Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has not been arrested because he maintains that his forest visits and calls for dialogue with armed groups were conducted with the knowledge of security agencies and aimed at peacebuilding, despite facing intense public criticism and occasional questioning by authorities.

Why Gumi Remains Free

Security Awareness: Gumi has consistently stated that his visits to armed groups in the forests were never clandestine and were done with the knowledge or accompaniment of police and security personnel.

Stance on Dialogue: He frames his actions as advocacy for a non-kinetic approach, amnesty, and understanding the root grievances of herdsmen rather than supporting criminality.

Lack of Direct Evidence: Nigerian authorities have subjected him to scrutiny and questioning at times, but have not found formal, actionable legal grounds or direct criminal complicity to justify a full criminal arrest.

Viral Arrest Rumors

AI-Generated Images: Rumors and images circulated online claiming the U.S. military had arrested Gumi.

Fact Check: These reports were thoroughly debunked as artificial intelligence-generated fake news, and Gumi himself publicly dismissed the claims.

A 48-hour power cut followed by a sudden return of electricity usually points to a local transformer fault, feeder trip, or a regional grid adjustment. Most users on Quora agree that checking with neighbors or local distribution office logs is the fastest way to confirm if the fix was structural or temporary.

What Likely Happened

Feeder or Substation Fault: A major trip or maintenance work on your local injection substation often takes up to two days to clear and test.

Load Shedding: Grid generation drops can force disco operators to rotate long blackouts before cycling power back to

your area.

Quick Safety Checks

Surge Protection: Unplug sensitive electronics immediately if voltage fluctuates or flickers.

Let's explain why that's an issue

Ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election, INEC’s BVAS is now under fresh scrutiny after the commission revealed that the devices run on Android 10, an operating system that stopped receiving mainstream security updates since 2023.

Now, that sounds alarming, especially for a device responsible for verifying voters and uploading election results.

But INEC says the Android version alone does not tell the full story.

According to Dr Lawrence Bayode, the commission’s Director of ICT, the BVAS runs a heavily customised and locked-down version of Android, with additional security controls.

The accreditation and result-uploading applications are isolated from the wider Android environment, meaning the device is not simply operating like an ordinary Android phone.

So, the bigger problem isn't just the age of the operating system, it is what happens when the system fails.

During INEC’s August 1 mock accreditation exercise in Osun, some BVAS devices experienced problems and INEC said the issue was traced to older voter records from 2011 producing unusually high biometric similarity scores and causing legitimate voters to be flagged as potential duplicates.

The commission fixed the issue within an hour and insists that this is exactly what a mock exercise is designed to uncover.

But in the 2023 presidential election, devices also reportedly failed at several polling units, batteries ran out and connectivity problems affected the process.

And this time, the stakes are even higher.

Under the 2026 Electoral Act, if a BVAS fails at a polling unit and INEC cannot replace it with a functioning device, the election at that unit must be cancelled. If the affected result could change the outcome, a fresh election must be held within 24 hours.

That sounds straightforward on paper, but can INEC actually move a working device into a remote polling unit, restore the process and conduct a fresh election within 24 hours?

That is the question Osun and the upcoming 2027 elections are about to test.
2027: The Rigging Starts in the Mind
Recently, I have heard many people say to me that the 2027 election has already been rigged and that there is no point in voting. Some even believe that Nigerians will simply be handed a fait accompli. While these concerns are valid, I do not believe that is the case.

What I believe is happening is even more dangerous. There is an attempt to rig the minds of Nigerians and make us believe our votes will not count. This is geared towards discouraging participation and weakening the power of the people before the elections. But we must reject that narrative. The truth is that the more people turn out to vote, the more competitive the election becomes and the harder it is for anyone to subvert the will of the people.

So, I make this one appeal: do not let anyone rig your mind. Do not surrender your power before the process begins. Prepare to show up. Prepare to vote and protect your vote. Because one of the strongest ways to resist election rigging is through massive citizen participation. When citizens vote in large numbers, they make manipulation more difficult.

Please my people, am I the only one experiencing this new change? It's crazy the kind of electricity supply we have been experiencing in my area in the past one month. Please is this a national phenomenon? Over electricity wan wound us for my area right now! Can anyone explain this.
You are not the only one, but it is not a uniform national phenomenon. While many parts of Nigeria still face erratic supply and grid vulnerabilities, recent localized improvements are tied to repaired gas pipeline infrastructure, better thermal plant output, and targeted feeder optimization by certain Distribution Companies (DisCos).Reasons for Localized Power SurgesGas Supply Restoration: Repaired pipelines have allowed major gas providers to ramp up fuel delivery to thermal plants, boosting generation locally.DisCo Prioritization: Distribution companies often reconfigure load allocation or prioritize specific commercial and residential rings based on improved feeder capacity or collection efficiency.System Adjustments: Incremental generation pushes from recent sector interventions can create sudden, sustained spikes in specific neighborhoods while other regions see little change.

No Light, More Babies, Fayose Blames Electricity Crisis for Population Surge

The Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Ayodele Fayose, has attributed part of Nigeria’s population growth to inadequate electricity supply, saying poor access to power leaves people with limited options for recreation at night...

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

Lack of Electricity Makes Nigeria’s Population Double — Darkness Makes People Spend More Time With Their Wives,” Fayose Says

When you don’t address the issue of electricity, by 7 o’clock it gets dark, and people start engaging with their wives, so the population doubles. The simple problem is that, because there is no electricity, people go to bed early. Their minds are already prepared for it. If this is the only option available, they simply stay at home. But if we address the electricity problem, there will be nightlife.

The Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, Honourable Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian, has criticised the senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, for making what he described as baseless claims regarding the disqualification of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo.

Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, had asserted in an interview with Arise News that Ighodalo was not “electable” and that a court had affirmed this without providing any evidence, despite repeated requests from the interviewers for clarification.

Honourable Aiguobarueghian, who represents Ovia North East 1 Constituency and is a lawyer and PhD candidate at the University of Benin’s Faculty of Law, accused Oshiomhole of spreading falsehoods.

In an online interview, the Majority Leader expressed disappointment in the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly misleading the public on a national platform. He remarked that Oshiomhole, at 72 years of age, should refrain from making unsubstantiated statements, especially on serious matters such as electoral law.

Aiguobarueghian pointed out that the substance of the matter is that Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, had filed a suit against Ighodalo, claiming that he had forged his Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and should therefore be disqualified from the forthcoming governorship race.

‎THE GREAT AWAKENING OF OVIA 2027
‎
‎The story of Ovia Federal Constituency is not a story of lack, but a story of waiting. We are a people sitting on gold mines of agricultural wealth, walking under the shadows of untapped brilliance, and living with a heritage that commands absolute respect. Yet, for years, our collective destiny has been kept on pause by representation that looks at our people only as statistics on election day. We have watched our roads weather away, our farmers toil without reward, and our exceptional youths wander without direction, waiting for a voice loud enough to break the silence in Abuja. That waiting ends today because a leader has arisen from among us who refuses to let Ovia be treated as an afterthought.
‎
‎Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian is the unyielding voice we have been praying for, a leader whose entire life is a testament to public service, legislative mastery, and uncompromised integrity. As a seasoned lawmaker who has successfully steered the wheels of legislative governance at the state level, he is not going to the National Assembly to learn how to speak or navigate the corridors of power. He is going there as an established force, armed with the intellectual stamina, the political willpower, and the deep love for his homeland required to snatch back what rightfully belongs to us. He understands that representation is not an act of charity or token empowerment; it is a sacred duty to build structural systems that permanently lift people out of poverty and dependency.
‎
‎Imagine an Ovia where our vast farmlands are converted into mechanized federal agricultural hubs, turning every local farmer into a wealthy agro-entrepreneur with direct access to national and international markets. Picture our communities transformed by modern skills and vocational centers where the children of ordinary citizens are trained with practical trades and entrepreneurship skills, giving them the power to build wealth and create jobs right from their ancestral homes. This is the Ovia that Hon. Charity is prepared to build, a constituency where healthcare is a basic right powered by constant energy, where our roads are safe and motorable, and where our market women are backed by real financial support to grow their businesses.
‎
‎This election is not a choice between political parties; it is a choice between the stagnation of the past and the glorious future that stands before us in 2027. We cannot afford to gamble with the destiny of Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West by sending a novice to handle the delicate machinery of federal lawmaking. We need a proven champion who answers to the elders, stands shoulder to shoulder with the youths, honors our traditional institutions, and carries the pains of every mother into the chambers of the House of Representatives. Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian is the manifestation of that collective dream, a man whose character is ironclad and whose vision for our land is non-negotiable.
‎
‎Let the word go forth to every village, every marketplace, and every street corner that the people of Ovia have chosen progress over promises, and competence over token gifts. The journey to reclaim our dignity and secure our prosperity begins with a single, courageous step at the ballot box. Stand up, come out in your numbers, and vote overwhelmingly for Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian in 2027 to deliver the unprecedented development and dignified representation that Ovia truly deserves.

‎A MESSAGE FROM HON. CHARITY IGUODALA AIGUOBARUEGHIAN TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF OVIA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
‎
‎My dear people of Ovia North and Ovia South,
‎
‎I come to you with a heart full of service and a commitment to work. I am not seeking office for title or for personal gain. I am running because I believe leadership is about the people. It is about listening when you speak, standing with you in difficult times, and working together to build a better future for all of us.
‎
‎I believe government must be open, reachable, and accountable. That is why I am pledging an open-door leadership. Whether you work on the farm, sell in the market, teach in our schools, run a small business, or you are a young person with big dreams, I want to hear you. Your ideas matter. Your struggles matter. When we sit down and talk to each other as one people, we build trust, and from trust we build progress.
‎
‎My vision for Ovia is one of fairness and inclusion. I want a constituency where no community is left behind. Our children deserve quality education that prepares them for the future. Our families deserve healthcare that is affordable and close to home. Our women deserve support to grow their businesses and lead in our communities. Our youths deserve skills, jobs, and opportunities that give them hope right here at home instead of looking elsewhere.
‎
‎We must also bridge the gap between our towns and our villages. Progress in the city must also reach the village. Development must not be selective. Roads, water, electricity, and digital opportunities must touch every part of Ovia North and Ovia South. At the same time, we must protect our culture, support our farmers, and create an environment where local businesses can thrive.
‎
‎For me, real progress is not measured only by buildings and projects. It is measured by how life gets better in every home. It is measured by a mother who can take her child to the hospital without fear of cost. It is measured by a graduate who can get a job or start a business. It is measured by a farmer who can get his produce to market and earn a good living. That is the Ovia I am fighting for.
‎
‎My promise to you is simple and clear. Leadership will listen to you. Development will include all of us. Progress will lift every home in Ovia.
‎
‎This is why I am asking for your support and your vote in 2027. On election day, I ask you to stand with me. Let us choose service over self. Let us choose unity over division. Let us choose a future where every citizen of Ovia lives with dignity, hope, and opportunity.
‎
‎Together, we will build the Ovia we all deserve.
‎Together, Ovia will rise.

I will be glad if both of them can come to mention what they have as an agenda to do for Osun State, if they have privilege to become a governor of our state....!

Just only Iwaloye have listed 10point agenda to do if we elect him as a governor of this state...! To my own perspective if others can't list any agenda for us Iwaloye is the right candidate we need to cast our vote for.

" THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MONEY " 📚
-
1. Money is a tool.
It's not an end in itself.

2. Don't let your emotions control your spending.
Be mindful of the emotions that can drive you to overspend, and learn to control them.

3. Invest for the long term.
The stock market will go up and down in the short term, but over the long term, it goes up.

4. Don't try to time the market.
No one can predict the future, so don't try to guess when to buy and sell stocks.

5. Diversify your investments.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Spread your money across different asset classes to reduce your risk.

6. Don't be afraid to take risks.
But don't be reckless either.

7. Pay yourself first.
Make sure you save money for your future before you spend it on anything else.

8. Live below your means.
The less you spend, the more money you'll have to save and invest.

9. Don't compare yourself to others.
Everyone is on their own journey. Focus on your own financial goals and don't worry about what others have.

10. Be patient.
Building wealth takes time. Don't expect to get rich quick.

11. Be grateful.
Appreciate what you have, both in terms of your financial situation and in your life in general.

12. Help others.
One of the best ways to feel good about your money is to use it to help others.

13. Be kind to yourself.
Everyone makes mistakes. Don't beat yourself up if you make a financial mistake. Just learn from it and move on.

14. Never give up.
The road to financial independence is long and winding, but it's worth it. Keep working hard and never give up on your goals.

15. Money can't buy happiness.
But it can buy peace of mind and security.

The Psychology of Money is a book about the emotional side of money. It's about how our feelings about money can lead us to make bad decisions. It's also about how to overcome these emotional biases and make better financial decisions.
