'd succeed @ spuds, they suck man c'mon Think of the bright side though, now that you're out of white hart lake, you've been spared the unenviable role of being the head receiver of the spanking we'll give spuds come Oct 29th |
A-40:Abi o I wonder why dem just dey aim we playas hands Anyway,I never had any doubts about the game, only that I thought they were going to put on a stronger resistance and play a 9-1-1 formation at the end of which we'd run away with a lone goal victory. However since the victory came in a double package, who is moi to complain? |
Hmmm,oghene biko |
Hmmm,AW says Dudu to resume action soon ,I hope he's fully healed & dat dey issue him a shin guard made of iron. |

IMO It was simply a command performance.Every player impressed on the night, yea every player;from capt Almunia to TJW14 to,Fab4(the magician) ,to Diaby(the powerful wild card for the game)Adebayor ,Eboue and on and on What, two of our new boys (a boy and a man actually),I mean Ramsey and Silvestre even scored their first CL goals |
Arsenal; inventive, creative ,combative,,,,,,,,,just a joy to behold from beginning to the end(in the words of the commentator) |
A-40:No way A-40,I doubt that a fate similar to Eduardo's could ever befall TJW14 How many times did such injuries ever befall TH14? Reason is they both are fast and are always quick to jump to evade wicked menacing tackles by defenders Eduardo on the other hand is not as fast and he's more of a cool finisher, taking more composed time on the ball(this obviously gives more room for mischievous defenders to strike ) |
JUST FOLLOW THE TRACKS:A JOKE 3 men are stranded in the middle of the Canadian Forest and they don't know where they are at. They decide that they have to find some food. So the first man leaves and tells the other 2 that he is going to get some food. Several Hours later, he comes back with a deer over his shoulder. The other 2 are amazed and ask him how he got a deer without any weapons. He replies, " I find tracks, i follow tracks, i get deer". They both are slightly confused but let it go. 1 week later, they have eaten the deer, so they need to get more food. The second guy leaves and says that he is going to get food. He comes back a couple hours later with a elk over his shoulder. The other 2 ask how he got the elk. He simply replies, "I find tracks, i follow tracks, i get Elk". 5 days later, they have eaten the elk, so they need more food. The third guy, feeling very cocky, thinks to himslef, " This is going to be a piece of cake. The other guys got the other animals so easy. I'm going to get an animal better than their's put together!". So he leaves to get some food. They wait a couple hours, he doesn't come back. They wait another couple hours, he is still missing. Finally, after 9 hours of waiting, they see him coming back. His clothes are torn rags, he is covered in dirt with scrapes and bruises all over his body. He is bleeding from different gashes in his arms and legs along with one on the side of head. They ask, " What happened!". He looks at them, wide-eyed and confused, and replies, " I find tracks, I follow tracks, i get hit my train". |
Duroti:Hi Duroti Welcome to the thread for the peeps born in the best month of the year;NO DOUBT |
I think TJW14 has finally completed his seamless translation into the finished product of a defence terrorist |
Here's an excerpt from caughtoffside,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, "The Gunners have the opportunity to kick a proverbial man when he’s down next Wednesday, when Tottenham make the short trip across North London to play at the Emirates. While Spurs will hope to travel there with three more points than they currently have, it’s a derby match that won’t be coming at a great time for the visitors. Arsene Wenger has today spoken up for one of their employees, stating that a more defined role is required. The Daily Telegraph reports that the Arsenal manager is sticking up for none other than Damien Comolli, who the Frenchman believes is being made into a scapegoat for the team’s poor start. Wenger brought the scout over to England and he spent seven years with the Gunners, although the latter probably wishes he was still there rather than staring down the barrel of a gun at White Hart Lane." ![]() I'm really looking forward to the 29th,if he likes let him be looking down the barrel of an armoured tank |
Waruno: ![]() Okay, over to you all ye September 7 babies, your attention is needed by fire by force |
the spuds are doing jusssssst Fiiiiiiiiiiiine, looking forward to our Oct 29th fixture, hope they maintain their very good present form |
Foreign Banks Grant Intercontinental Bank $2bn Confirming Line , As half year gross earnings hit N121 billion More leading global financial institutions have established confirming lines of credit with Intercontinental Bank Plc, just as several existing lines are also being increased bringing its portfolio of such resources to $2.1billion. The Belgium financial giant, ING, has opened a confirming line of $50 million with the Nigerian bank just as its German partner, BHF Bank, increased its credit lines for the bank to $15 million. Among major global banks with similar relationships with Intercontinental Bank are, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, ANZ, Commerzbank, HSBC etc. This development came at the heels of the bank’s impressive financial results for the half year ended August 31, 2008, which show gross earnings rising to N121 billion, representing a growth of over 99 per cent against the N60.9 billion achieved in the corresponding period of 2007. Shareholders funds also rose to N213 billion, while deposit base stands at about N1 trillion. The results, which were approved by the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), last week also show a profit before tax of N24 billion, an increase of 63 per cent from N14.7 billion in the previous year. The bank’s customer base has been upbeat due largely to aggressive drive for retail business and corporate banking. The consistent strong financial performance over the years coupled with its global positioning strategy may have earned it The African Bank of The Year 2008 Award and The Financial Brand of The Year Award in one of the events at the just-concluded World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings in Washington DC. The bank opened its first European subsidiary, Intercontinental Bank (UK) Plc, in London during the year. This marked the bank’s continued international expansion that began in 2006 with the opening of Intercontinental Bank (Ghana) Limited and its determination to be in every continent of the world. The Group Chief Executive, Dr. Erastus Akingbola, said: ‘‘The opening of Intercontinental Bank’s London office – the first outside of the African continent– signals our continued commitment to emerging as one of the top 100 banks in the world.’’ Fitch Ratings, a leading global financial rating agency, has recently affirmed Intercontinental Bank Plc’s National Long-term ratings at A+. The interpretation, according to analysts, is that the bank is a low risk and very safe financial institution. The agency also affirmed the bank’s international rating at B+, which is the highest for any Nigerian bank as at date by Fitch Ratings. Standards & Poor (S &P), another leading international rating agency, has also pronounced the bank’s international rating as BB-, which is the highest for any Nigerian bank as Nigeria’s sovereign rating is capped at BB-. The S & P Rating statement in London listed Intercontinental Bank’s strength as strong market position, robust funding and liquidity as well as good capitalisation. According to S & P, ‘‘Intercontinental Bank is a tier 1 Nigerian bank with a good presence in the high end corporate, commercial, public and retail sectors. It was the first Nigerian bank to reach the N1 trillion deposit mark due to a strong retail deposit portfolio. Intercontinental funding and liquidity profile is robust with a large liquid asset cushion’’. I see the bank has spared nothing in the past week to convince the banking, investing and general public that it's very very very healthy, what with all the stories that made the rounds about it's "imminent collapse" owing to the pulling out of funds by some foreign investors |
