History is rarely made in the sterile corridors of planned artifice; rather, it erupts when the collective conscience of a people finds its definitive voice. On May 9th, 2026, the political atmosphere of Enugu State shifted as a transcendental democratic entreaty unfolded at the residence of Chief Dr. John Nwokeabia (Ochinawata). This was not the typical clamor of the "money-conscious" political class, nor the choreographed echoes of transactional optics. Instead, it was a rare, intellectual convergence of the Enugu State National Democratic Congress (NDC) comprising of coalition of stakeholders, mobilizers, and community voices drawn largely from the Greater Awgu axis, who arrived with the weight of a constituency’s hope. Their mission was singular and sacred: to draft a man of pristine character into the legislative service of the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency bridging the chasm between our current stagnation and a future of substantive governance. Dr. John Nwokeabia is no stranger to the aspirations of the people. Having served as the former Labour Party Deputy Governorship candidate in Enugu State, his reputation for intellectual sagacity and refined character precedes him. The committee’s visit was not a mere political courtesy; it was a desperate cry for a rescuer. Our constituency stands at a crossroads, burdened by dilapidated infrastructure that has long been neglected. The Oji River-Achi-Awgu Road, now more of a death trap than a federal artery, stands as a grim monument to years of ineffective representation. The people have looked around and found in "Ochinawata" a man whose vision transcends the hollow aesthetic of power, prioritizing the heavy lifting of rural reform. The atmosphere was charged with a rare sense of patriotism. Prince Nixon Udoka Ahanonu (Aguiyijisos), a convener of the movement, noted the Inscrutable nature of the gathering: “Yesterday’s event was truly historic. In a world where many assume everyone is only motivated by financial gain, this assembly proved that there are still citizens with genuine compassion for good leadership. We are witnessing a shift where people truly want a 'New Nigeria' and believe that through Dr. Nwokeabia, it is finally possible." Supporting this sentiment, Chief Emma Obi (Obata Uno Adimna), Another leader from Oji River, emphasized the urgency of the moment: "We need a leader with a God-fearing spirit who can represent us effectively in Abuja. With Dr. John Nwokeabia, our constituency can finally rest assured knowing our interests are in safe, capable hands. He is the bridge between our current struggles and the prosperity we deserve.” Chief Comrade Godwin Obasi, the State Coordinator for Contact and Mobilization, who led the high-powered delegation, underscored the criteria for their choice: "We have searched through the length and breadth of our zone and found Dr. Nwokeabia to be the only one with the impeccable character and vision required to restore our pride. This is not just a political request; it is a mandate from the people who are tired of shadows and are ready for reality." Dr. Nwokeabia, visibly moved and caught off guard by the sheer magnitude of the delegation, maintained his trademark humility. While he did not expect such a massive call to service at that specific hour, his gratitude to those who see him as their only hope was palpable. The message from the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River constituents is now loud and clear: they are no longer looking for politicians; they are demanding a leader. In Dr. John Nwokeabia, they have found a man whose past service and current integrity suggest that for Enugu West, the dawn of genuine governance is finally within reach. The ball is now in the court of destiny, as a constituency waits with bated breath for a leader who can finally turn their aspirations into tangible development.

By Chuks Collins, Awka March 24, 2026 Anambra State is evidently standing on a very good ground right now, as Chief Dozie Nwankwo, a hot favorite for the Central Senatorial seat in the coming 2027 election has sent out a passionate call on the electorates to go for only candidates who have demonstrated interest in the welfare of the citizens. Nwankwo, had attracted a lot of life enhancing projects/programs while in the Federal House of Representative that made constituents to clamour his elevation to the Senate now. Popularly known as 'Onyendozi'(the builder), while accepting the call at a meeting with the critical stakeholders from the Anambra Central Senatorial zone at Enugwu-ukwu yesterday said he would use the opportunity of going to the Senate to increase, expand and complete all the life-changing projects he embarked on while at the Green Chamber. Nwankwo had built and equipped five hundred units capacity computer lab/classrooms where very eager citizens have been learning and passing out with deep mastery in Internet communication technology application proficiency. He also brought a campus of the Federal College of Agriculture to Anambra State. According to him, the computer lab/classrooms is undergoing expansion for the installation of more computer units and students. The Senatorial hopeful who has continued to provide free medical outreach to citizens for nearly three decades assured the stakeholders that he will increase and expand all his poverty alleviation efforts with a view to touch all electorates in the Senatorial constituency. He dolled out widowhood support, women/youths empowerment amongst others poverty alleviation supports

Markets are not merely commercial centers. In many communities across Nigeria, they are micro-institutions of grassroots democracy where traders collectively choose those who manage their affairs. When the democratic culture of a market is compromised, the damage extends far beyond trade — it erodes trust, legitimacy, and social order. Today, the unfolding leadership controversy at New Heaven Market in Enugu raises troubling questions about how easily established democratic procedures can be subverted when institutional oversight weakens and powerful interests intervene. At the center of the storm is the emergence and continued leadership of Mrs. Kenechukwu Obieze — a development that many traders now openly describe as the outcome of a deeply flawed process marked by alleged manipulation, procedural irregularities, and institutional complacency. What should have been a straightforward democratic exercise has instead evolved into a saga of protests, walkouts, and lingering distrust among traders. A Leadership Born in Controversy Stakeholders within the market community recall that the controversy surrounding the current leadership did not begin yesterday. According to several traders, the leadership structure that has governed the market for the past two years reportedly emerged under contentious circumstances. It is widely alleged within the trading community that during the earlier leadership process, opposition voices protested irregularities and staged a walkout. Yet, despite the absence of consensus and the clear division among traders, the leadership structure was still constituted. For many observers, that moment marked the beginning of a prolonged leadership crisis. Rather than addressing those concerns through reforms or reconciliation, the most recent leadership exercise conducted on March 12 appears to have deepened the crisis. The Election That Lost Its Credibility According to traders who were present at the exercise, the process leading to the election had initially been communicated as a secret ballot, a voting method widely considered the most credible because it protects voters from intimidation and undue influence. However, on the day of the exercise, traders claim the process was abruptly changed to the Option A4 open-voting system without prior consensus. The reaction was immediate. Many traders reportedly rejected the sudden change and staged a walkout in protest. Eyewitness accounts suggest that a significant number of legitimate shop owners withdrew from the process entirely, arguing that the rules had been altered in a manner that compromised transparency. Yet, despite the mass protest and the breakdown of participation, a winner was still declared. For many traders, that moment cemented their belief that the outcome may have been predetermined. Allegations of Voting Irregularities Compounding the controversy are allegations that individuals who were not qualified shop owners may have participated in the voting process. Some traders allege that sales attendants and other non-eligible persons were allowed to take part in the exercise, raising questions about the integrity of the voters’ register and the credibility of the final outcome. There are also persistent whispers within the market corridors about alleged inducements, including distribution of food items and financial incentives purportedly aimed at influencing votes. While these claims require formal investigation, their widespread circulation illustrates the level of distrust that now surrounds the market leadership. The Ministry That Looked Away Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the entire episode is the perceived absence of firm institutional oversight from the Enugu State Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the body traditionally responsible for supervising market elections. Stakeholders argue that if the Ministry had firmly and transparently conducted the process, much of the current controversy could have been avoided. Instead, traders report that unidentified individuals appeared at the venue claiming to be representatives acting under government authority. To date, many traders say they remain unsure of the official capacity of those who presided over the exercise. Such ambiguity has raised uncomfortable questions: Did the Ministry abdicate its responsibility? Or did administrative inefficiency allow an important democratic process to slip into confusion? Either possibility points to troubling institutional weakness. The Burden on Traders Beyond the electoral controversy, traders have also raised concerns about the day-to-day management of the market under the current leadership. Several stakeholders complain of what they describe as excessive and unexplained levies, imposed on traders without adequate consultation or transparency. Others point to alleged administrative inefficiencies and irregularities that, in their view, have worsened the economic burden on small business owners already struggling under difficult economic conditions. Whether these claims ultimately prove accurate or not, they reflect a widening gap between the market leadership and the traders it is expected to represent. The Shadow of Political Interests Perhaps the most delicate dimension of the controversy lies in the quiet political whispers surrounding the situation. Markets are powerful grassroots institutions capable of influencing public opinion and community mobilization. For that reason, political actors often recognize their strategic value. Within trading circles, there are growing suspicions that certain opposition political interests may be experimenting with ways to establish footholds within influential market structures. Some stakeholders quietly point to possible connections between individuals involved in the leadership process and political elements sympathetic to opposition platforms such as the African Democratic Congress. If such suspicions hold any truth, it would represent a troubling politicization of what should remain a neutral economic institution. More importantly, it could inadvertently create confusion around the reform-driven governance agenda of Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose administration has consistently emphasized transparency, institutional order, and economic modernization. Why This Matters What is happening at New Heaven Market may appear, on the surface, like a localized dispute among traders. But in reality, it touches on a larger principle: the integrity of grassroots democratic structures. When the process through which leaders emerge becomes opaque, manipulated, or imposed, the consequences ripple through the entire system. Markets thrive on trust. Leadership that lacks legitimacy rarely commands the cooperation required to maintain order and prosperity. A Moment for Institutional Responsibility The traders of New Heaven Market are not asking for extraordinary privileges. They are asking for the basics: transparent electoral procedures credible supervision by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry participation restricted to legitimate shop owners accountable and transparent market administration These are the minimum standards expected in any democratic system. The controversy surrounding New Heaven Market therefore presents an opportunity — and a test. An opportunity for institutions to reaffirm their commitment to transparency. And a test of whether grassroots democratic processes will be protected from manipulation and political infiltration. Because if markets lose their democratic character, the consequences will not remain confined to trading stalls. They will echo across the wider civic landscape. And as history repeatedly reminds us, where transparency disappears, suspicion inevitably fills the void.

It is both unfortunate and disingenuous to witness the dissemination of some misleading and inflammatory narratives being aimed at His Eminence, Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, the Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, and the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), following a Pan-Nigeria traditional rulers conference held recently in Abuja for a health programme convened by the Federal Ministry of Health, supported by the World Bank, and attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. To frame the innocuous, health programme-focused Abuja event as politically motivated and the Eze Aro as bringing “shame” to the Igbo nation is not only factually incorrect, but also a disservice to national unity, the Eze Aro’s unblemished pedigree, and the legacy of Pan-Igbo and Pan-Southern cooperation that our forefathers envisioned. We must uphold the truth with facts, not narratives of ignorance and sentiment. First, let it be noted that the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council was founded on a structure of equity on 21th May, 2024 at Abuja, not subservience of one zone to the other. The accusation that the Council renders Igbo kings as “permanent servants” to the Ooni of Ife as the current Chairman is a baseless falsehood designed to sow discord. The facts, as publicly documented during the inauguration in Owerri on July 30, 2024, tell a different story entirely. The leadership of this Council is anchored on the tripod of the three Southern zones, namely the South West, South East, and South South. The structure is specifically designed to prevent the domination uninformed critics allege. The rotational executive positions include the following: Chairman: The Ooni of Ife (South West); Co-Chairman: Jaja of Opobo (South South ); Co-Chairman: Obi of Obinugwu (South East); General Secretary: The Dein of Agbor (South South); Assistant Secretary: Olofin of Isheri (South West); Publicity Secretary: Eze Aro (South East); Financial Secretary: Alara of Ilara (South West); Treasurer: Amanyanabo of Abonnema (South South); Welfare Secretary: Elegushi of Ikate (South West); and Legal Adviser: Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN (South East). This is not a monarchy under a single ruler; it is a constitutional council with checks and balances, and with provisions for rotation of all the executive positions, including the chairmanship. Furthermore, the position of Publicity Secretary, currently occupied by the Eze Aro, is a strategic and influential role that places an Igbo voice at the forefront of the Council’s communication. In fact, the Eze Aro could be seen at the Abuja conference also directly addressing the media in a video different from the one where he appeared alongside the Ooni of Ife. Thus, critics’ assertions of subservience and permanent exclusion are false; the inauguration communiqué explicitly stated that all executive positions are subject to rotation. Also, the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council’s mandate is for national progress and unity, not partisan politics. Some critics erroneously dismiss the SNTRC as a “political support group” for the ruling APC. This is a reckless misrepresentation of a noble initiative. The SNTRC is a response to a national need, mirroring the Northern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council that has existed for years. It was conceived by the Royal fathers to bring cohesion to the traditional institution in Southern Nigeria. Furthermore, the meeting in Abuja, which critics referred to, was not a political movement of any kind. It was a technical workshop aligned with a World Bank-supported health programme facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Health. As the communiqué from that very meeting also affirmed, the Council resolved unequivocally that it must remain “APOLITICAL” and focused on “the peace of Nigeria and the furtherance of the unity of the Southern Traditional Institution.” Beyond the institutional integrity of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council, the esteemed reputation of the Eze Aro remains unblemished. To suggest that His Eminence, Eze Eberechukwu Oji, is an “errand boy” or is diminishing the Aro throne is not only disrespectful, but is also an insult to the intelligence of those who know the revered monarch and witnessed the inauguration on 30 July, 2024 at the Banquet Hall of Rockview Hotel, Owerri. At that historic event a couple of years ago, hosted by the Governors of the Southern States and graced by the representative of the President, the Eze Aro was accorded the full respect due to a first-class monarch. His role in the SNTRC elevates the voice of Arochukwu and the South East onto a national platform where critical issues affecting the South are discussed. He is therefore not playing “a second fiddle” or mortgaging the South East interests to the South West on the basis of any religious affiliation; he is a pillar of the Council and a distinguished personality of high integrity who had attained the commanding heights of corporate success before becoming a traditional ruler. He is not a pushover by any standard. Talking about the legacy of Aro and Igbo leadership, those who invoke the history of the Aro Confederacy to vilify the Eze Aro are ignorant. Indeed, the Aro were masters of diplomacy, trade, and confederation, bringing various peoples together. This is the true spirit of the Aro who are eternally guided by timeless principles of “Ako bu ije” and “Nwa Aro Icho, Nkpola Icho.” By joining the SNTRC, the Eze Aro is continuing that legacy of statecraft and alliance-building with wisdom and tact, not abandoning it. He is ensuring that Aro’s influence extends beyond the old boundaries of the Confederacy into the modern governance structure of Nigeria. The “pride of the Igbo nation” cannot be isolationism; it is our ability to engage, lead, and shape the narrative on any stage. All this calls for equitable co-existence, not conflict of loyalties as critics tend to project in attempts to create a false dichotomy between the South East Council of Traditional Rulers and the SNTRC. They are not mutually exclusive. The Eze Aro remains a proud and active member of his zonal council. The SNTRC serves a complementary purpose: it addresses issues that transcend zonal boundaries, such as security, economic integration, and public health across the entire Southern Nigeria. It is worthy of note that the following traditional rulers attended the inaugural meeting of 21 May, 2024: His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, Osun State; His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi, Otu Obong of Calabar, Cross Rivers State; HRM, Eze (Dr.) Cletus Ilomuanya, CON, Obi of Obinugwu, and Chairman, Imo State Council of Elders; HRM, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, Alara of Ilara, Epe Division Lagos State; HRM Eze (Dr.) Emmanuel C. Osoja Onikogbo of Ikogbo, Ogun State; His Eminence, Eze Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, Abia State; and HRM, Obi Benjamin Keagborukuzi Ikenchukwu, Dein of Agbor, Delta State. The inaugurated board members of SNTRC are: HRH Eze Nnani Nzeribe, Igwe of Oguta Kingdom; HRH Eze Isaac Ikonne, Enyi of Aba; HRH Igwe F.O. Nwatu, Ogbozinne Akpugo; HRH Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu, Igwe of Nnewi; HM Oba Sikuru Adetona, Awujale of Ijebuland; HRM Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu, Oba of Lagos; HRM Omo N’Oba Akpolokpolo, Oba of Benin; HRM Oba Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun, Deji of Akure; HRM Nntenyin Solomon Daniel Etuk, The Okun Ibom Ibibio; HRM King Edmund Daukoru, Amanyanabo of Nembe Kingdom; HRM Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo, Alake of Egbaland; and HRM Ogiame Atuwatse, Olu of Warri. As part of the Southern Nigeria development strategy, on 25 November, 2025, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Governor, hosted a Joint Meeting of the Southern Governors’ Forum and the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in Iperu, where the 17 Southern Governors and esteemed Traditional Rulers rulers addressed key issues affecting Southern Nigeria. The discussions focused on security, governance, economic stability, and strengthening regional collaboration. Together, they adopted major resolutions, including the creation of a zonal security fund, improved intelligence-sharing systems, sustained advocacy for State Police, a unified resident identification programme, stronger regional security outfits, better land and mining governance, and enhanced support for traditional councils. Finally, the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council is a vehicle for unity, strength, and progress. His Eminence, the Eze Aro, is not a passenger in this vehicle; he is one of its drivers. To accuse him of any indignity is to confuse progress with parochialism. We call on all knowledgeable sons and daughters of Aro and the Igbo nation to support the SNTRC and accord the Eze Aro his respect. Our king is not playing a second fiddle; he is helping to conduct an orchestra of Southern unity for the peace and development of Nigeria. We may not always see issues the same way, but let us be confident in who we are as a people, and support our traditional rulers as they work for our collective interests. It shall be well with Nigeria and Alaigbo. Signed: Mazi Ernie Onwumere Director, Public Affairs Eze Aro Palace. 22/2/2026

Insecurity: Anambra, Imo border communities cry out as killings happen again Lilu, Orsuihiteukwa seek FG, States intervention By Clems Iheme, and C Collins. who was at Orsuihiteukwa/Lilu Feb 10,2026 Two Anambra and Imo states communities bordering each other -Lilu (Ihiala LGA) and Orsuihiteukwa (Orsu) respectively have raised the alarm over recent more killings in their communities. The outcry led by youths of these neighboring communities specifically fingered a previously booming location unfortunately baptized 'Murder Valley' by the gunmen as the main black spot and operational base of the murderous gangsters who have extinguished every form economic lives, decorum, and sanity but replaced it with the guns, and language of the jungle where might was power. The location named Udeke by their ancestors according to history was renamed by these hoodlums as it has sadly became a spot where they do the absurd. They reportedly rape, rob, kill, maim and carry out human sacrifices for years now. The Orsuihiteukwa Youths/the young-at-heart in the community led by Orsuihiteukwa Gadinma Ozo took select team of local/foreign based journalists, historians, anthropologists and documentarians to see things for themselves. While addressing the visitors, the spokesperson for the community who gave his name simply as "Chukwuebuka", noted that he's presently keeping his full name under cover now for obvious security reasons said they were tired of running away from their homeland. Chukwuebuka, like Lilu in Ihiala Council of Anambra State, lamented that "it was indeed doubtful if the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma and the State Assembly still recognized Orsuihiteukwa and other neighbouring communities now daily soaked in blood as part of Imo State." He bemoaned the sad situation where the historical popular Eke Ututu market which hitherto drew patrons from all corners of the world become a wild forest in the last six years when insurgency started in the area. Barrister Chukwuebuka told the visitors that majorly two villages of Orsu and Uda were the worst hit as almost the entire residents were driven out of their ancestral abode. Moreso, all the major access roads, farmlands, bushparts, etc have been laced with deadly landmines. And needs military sweep as it has been decimating unsuspecting natives. Toeing the same line of Lilu who intermarried, attends schools, churches in each other's community asked the State government, 'Is Orsuihiteukwa still part of Imo State? Where has our share of revenue allocation, appointments and other democracy dividends been going? According to a resident who mustered enough courage to speak to the visiting team, the Federal and two States governments have failed us and our children.

The Vanguard of Civic Renaissance: Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh and the IBBN’s Crusade for Political Literacy & Empowerment In an era where political apathy often blankets the grassroots, a transformative wave is surging through Enugu State. Yesterday marked a pivotal moment for the local labor force as Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh, the Cordinator of the Initiative For Brighter and Better Nigeria (IBBN) Enugu Chapter, orchestrated a high-level political sensitization summit for Keke operators and artisans. This wasn’t merely a gathering; it was a sophisticated masterclass in democratic engagement, designed to bridge the chasm between the corridors of power and the pulse of the marketplace. This movement, however, flows from a larger fountain of vision. The Enugu Chapter's success is a testament to the foundational blueprint laid down by the Convener of the IBBN, Prophet Isa El-Buba. As the ultimate architect of this national awakening, the Convener has sacrificed immensely to build a platform where civic education can thrive. It is this central vision that Rev. Dr. Edeh has seamlessly localized, proving that when the national blueprint is sound, the regional execution becomes a beacon of hope. The event brought together a diverse cohort of daily earners to demystify the electoral process, featuring key grassroots figures like Unit Chairman Mr. Eke Chima and Mr. Christian Nweke. Rev. Dr. Edeh’s commitment to this cause is evident in his tireless stewardship; he has consistently prioritized the empowerment of the disenfranchised, previously facilitating logistics for over two hundred citizens to ensure they successfully navigated the complexities of voter registration. In a landscape where civic duty is often transactional, such selfless mobilization of resources stands as a rare example of genuine altruism. Empowerment Beyond the Ballot The dialogue focused on the sovereignty of the citizen. By educating Keke operators, the engine of urban mobility, the IBBN ensures that those who drive the economy also drive the political discourse. This is the hallmark of the IBBN philosophy: that a "Better Nigeria" emerges only when the artisan and the laborer understand their power as the ultimate stakeholders in the democratic enterprise. The program concluded with a spiritual tribute, as Rev. Dr. PraiseGod offered prayers for the National Leader of the IBBN, Prophet Isa El-Buba, honoring the divine vision and wisdom with which he pilots the organization. He highlighted the leader’s humanitarian impact, which continues to resonate across Nigeria and beyond. The day ended with tangible impact, as over 100 operators received "empowerment fuel" for their tricycles and vehicles. Participant Mazi Dan Onyia shared a moving testimony, noting that in his many years, this was the first time he had received such sincere support from any organization. "True leadership they say is not found in the pursuit of titles, but in the relentless pursuit of an enlightened citizenry. From the Convener's Prophet Isa El-Buba national vision Prophet Isa El-to Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh’s local execution, the IBBN is not just registering voters; they are awakening a nation." The Vanguard of Civic Renaissance: Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh and the IBBN’s Crusade for Political Literacy & Empowerment In an era where political apathy often blankets the grassroots, a transformative wave is surging through the streets of Enugu state. Yesterday marked a pivotal moment for the local labor force as Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh, the visionary leader behind the Initiative For Brighter and Better Nigeria (IBBN) Enugu State Chapter, orchestrated a high-level political sensitization summit specifically tailored for Keke operators and artisans. This wasn’t merely a gathering; it was a sophisticated masterclass in democratic engagement, designed to bridge the chasm between the corridors of power and the pulse of the marketplace. Under the banner of the IBBN, an organization that is rapidly distinguishing itself as a peerless force in civil society—the event brought together a diverse cohort of daily earners to demystify the electoral process. The presence of key grassroots leaders, such as Unit Chairman Mr. Eke Chima and esteemed participant Mr. Christian Nweke underscored the event's significance. By inviting seasoned experts and policy speakers to address these essential workers, Rev. Dr. Edeh has signaled that no citizen is too humble to be an architect of the nation’s future. This latest initiative is not an isolated act of benevolence but a continuation of a profound commitment to the Nigerian state. Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh has long been the primary financier of his own civic convictions. Prior to this summit, he personally mobilized and funded the logistics for over two hundred citizens to reach INEC offices, ensuring they successfully navigated the complexities of voter registration. In a landscape where civic duty is often transactional, Dr. Edeh’s use of personal resources to empower the disenfranchised stands as a rare beacon of genuine altruism. His work through the IBBN represents a standard of organizational excellence that is, quite frankly, like no other in the region. The IBBN does not just talk about a "Brighter and Better Nigeria"; it builds the foundation for it, one voter card at a time. Empowerment Beyond the Ballot The dialogue fostered yesterday focused on more than just the act of voting; it was about the sovereignty of the citizen. By educating Keke operators, the very engine of urban mobility, the IBBN is ensuring that those who drive the economy are also driving the political discourse. The insights shared by the invited experts provided the participants with the intellectual tools to look beyond populist rhetoric and demand substantive governance. This is the hallmark of the IBBN’s philosophy: that a truly "Better Nigeria" can only emerge when the artisan, the driver, and the laborer understand their power as the ultimate stakeholders in the democratic enterprise. The tireless efforts of Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh deserve more than just local applause; they demand national recognition. Through the IBBN, he is successfully conducting a clinical intervention against voter ignorance. As the organization continues to expand its reach, it serves as a powerful reminder that when leadership is coupled with a genuine love for the people, the path to national rebirth becomes clear. Rev. Dr. PraiseGod took the opportunity to pray for the National Leader of the IBBN, honoring the divine vision and wisdom with which he pilots the organization’s affairs. He specifically highlighted and gave thanks for the leader's significant contributions to Nigeria and his broader humanitarian impact on mankind. The program concluded with powerful testimonies from participants empowered by the IBBN, including more than 100 Keke and artisan operators who received fuel. Expressing his gratitude, Mazi Dan Onyia shared a moving confession, stating that this was the first time in his life he had ever received such support from any organization or government body. The Conscience of a Nation: Dr. SKC Ogbonnia Endorses Peter Obi for 2027, Declares ADC the New Vanguard of Nigerian Democracy ENUGU — January 18, 2026 — In a major realignment of political forces ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. SKC Ogbonnia, a prominent political strategist and former presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially endorsed Mr. Peter Obi for the presidency. Speaking on the sidelines of a high-stakes strategic meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu, Dr. Ogbonnia, who has formally defected from the APC to the ADC framed his decision not as a political calculation, but as a moral imperative. Addressing the prevailing tribal narratives in Nigerian politics, Dr. Ogbonnia was emphatic that his support for Peter Obi transcends ethnic affiliations. "I am not endorsing him because I am an Igbo man," Dr. Ogbonnia stated. "I am endorsing him because it is a matter of conscience. Peter Obi represents the highest standard of leadership this country could hope for. He possesses the disruptive capacity and the requisite vision to dismantle the stagnation of the current administration and steer Nigeria toward a path of true recovery." Dr. Ogbonnia, a seasoned intellectual and critic of the current administration’s policies, noted that Obi’s leadership style is the "disruptive force" needed to correct Nigeria's socio-economic trajectory. Dr. Ogbonnia’s move to the ADC marks a significant blow to the ruling party’s influence in the South-East. Explaining his departure from the APC, he cited a desire for a platform that prioritizes institutional integrity and the welfare of future generations over partisan "spoils." "I am joining forces with the ADC, both at the state and national levels, not for personal gain or political patronage," Ogbonnia remarked. "My focus is entirely on the greater good and the legacy we leave for those who come after us. The ADC has emerged as the genuine alternative for Nigerians who are weary of the status quo." Enugu 2027: "The Party to Beat" Turning his attention to the local political landscape, Dr. Ogbonnia predicted a seismic shift in Enugu State. He frowned at the elitist policies of the current administration in Enugu State and noted that Enugu state needs a leader that will that understands the suffering and pain of the masses. He asserted that the ADC is no longer an underdog but has evolved into the dominant opposition force capable of sweeping the state in 2027. "Make no mistake, the ADC is the party to beat in Enugu State," he declared. "The level of grassroots mobilization and the quality of stakeholders aligning with this movement are unprecedented. We are building a coalition that will thrive because it is rooted in the will of the people." Dr. Ogbonnia concluded by challenging Nigerians to look beyond religion, tribe, and traditional party loyalties in the coming election cycle. He praised Obi’s background of accountability and contrasted it with the perceived failures of the current political establishment. "Obi is the best Nigerian for this moment. This isn't about where you come from or how you pray; it’s about competence. He is a disruptive believer in the potential of this nation, and he is the only one equipped to turn things around." With Dr. Ogbonnia’s endorsement and the growing synergy between the ADC and the "Obidient" movement, the 2027 race has officially entered a new, more competitive phase.

Dear Compatriots, I want to begin by expressing my profound gratitude to every one of you. For months, you have remained resolute, united, and focused despite the winds of political uncertainty. Your patience while waiting for our National Leader, H.E. Peter Obi, to provide clarity on our next political direction, has been nothing short of exemplary. Your loyalty to the cause of a New Nigeria is the bedrock upon which our future success will be built. Following the recent official declaration by H.E. Peter Obi, it is now time to move forward. Our leader has formally encouraged all supporters, members of the Labour Party, and the Obidient Movement to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led coalition. Consequently, I am hereby mandating all Labour Party Executives at all levels in Enugu State to immediately commence close collaboration with the ADC-led coalition. This is to ensure the total harmonization of our operations and a smooth, strategic integration into this new national platform. Based on our initial arrangements and successful deliberations with the ADC leadership in Enugu State, and having discussed with other leaders of the Party, I am encouraging all Labour Party Ward Chairmen to immediately start working towards collapsing the existing LP structures in our various wards into the ADC Coalition. Consequently, all LP Ward Chairmen are to await further directives from our ADC State Chairman on this harmonization process. We must ensure that coalition grassroots strength is preserved and enhanced under this new banner. Our State Chairman will provide further directives on this important process. I further encourage all LP Local Government Chairmen to urgently convene general meetings of members within their respective LGAs. The objective of these meetings is to sensitize, encourage, and direct all members to begin the formal registration process with the ADC-led coalition. We must ensure that our numbers are fully accounted for as we transition. To provide further clarity and ensure a seamless integration of our various executive committees and members, a comprehensive joint Coalition Stakeholders Meeting will be held shortly. Details regarding the date, time, and venue will be communicated in the coming days by our State Chairman. This meeting will serve as the roadmap for our collective future and ensure that no partner in the coalition is left behind in this transition. For this integration and harmonization to be successful, we must prioritize collective interest over personal ambitions. I call on all Party office holders on all sides to be prepared to make the necessary sacrifices required for a smooth harmonization. To build a formidable force, we must be willing to fully accommodate coalition partners from other parties. Even as we navigate this transition, we must not loose sight of the ultimate goal. We must work assidiously to mobilize Ndi Enugu to rescue our state. The current APC led government in Enugu State has impoverished our people through heavy multiple taxation and a lack of accountability of public funds. Our mission for 2027 is clear: to provide a compassionate, transparent and purposeful governance that serves the people. The journey to reclaim Enugu State and our nation continues. Let us remain focused, disciplined, and united as we take this bold step forward. Signed, Dr. John Nwokeabia ADC Coalition Enugu State 4th January, 2026

LET JUDGMENT RUN DOWN AS WATERS!" IBBN Enugu Declares Spiritual Warfare and 'Hell Fire' Against Powers Holding Nigeria Ransom ENUGU, NIGERIA—The spiritual atmosphere in Enugu was charged with raw emotion and prophetic decree as the Initiative For Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), Enugu State Chapter, rose in a powerful, two-hour prayer declaration on Friday morning. The crowd stood en masse for over 90 minutes, engaging in intense spiritual warfare against the forces and "cruel leadership" perceived to be holding the nation to ransom. The event, titled 'Rise in Prayer in Defense of True Democracy,' transcended mere petition, culminating in a bold declaration of divine judgment and 'hell fire' against oppressive powers. The Battle is Not Yours, But God's Rev. Dr. PraiseGod Edeh, Coordinator of the IBBN, Enugu State Chapter, led the charge. He emphasized that Nigeria's current plight has gone beyond any physical solution, echoing the scripture, "The battle is not yours, but God’s" (2 Chronicles 20:15). "The challenges Nigeria is currently facing have gone beyond physical confrontation or the strength of man but requires spiritual intervention which only God can do," Rev. Dr. Edeh stated. "Prayer remains the key to salvation, and IBBN is here to fill the gap." Rev. Edeh who is also a pastor with Redeemed Christian Church of God, lauded the masses for their sacrifice, and praised the founder of IBBN, Prophet Isa Buba, stating that courage in the face of bad and cruel leadership is a gift from God, and passionately called on every Nigerian, home and abroad, to stand in unity and solidarity for the salvation and "enthronement of the right leadership to save the dying masses." Other prominent clergy affirmed the necessity of the spiritual offensive. The PFN Chairman of Enugu South LGA, Pst. Tim Ogbobe noted that Nigeria needs God's intervention "now more than ever," offering fervent prayers for victims of insecurity, bad leadership, and "unconscious leaders." Rev. Dr. David Ezema, PFN Ward Chairman of Idaw River, affirmed the event's gravity: "This prayer is Germane as the only powerful weapon available to the helpless masses to bring freedom, security, and abundance for millions of people in need." Also speaking, Apst. Prof. Noble Oji Idika, a founding member of PFN Enugu South and immediate , explained the objective: "The objective of prayer is to call upon the God Almighty to intervene in the pain of Nigerians and put away the devil in the country." In this same vein, Pst. Mrs. Ndidiamaka Okolo offered a tearful intercession, crying out for the pain of suffering women, particularly in the Northern part of the country. She encouraged women to "draw close to God, even in the face of suffering and insecurity," reminding them to look to God, the Helper of the distressed (Psalm 46:1). The spiritual declaration concluded with fervent prayers for Prophet Isa Buba, the leader of IBBN, recognizing his prophetic gift and courage to mobilize the nation for divine action. The message from Enugu is clear: The physical struggle for democracy is now fully dependent on the spiritual war room. The IBBN has thrown down the gauntlet, insisting that only by decreeing "Let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream" (Amos 5:24) will salvation and peace return to the Nigerian nation

Desperate Measures: Paid Puppets Exposed as Amankanu Ohofia's Progress Hangs in the Balance The latest pitiful display of protest in Amankanu Ohofia Autonomous Community is not dissent; it is a desperate, calculated maneuver by the entrenched Enemies of Progress attempting to derail a decade-long wait for legitimate community development. We are witnessing a Symphony of Subversion, where a handful of financially compromised puppets are being forced to dance to the discordant tune of their sponsors' avarice and desperation. Let us examine the concrete, undeniable facts: the supreme law governing this transition is the gazetted constitution of Amankanu Ohofia Autonomous Community, officially sanctioned by the Enugu State Government. The newly constituted Caretaker Committee, acting with unimpeachable integrity, is meticulously following this legal, non-negotiable process to finally elect a Traditional Ruler of Amankanu after close to a decade. The sponsors of this sham, a desperate cabal led by Simon Okeke Ude, a man whose position in the seventh village in the line of succession underscores his sheer opportunism, are crying foul over a supposed "imposition." Which constitution, we ask, are they referencing? Let them produce this phantom document and face its inevitable public dismantling against the legally gazetted charter. The core truth is that they are venomously lashing out because the current PG and his committee possess an unyielding moral compass, refusing to be bought, bullied, or bribed into corruptly overturning the community's sacrosanct governing document. This cabal including Samson Ekpete Oshita Omezuruibe, Ani Vincent Chijioke, Charles Emeka Onuigbo, Basil Aja, Ekene Uwaoshionu, and others believes, with ludicrous arrogance, that Amankanu Ohofia is their personal, hereditary birthright. The casus belli for their destabilization is laid bare: unbridled land-grabbing. Evidence confirms that Simon Okeke Ude indiscriminately and unlawfully sold hundreds of Hectres of Amankanu communal land to his collaborators, and this protest is nothing more than a panicked, last-ditch effort to protect their illegal spoils. The people have waited a decade, and this democratic momentum will not be hijacked. We unequivocally urge the general public and all relevant government authorities to disregard this transparent, malicious charade founded on ill-gotten gains and corrupt ambition. The Caretaker Committee must remain laser-focused and resolute, concentrating all efforts on ensuring the gazetted constitution of Ndi Amankanu is upheld without compromise. The era of corrupt leadership is collapsing, and legitimate progress is finally at hand. Rev. Akachukwu Agu Youth Leader Amankanu Ohofia Oduma Autonomous Community

The memory of the Labour Party’s stunning near-victory in the 2023 Enugu gubernatorial election remains fresh, and the focus is now squarely on the man considered the silent architect of that political earthquake: Dr. John Nwokeabia, the former deputy governorship candidate. His formidable influence and aura of unwavering competence that "intimidating quality" of quiet authorityare now fueling a massive, cross-sectoral movement urgently calling for him to contest the 2027 Governorship race. The most recent vocal contingent is the Forum for Christian Elders in Enugu State, whose formidable structure cut across hundreds of churches in the state. They see him as the moral anchor needed to rescue the state. However, the clarion call extends far beyond the faith community, now including a robust coalition of aggrieved and hopeful groups: The Enugu Progressive Traders Union (EPTU), representing thousands of small-to-medium business owners, has issued a public appeal, citing his strong anti-taxation stance. They are desperate for an end to the excessive taxation that crippled their enterprises, viewing him as the only leader capable of instituting a business-friendly environment. The Rural Development Action Coalition (RDAC), comprising over 50 community youth groups from the neglected hinterlands, demands his candidacy. They emphasize his articulate vision for inclusive governance, arguing that his leadership is essential to reverse the pervasive absence of rural development and provide basic amenities. A newly formed non-partisan group, Enugu Water Rights Advocates (EWRA), supported by key academic figures, insists he must run to address the persistent lack of potable water. They highlight his detailed commitment to sustainable solutions, a necessity for the health and dignity of countless citizens. Significantly, a caucus of Labour Party grassroots mobilisers who were instrumental in the 2023 performance have reportedly approached him, stressing that his leadership is the key to finally securing the mandate the party narrowly missed. This unprecedented multi-group urgency stems from the conviction that Dr. Nwokeabia's blend of integrity and formidable political will offers the clearest path to resolving the state's deep-seated issues. His 2023 impact has made him the consensus choice of those seeking tangible change, transforming his intimidating quality into the beacon of leadership Enugu State desperately seeks for 2027.

By Chuks Collins and Emeka Chiaghanam A former stalwart of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof Theodore Okonkwo, has revealed that many stakeholders of the party are currently secretly working for the success of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election. Okonkwo, a professor of Law specialising in Environmental, Climate Change, Biodiversity and Maritime Law, hails from Ezenaja village, Oraukwu, in Idemili North Council had joined APGA in 2011. He then officially resigned from the party on September 25, 2025 to join the APC. Speaking about his defection, Prof. Okonkwo said APGA, once a vibrant movement founded on the principle of brotherhood, has lost its moral compass. “The truth is that APGA has been hijacked,” he declared. “Their slogan, 'Onye Aghana Nwanneya' (Be Your Brother’s Keeper), no longer hold true. "The party is now filled with injustice, fake promises, and a broken reward system.” He further disclosed that numerous APGA members are quietly working for Prince Ukachukwu’s impending victory. “Many stakeholders in APGA have sympathy for Ukachukwu,” he said. “They are working underground but can’t say it openly.” Prof. Okonkwo said his decision to join the APC was divinely inspired. Hear him, “It was not about inducement or persuasion. It was a spiritual revelation,” he explained. He drew guide from biblical parallels, saying, “In the Scripture, when Elijah was about to ascend into heaven, the sons of the prophets were aware of the moment but failed to grasp its deeper revelation. They rejoiced without understanding, but only Elisha caught the revelation and received the blessing. I, too, have caught the revelation of Ikukuoma’s (Ukachukwu’s) mission in Anambra. I don’t want to be like the sons of the prophet who clapped without understanding". According to him, the Soludo administration has failed to deliver on its promises. “We were excited when Gov Soludo came with the slogan, ‘I will fix it, it is not broken’. But now, it is broken into pieces,” he lamented. “The governor’s promises do not match the realities on ground. What happened to the ecological funds? My hometown, Oraukwu, is ravaged by erosion, yet nothing serious has been done.” He questioned the utilisation of the excess revenue accruing to the state from the removal of fuel subsidy. “The money coming into Anambra does not reflect in infrastructure or human development. The government is not transparent about its spendings” he added. On security, the professor described the situation in Anambra as “dire and unsustainable.” “I don’t travel into Anambra after 6 p.m. because of insecurity,” he said. “Even within the state, people avoid travelling at night. The security architecture is being used as a façade for political purposes ahead of the election.” Prof. Okonkwo argued that the APC candidate, Prince Ukachukwu, represents a new hope for the state. “My encounter with him was refreshing,” he said. “I told him my only fear was that he might change when he becomes governor, and he laughed. I believe his humility and sincerity of purpose will drive meaningful development.” He urged Prince Ukachukwu to prioritise security, human development, and institution building. “If there is no security, there will be no investment or development,” he noted. “He should focus on developing people, not just infrastructure. Once individuals are empowered, they build strong families and communities. That is how lasting progress begins.” Drawing lessons from history, Okonkwo cited Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s free education policy as an example of visionary leadership. “When you develop an individual, you develop a nation,” he stressed. “Government does not create jobs; it creates the enabling environment for businesses to thrive and create jobs” He advised Ukachukwu to maintain humility and a cordial relationship with the APC-led Federal Government. “Leadership requires humility,” he said. “To build strong partnerships with Abuja, the governor must wear humility like a badge.” On the Soludo administration’s tax policies, he expressed dismay at what he described as crude enforcement method. “The so-called Akaodo revenue agents use pestles to threaten and force compliance on people. Even during colonial times, enforcement was not as harsh,” he said. He noted that Anambra needs a leader with vision, courage, and divine conviction. “I don’t hate anyone,” he said. “But Anambra State is greater than any individual. We need a change that restores dignity, fairness, and security to our people.” He therefore called citizens to massively support and vote APC, Ukachukwu on Nov 8, 2025 to usher in better life and new positive change experience

….from Dr John Nwokeabia In light of the recent developments regarding the case of Honorable Bright Ngene, the declared winner of the Enugu South State Assembly election under the Labour Party, it is a moment of renewed hope for democracy and the rule of law. The recent intervention of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in this matter is a commendable and timely act. It demonstrates that the legal profession in Nigeria and indeed the Nigerian Bar Association under the leadership of Mazi Afam Osigwe is committed to its role as the guardian of justice and a defender of fundamental human rights. In collaboration with Hon Bright Ngene’s lawyers, I understand that steps are being taken to approach the registrar of the new court assigned the matter to obtain date and begin the judicial process for determination of Mr Bright’s Appeal. With this, the NBA has shown its concern for a fair and expedited legal process and I must thank the leadership of the NBA for this bold and necessary step, and also for breaking the news that the matter has been asdigned to a court for adjudication. We implore the court to consider the pleas for a speedy and impartial review of the case for a possible release of Honorable Ngene. This would not only be a triumph for justice but also a reaffirmation of the judiciary's independence. To all Labour Party faithfuls, this is a moment to be hopeful. As leaders of the Party we would not rest on our shoulders until we see that Hon Bright Ngene gets justice. Moreso, the recent intervention by the NBA as represented by a delegation that visited him in Enugu Correctional centre last week are strong indications that the struggle for justice is gaining momentum. Let us remain steadfast in our belief that the appeal of Honorable Bright Ngene will be favourable so that he will be released soon to represent his constituency in the State Assembly. Let us extend our solidarity in this his trying moments also to his wife and family. Thank you and God bless Enugu State In Solidarity, Dr John Nwokeabia Labour Party Enugu State 7th September, 2025

We, the CONCERNS CITIZENS OF ANINRI, humbly bring to your attention a pressing matter that threatens the very fabric of our community's tradition and governance structure. The Local Government Chairman of Aninri, Hon. Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, is recklessly attempting to subvert a gazetted constitution of the Amankanu Autonomous community in Oduma, and impose a traditional ruler in the community, disregarding the wishes of the people. This brazen attempt to hijack our tradition and constitution is an affront to our heritage and a clear breach of the principles of good governance and democracy that your administration has consistently upheld. The Chairman's actions are capable of igniting tension and crises in the local government, detrimental to the peace and stability that your administration has worked tirelessly to maintain. The Constitutional Framework Our community's constitution, gazetted in 2020, outlines a rotational leadership structure between Group A and Group B. The constitution clearly states that the kingship rotates according to seniority, with Umuoro being the eldest kindred in Group A. When Umuoro couldn't produce a king within the stipulated timeframe, the right was transferred to Uhuogwudu, the second in line of seniority in Group A, in accordance with the constitution. The Chairman's Plan The Local Government Chairman, in a display of arrogance, has boasted about his ability to "make and unmake" and has appointed a caretaker PG on his own with no regard to the ministry of local government and Chieftaincy matters to perfect his plan. Despite Umuoro's clear stance that they cannot take the Offor back from Uhuogwudu, the Chairman is determined to recruit a few Umuoro individuals to ensure the staff is returned, solely due to his hatred for Uhuogwudu and his quest to crown his inlaw the traditional ruler of Amankanu. Our Plea to Your Excellency We humbly implore you to intervene in this matter and ensure that our constitution stands. We request that you: 1. Uphold the Constitution: Ensure that the election of the traditional ruler follows the gazetted constitution. 2. Protect Our Tradition: Prevent the Local Government Chairman from imposing an unpopular candidate as the traditional ruler in Amankanu and Aninri as a whole. 3. Maintain Peace and Stability: Take necessary steps to prevent the Chairman's actions from igniting tension and crises in our communities in Aninri. Investigation and Action We also bring to your attention that the Chairman is bent on thwarting the constitution to ensure his in-law is made the traditional ruler of Amankanu Autonomous community. It is imperative that the Chairman's activities in interfering with traditional installations be investigated. His boasts of installing traditional rulers to influence election should the governor fail to return him. This is very alarming and should not be allowed to ignite fire in Aninri. We count on your leadership and commitment to democracy, good governance, and the rule of law to protect our tradition and ensure that the will of the people stands. Copied - Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly - The Secretary to the Enugu State Government - Commissioner for Local and Chieftaincy Matters - The Chairman, Aninri Local Government Area - President General, Amankanu Autonomous community We eagerly await your prompt intervention in a matter that affects the very fabric of our community's tradition and governance structure. We are confident that under your leadership, justice and fairness will prevail, and our community will continue to thrive in peace and stability. Sincerely, Rotr. “Renaissance man, also called Universal Man, Italian Uomo Universale, an ideal that developed in Renaissance Italy from the notion expressed by one of its most-accomplished representatives, Leon Battista Alberti that “a man can do all things if he will.”hg The ideal embodied the basic tenets of Renaissance humanism, which considered man the center of the universe, limitless in his capacities for development, and led to the notion that men should try to embrace all knowledge and develop their own capacities as fully as possible and use it maximally to improve humanity, especially when strength of knowledge and agility counts” The Enugu Progressives People's Assembly (EPPA) has thrown its weight behind Dr. John Nwokeabia for the 2027 governorship election, hailing him as a modern-day Renaissance man with broad talents and expertise. In a press release, Engr. Dr. Ugona C. Akah, EPPA's President, emphasized Dr. Nwokeabia's capabilities and experience, positioning him as a strong contender for the election and appealed to him to join the governorship Race in the state. . Dr. Nwokeabia is described as a Renaissance man with genuine competence in multiple fields, making him a talented and productive individual. EPPA highlighted his track record of excellence, innovative mindset, and ability to handle complex issues with outstanding results. The majority of Enugu State electorates, especially in the Labour Party/Obidient family, believe Dr. Nwokeabia stands a better chance of winning the governorship election with a significant margin. EPPA advocates for electing leaders based on antecedents, competence, and capability rather than zoning or sentiment. The group urges thinking outside the box for the development of Enugu State and promoting a level playing field for allh candidates to compete. Engr. Dr. Ugona C. Akah said, "For Enugu 2027, Dr. John Nwokeabia is the man we want." Mazi Clinton Ibeabuchi added, "Dr. John Nwokeabia will make the best governor Nigeria ever produced, mark my word." The Enugu Progressives People's Assembly (EPPA) is confident that Dr. John Nwokeabia's leadership will bring about positive change and development to Enugu State. With his impressive track record and broad expertise, Dr. Nwokeabia is well-positioned to lead the state towards unprecedented advancement.

Leader: Mazi Ikenga Aniukpai Secretary: Chief Mrs. Veronica To the esteemed Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, We, the Concerns Citizens of Aninri, are compelled to bring to light the egregious actions of the Local Government Chairman, whose selfish interests are threatening the very fabric of our community's tradition and governance structure. The Chairman's blatant disregard for due process and the constitution has sparked widespread concern, and we call upon you to intervene in this matter. The Chairman's track record of controversy is alarming. The dissolution of the PG without due process, the Ameke Traditional Ruler's tussle, and now, the attempt to install his friend and in-law as traditional ruler in Amankanu, all point to a pattern of self-serving behavior. His boasts of being able to "make and unmake" are a stark reminder of his arrogance and disregard for the law. The Chairman's current plan to change the constitution of Amankanu to favor his in-law is a brazen attempt to subvert the will of the people. The gazetted constitution, which has been in place for close to a decade, clearly outlines the rotational leadership structure between Group A and Group B. The facts are clear: Umuogwudu is the rightful kindred to produce the next Igwe, as evidenced by the transfer of authority and the rituals and traditions observed. Many community leaders have spoken out against this affront to tradition and the constitution and emphasized the importance of respecting tradition and the constitution. We have equally witnessed same chaotic and dangerous ambition of the local government Chairman in his style of governance leading to suspension and counter suspensions. The image of our local government is at stake, and we cannot stand idly by while the Chairman attempts to ignite fire in Aninri. His actions are capable of igniting tension and crises across the local government, and it is imperative that we act swiftly to prevent this. Furthermore, it has come to our attention that the Chairman is trying to install traditional rulers he will use as bargaining chips to influence governor Mbah's administration, should the governor fail to return him for a second term. Having boosted to the people how the governor is afraid of him, one wonders his influence in the administration. We demand that you takes immediate action to: - Uphold the constitution and ensure that the election of the traditional ruler follows the gazetted constitution. - Protect our tradition and ensure that the will of the people stands. - Prevent the Chairman from imposing his in-law as traditional ruler against the will of the people. . We reiterate our support for your administration and count on your leadership to address this matter. We will continue to support your administration and work towards the development and progress of our community. Signed Mazi Ikenga Aniukpai Leader, Concerns Citizens of Aninri Chief Mrs. Veronica Mbah Secretary, Concerns Citizens of Aninri |
Dear Esteemed Labour Party Faithful and Obidients, I am writing to address recent developments and clarify our position regarding the coalition movement in Enugu State. I understand the eagerness for information and the frustration that can arise from a vacuum, which often allows misinformation to flourish. It is a natural consequence of a dynamic political environment, and it is crucial that we remain united and well-informed. Positive progress is being made within our coalition with the ADC party. However, as is common in such alliances, opposing forces are actively spreading false narratives to sow confusion and division. I have had reason to speak with you in the past about our relationship with this coalition, and I am doing so again to provide clarity and reaffirm our strategic direction. Let me be unequivocal: the guiding principles and instructions from our principal, *His Excellency Peter Obi*, have not changed. Our primary mandate remains to continue growing and consolidating our base in Enugu State. Simultaneously, we must work collaboratively and with the specific directives of our leaders to help the ADC establish a strong and viable presence in the state. This two-pronged approach is essential for achieving our shared political goals. In the coming days, myself and our *Distinguished Senator Okay Ezea* will be issuing a detailed set of directives outlining our modus operandi with our coalition partners. In the interim, I urge every one of us to maintain a cordial and professional working relationship with our allies. Our collective objective is to enthrone a government that truly represents the interests of all citizens—one that works for the many, not just a select few or for the rich. Finally, I appeal to all of you to remain steadfast and unwavering in your belief in the vision of His Excellency Peter Obi for a New Nigeria. We must not be swayed by rumors of defections to the APC of the government in power in Enugu Sate. These we believe are political pressures from above. Enugu will be in safe hands with Labour and our partners. Thank you for your dedication and commitment. Long live the Coalition Long live Enugu State. Sincerely, Dr. John Nwokeabia July, 31st 2025

"We call on Dr. John Nwokeabia, our former Deputy Governorship candidate, to throw his hat into the ring for the 2027 gubernatorial election," said Dr. Jonathan Ugwuoko, Director of Media and Publicity of the Labour Party Young Progressives. "Even though Dr. Nwokeabia hails from Greater Awgu, a zone that has been marginalized, we are not talking about zoning or political turn-taking. What we are saying is that it's time to entrench competence in our political sphere to save the state from poor management and misplaced priorities from the giver. Dr. John Nwokeabia is not just a brand; he has proven himself as a force and leader of both the poor and the rich." Dr. Ugwuoko further stated, "Dr. Nwokeabia's impressive credentials, leadership experience, expertise, and humanitarian nature make him an attractive candidate to drive positive change in Enugu State. No nation or society advances by practicing zoning or political turn-taking. We need competent leadership that prioritizes the well-being of all citizens." "We want these political merchants out, to usher in people-oriented leaders like Dr. John Nwokeabia who will represent the poor, not the elite, like what we have been seeing in Enugu State since 1999. Dr. Nwokeabia's commitment to relieving people from poverty, his experience, and humanitarian nature make him uniquely qualified to lead Enugu State. His role in leading the Labour Party to victory in the last election demonstrates his leadership capabilities. Unlike the current crop of politicians, Dr. Nwokeabia is not beholden to entrenched interests and is committed to driving the needed change," Dr. Ugwuoko added. The Labour Party Young Progressives believe that prioritizing competence over zoning or turn-taking is essential for effective governance and progress in Enugu State come 2027. "With Dr. John Nwokeabia's credentials and experience, he could be an excellent candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election. By putting competence first, Enugu State can take a significant step towards a building sound and economically buoyant state, driven by innovative leadership and a commitment to the well-being of its citizens and not the political class," Dr. Ugwuoko concluded. As one travels around Enugu State, numerous ongoing projects are visible, especially within the metropolis. However, a pertinent question arises: why the rush? Why engage in over 200 projects simultaneously without proper monitoring? Many Enugu residents commend the governor's efforts to make Enugu State great again, but we wonder about the haste. The selection process for contractors handling these projects also raises concerns, as it appears that due process was not followed. We doubt whether His Excellency, the governor, approves of such contractors managing projects in this manner. Based on the ongoing works, we can categorically state that at least 70% of the projects in Enugu may not last more than two years. We urge His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to instruct the Ministry of Works to fulfill its responsibilities or establish a monitoring team to supervise the ongoing projects before it's too late. The resources being utilized are taxpayers' money, belonging to Ndi Enugu, and should be used to deliver quality work that will benefit them. We appeal to His Excellency the governor to allocate time from his busy schedule to visit project sites personally and witness the quality of work being done by these contractors. Some are using substandard materials, while others merely provide instructions to artisans and leave for days or weeks without proper oversight. To illustrate our concerns, we highlight a few examples: 1. The New Artisan-Goshen Estate Road construction project exhibits poor workmanship and an unprofessional approach, as evidenced by the covering of originally designed drainage, leading to flooding during rainfall, which affects road users, shop owners, and residents. 2. The Timber Shield-Ugwuaji Road construction uses substandard materials, which would be revealed by concrete tests. 3. Hotel Presidential's construction appears impressive from a distance but uses materials that are not fit for purpose. We are also perplexed by the small size of some projects, such as a smart school built on only two or three plots of land. Notably, the contractors are rushing to complete these projects using substandard materials, merely to meet deadlines. If integrity tests were conducted, most of these buildings would likely not be allowed to continue. Therefore, we request that the governor, through the Ministry of Works and other agencies, thoroughly examine the design and nature of building and road construction specifications undertaken by these companies. Ndi Enugu deserves the best from Governor Mbah. If the works continue unchecked, it will result in projects that are "two years in, two years out." The governor cannot afford to waste taxpayers' money in this manner. We encourage him not only to view the projects through media or digital means but to visit the sites, and he will be surprised at what he will encounter. Enugu State is a city and should not be a testing ground for inexperienced contractors with no address or expertise. Hon. Omeje Nnamdi is The Leader ADP and Former Governorship Candidate in the State.

Unveiling the Truth: The Amankanu - Oduma Royal Succession Saga A recent publication claiming to originate from Umuoro Kindred has sparked heated debates over the traditional leadership tussle in Amankanu, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State. However, a closer look at the facts reveals that Uhuogwudu is the rightful kindred to produce the next Igwe. The Constitutional Framework In 2016, Amankanu gained autonomy and drafted a constitution outlining a rotational leadership structure between Group A and Group B. The constitution clearly states that the kingship rotates according to seniority, with Umuoro being the eldest kindred in Group A. Group A comprises Umuoro, Uhuogwudu, Umuanikwu, and Uhuobia, while Group B consists of Umuokogu, Umuogo, Umunakpu, Uhuoro, and Umuoduhu. The Transfer of Authority When Umuoro couldn't produce a king within the stipulated timeframe of six months, the right was transferred to Uhuogwudu, the second in line of seniority in Group A, in accordance with the constitution. This transfer was done willingly by Umuoro, with the eldest man in Umuoro, Orji Achita thru Abel Okorie who is the second in line of seniority handing over the staff of authority (Offor) to Chief Innocent Okorie Ekpete from Uhuogwudu on December 7th, 2018. The ceremony marked a significant moment in the community's history. The Rituals and Traditions Given the rituals and traditions already observed, it's clear that Uhuogwudu is the rightful kindred to produce the king. Orji Achita's inability to perform the Iwa Ji rituals, a high-valued and iconic traditional practice in Oduma, led to Abel Okorie, the second in line, performing the rituals, and Chief Innocent Okorie Ekpete being crowned the king. Community Leaders Speak Out Community leaders, including Chief Oji Linus, a civil servant and Traditional Prime Minister (Onowu) of the community, have emphasized the importance of respecting tradition and the constitution. Chief Oji Linus stated, "I will continue to defend what is right and can't be party to anything that goes against the norm and tradition of my community for the sake of our ancestors." The Importance of Respecting Tradition The community's leaders, including one of the Counsellors, have also emphasized the importance of respecting tradition and the constitution. The Hon stated, "There is something I want you to know, for this Offor (staff of authority) to be transferred to Uhuogwudu close to a decade now is not by accident... Uhuogwudu is the rightful people to produce the Igwe." Conclusion As Nze Livinus Ani, a farmer and elder from Umuogo, aptly put it, "I stand on the side of justice and nothing more. No one should light fire in our community because you feel you are being sponsored by an enemy of the community... Must we politicize everything?" The facts are clear, and it's time for the community to unite behind the rightful kindred, Uhuogwudu, to produce the next King of Amankanu.

By Chuks Collins, Awka July 4, 2025 . bent on "change" on Nov 8 decry primitive tax collection mode The resolve of Anambra State electorates to effect a major gubernatorial change in the State come November 8,2025 appear total and overwhelming. Addressing a surging crowd of enthusiastic supporters at Ndikelionwu, Orumba North Council when the Aguata political bloc hosted the All Progressives Congress Gubernatorial candidate for the fast approaching election in the the State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, who has been on a "Thank You" tour for supporting him at the party's recent primary election, a key stakeholder in the area, Chief Tagbo Ike, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN) regretted that the zone put Anambra State in the present administrative quandary plaguing the state today. According to him, it was inexplicably sad that he unleashed multiple sadistic groups on the hapless citizens. Consequently they kept praying for a deliverer like Ikukuoma to show up, until now. Orumba North, Orumba South and Aguata Councils that made up the Old Aguata Union political bloc admit that it beat their imagination that a well educated personality like Prof Soludo would be lost in the crowd of statecraft of Anambra State. That Anambra was populated by fairly very educated and learned citizens hence managing our state won't be too difficult. But that the governor, instead left the citizens in the hands of bunch of coldhearted pestle and cudgels bearing men. Men without human feelings, soul or conscience. These archaic and primitive tax administration pattern, according to APC faithful in Anaocha Council was jettisoned by today's men decades ago. But unfortunately our Prof Soludo is neck deep in the ugly pattern. We wonder whether this was the African Dubai Taiwan (ADT)he promised? They have allegedly been maiming, killing, locking up and kidnapping our citizens and those few we convinced to open shops, offices and industries in our dear State. While our State and citizens keep wallowing in want, need and lack, Prof Soludo has been chasing shadows. He's chasing around and arresting native doctors and women without brassieres/pants. Old Aguata Union has resolved to withdraw our initial support for Soludo. We have now decided to shift that our bloc vote and support to Ukachukwu/Ekwunife ticket. All roads now lead to APC.

The chieftaincy tussle in Amankanu community has been ongoing for over a decade, leaving the community without a king and in a state of uncertainty. The root of the problem lies in a disputed constitution, which was initially drafted in 2016 under the Governor Ugwuanyi regime. According to the constitution, the kingship rotates in a specific order of seniority between Group A and Group B, namely Amankanu Ndi Ulo and Amankanu Ndi Agu. As the most senior group, Amankanu Ndi Ulo is designated to produce the king of the new autonomous community. Within Amankanu Ndi Ulo, the responsibility falls on Umuolo to produce the next king. The constitution notes that any village that fails to produce a king after six months should transfer the right to the next in line of seniority. After six months, Umuolo made a pronouncement that they couldn't produce the king, and by default, the right was transferred to Umuogudu, which brought forth Chief Innocent Ekpete from Umuogudu to be crowned as the king. I vividly recall that the staff of the office (offor) was handed over to Chief Innocent Okorie Ekpete on December 7, 2017 by the eldest man in Umu-olo, one Chief Abel in a celebrated event. The same constitution stipulates that Amankanu Ndi Agu would produce the President General (PG), a position that Umuekeogu, being the first in Group B, is currently occupying. It raises questions why the 7th in line of seniority in Group A would vie for the traditional ruler's stool, which is totally against the constitution that designated the most senior in Amankanu Ndi Ulo, specifically noting the order of seniority, with Umuolo being the first, followed by Umuogudu. . However, some individuals, led by Isaac Udeh, Basil Aja, and Dr. DC Okoro, have been accused of manipulating the system for their selfish interests. They brought forth Simon Okeke Ude, from the 7th village in line of seniority, rewrite the constitution and introduce a new system that the king can come from any village. This move has been met with resistance from the community, who argue that it goes against the traditional and constitutional order of seniority. The community had previously accepted the crowning of Chief Innocent Okorie Ekpete as the king, and the production of the first PG from Umuokeogu in 2018, which followed the order of seniority. The actions of these individuals have caused significant harm to the community, denying them of good things and causing chaos. They have allegedly used money to scatter the community and have even resorted to harassing community leaders with police, leading to false accusations and imprisonment. At one point around 2018/19, these individuals went as far as to allege false accusations against nine community leaders, who were arrested and detained for over six months. Used frivolous court process to frustrate the issuance of certificate to Chief Innocent Okorie Ekpete. This has created a toxic environment, where community leaders live in fear of persecution. The community is crying out for urgent intervention to restore peace and order. The question remains: how long will Amankanu suffer without a king due to the selfish agendas of a few individuals? The Community's Plea: Restore our king, restore our peace. Let the constitution be respected, and the traditional order of seniority be upheld. We urge the authorities to intervene and ensure that the community's interests are protected. The community demands: 1. Respect for the constitution and traditional order of seniority. 2. Urgent intervention to restore peace and order. 3. Protection of community leaders from harassment and persecution. Only through urgent action can the community hope to find peace and prosperity once again. Concerns Citizens of Amankanu, led by Chief Dr. Joel Tochukwu Mba
