PoliticsFadama Guys: Have The Guys Been Played? by Realidealist(op): 2:14pm On Aug 01, 2018
In March 2017, the Federal Government of Nigeria in partnership with the World Bank commenced the Fadama GUYS Initiative; aimed at empowering unemployed Nigerian youths and women with grants to be utilized for agricultural enterprises.
The initiative had sought for applications from eligible Nigerians after which selections were made from applicants from 23 out of Nigeria’s 36 states where the first phase of the initiative was to be carried out. The selected applicants were taken through a rigorous two (2) week training in their chosen enterprises across Nigeria at the end of which the participants were required to submit business plan to the effect. Subsequently in September 2017, in a bid to make good its intention of making the grants available to the GUYS; account numbers with either United Bank for Africa Plc or Zenith Bank Plc were opened for all participants into which the grant was to be lodged for the respective GUYS. However, eleven (11) months after there has neither been payments or information as to the status of this initiative.
The question is; where is the fund meant for the initiative as reported to have been released by the World Bank. For these youths, the situation has so far left hopefulness to that of regret at trusting its government to such an extent. However, there is also the fact that miracles do happen, maybe, just maybe the GUYS will be remembered and the grant released. Or else the anti-corruption ship of this government would have run aground at yet another port.

PoliticsThis Idea Is Taking Over Lokoja by Realidealist(op): 12:01pm On Sep 08, 2017
That Lokoja was the first Administrative Capital of Nigeria is no news, that river Niger and Benue join up within the area is no news too, that the name 'Nigeria' was coined in Lokoja is also no news, what rather comes as news to any visitor to the area is that Lokoja has not grown or developed as one would have expected. These could readily be attributed to a number of factors. Due to recent development though, the people are of the opinion that the situation will soon change.
The youths and people are beginning to align to the idea that true emancipation will come, not from Political Parties, but from people resolute and resolved in their desire to drive home positive change.
As the people of Lokoja gear up for the Chairmanship elections, one person whose ideas is beginning to receive sweeping attention, and who has come to be known as THE IDEA; not in the sense of a title but rather in every sense of the word; is Kingsley Sokonwonci Anejuka.
His meetings with Stakeholders and People has always been about the deep commitment and resolve to see to the Growth, Development, Inclusiveness, Health and gainful engagement of the people towards a prosperous future.

THE IDEA GROUP is thus seeking intellectual input and commitment to see us build Lokoja - The city of our collective heritage.
