nairalanda1: That N187 was made possible by massive printing of naira and borrowing.
Fact is, we did not remove subsidy in 2012, when we should have. The result was that government was forced to borrow to maintain the subsidy. And that created a massive debt, and also forced the Buhari government to raid the forex reserves...just to pay for the subsidy.
The result was the subsidy being removed to at least allow the government have some spending money, otherwise things would have really been bad.
Most African countries charge as high as NIgeria, most even higher. Only five african countries have some form of subsidy on fuel, and even those, (apart from Libya that can pay for subsides and refinery upkeep without breaking a sweat because they have a very small population)...maintain it at the expense of debt. If all African countries subsidsied fuel like we do, even the oil producers, they would have collapsed economically ages ago.
Choose your wickedness...removal of subsidy with harsh price increases but the chance of improved domestic refining and more jobs, and no more borrowing to fund subsidy, or maintianing subsidy with the borrowing it entails. 4 years down the wire, where are the so-called gains of subsidy removal? What you lot are asking for is a revolution. When you push people too far into the wall, don't come crying when they become animals and gou.ge your eyes out. If Nigerians had half the craze of the Brits out here, you no go dey NL dey pen yeye O' level Economics that have no place in the Nigerian situation. |

Tinubu's governments have always been set up to steal from the bottom 99% to give to the 1% which includes him and his capitalist friends.
That's why he just dishes anti-people policies without a care in the world about how they affect the welfare of the Nigerian people.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Sunderland Vs Arsenal (0 - 2) On 12th September 2026 by Rayjay45: 5:41am On Sep 13 |
AngelSlay: Yes. Looking specifically at why Sunderland lost 0–2 to Arsenal tonight, the biggest issue wasn't that Sunderland were completely outplayed. It was that they failed to take their big moments, while Arsenal punished theirs.
Why Sunderland lost
1. The missed penalty was the turning point. At 0–0, Sunderland had a huge opportunity when Enzo Le Fée was awarded a penalty in the 56th minute. David Raya saved it. Two minutes later, Bruno Guimarães produced a brilliant long-range finish to put Arsenal ahead.
That is a massive psychological swing: Sunderland could have gone 1–0 up; instead, they went 0–1 down almost immediately.
2. Sunderland didn't convert their promising moments. They created enough danger to make Arsenal uncomfortable, particularly through their attacking play and late pressure, but the final action wasn't good enough. The difference was Arsenal's efficiency.
3. Arsenal were more composed in the decisive moments. The match was competitive for long periods, but Arsenal didn't panic. They defended their lead and waited for another opportunity. Sunderland, meanwhile, increasingly had to chase the game.
4. The second goal effectively killed the contest. Reinildo was sent off late after picking up a second yellow for a foul on Saka. Sunderland were then punished again when Saka converted the resulting penalty in stoppage time.
My overall verdict
Sunderland didn't lose because Arsenal dominated them for 90 minutes. They lost because Arsenal were more clinical and experienced when the game was decided.
The sequence tells the whole story:
Sunderland penalty missed → Arsenal score → Sunderland chase the game → red card → Arsenal penalty → 0–2.
So, in my view, Le Fée's missed penalty was the biggest moment of the match. Had Sunderland scored it, the entire game could have looked very different. All.these Chatgpt balablu over a dodgy penalty call. |
