Glimpsetv: A 19-year-old man lost his life on Sunday morning after deliberately entering a lioness enclosure at the Arruda Câmara Zoobotanical Park (known locally as Bica) in João Pessoa, Brazil.
Gerson de Melo Machado scaled a roughly six-metre wall and security fencing before using a tree to lower himself into the enclosure. Visitors captured the moment on video as the lioness, named Leona, approached the base of the tree. When Machado neared the ground, she attacked, pulling him down. He briefly tried to move away but was attacked again. He died from his injuries, with officials later confirming severe bleeding from wounds to the neck vessels.
Park and municipal authorities stated that Machado intentionally invaded the enclosure in a rapid and unexpected manner. Security staff attempted to intervene but could not prevent him from entering. The lioness acted on instinct, and zoo officials have confirmed she will not be euthanized. The park closed temporarily while investigations continue.
Those who knew Machado said he had long dreamed of becoming a lion tamer and had struggled with mental health challenges, including a diagnosis of schizophrenia. His child welfare counsellor described a young man whose aspirations and difficulties had shaped much of his life.
The incident has left the community and zoo staff deeply saddened. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of entering animal enclosures and the importance of mental health support. Officials have reiterated that the park follows strict safety protocols and continues to prioritise the wellbeing of both visitors and the animals in its care.
Pure suicide! At his age, he should have known what lionesses are capable of. I wonder what was running through his mind the moment the lioness approached the tree.
He even had a chance of escaping but he chose to still sllde down the tree as if he was trying to see what the lioness would do.
Whatever! I still have not understood the importance or the idea behind Bands thing.
Imagine getting 177.6 units of electricity for 50k and this does not even last half a month at times, all in the name of band A.
Meanwhile, some people in other bands get over 280 units for just 10k This is complete madness and whosoever is behind the band idea is crazy, completly Mad!
Why not make electricity available to all and bill everyone according to their uses?
Dey play I stopped using samsung because of cracked screen, ink on screen etc.
I have always suspected something was wrong somewhere because, tell me why phone of less than a year will be having ink on the screen, not that it fell down.
The most heart breaking one was that of my S series that I woke up to see having a dark spot at the top right side of the screen.
I thought of so many things, if I did not sleep alone in my room that night, I bet I would have thought someone mistakenly stepped on it.
To make it worse, the screen replacement is so high that it would almost buy yhu a new phone.
Glimpsetv: A short viral video has left many Nigerians stunned and disgusted. Posted on the evening of 23 August 2026 by user @Prince_dc21_, the clip shows a man in Lagos repeatedly reaching into a filthy, stagnant drainage channel and pulling out large, mud-caked yams.
In the footage, the man bends over the open gutter, digs through the dark, debris-filled water, and lifts out tuber after tuber, stacking them on the ground beside the drain. The yams are visibly dirty, and water drips from them as he works.
According to the original poster, when the man was asked what he was doing, he claimed he was “preserving” the yams by keeping them inside the gutter. The post went on to question when open drains became an acceptable storage method and whether the practice could possibly be healthy.
Not everyone accepted the explanation. Some commenters suggested the yams may have simply fallen into the gutter and the man was only retrieving them, arguing that the video itself contains no clear audio confirmation of the “preservation” claim. Others treated the clip as yet another example of the everyday sanitation challenges many residents face in Lagos.
Regardless of the exact motive, the images alone have triggered widespread reactions ranging from shock and dark humour to serious concern about food safety. Open gutters in densely populated areas often carry wastewater, refuse, and contaminants. Using them to store food raises obvious health questions.
The video has already racked up tens of thousands of views and continues to fuel online discussion about hygiene standards, food handling, and living conditions in parts of the city.

Ironfaceman: Some nairalanders will condemn Nigeria police for searching their phones but will support this barbaric act.
Anyway you reap what you sow.
Under what circumstances and how many times have yhu heard of such cases abroad?
I don't know why yhu people are always quick to bring Nigeria into issues like this, when yhu and I know what an average Nigerian police is capable of doing.
Most times, the police here will not stop and search yhu simply because he is really doing his duty or out to catch criminals, they do it because of extortion. They are always looking for how to bill yhu. Even if yhu are guilty of the crime, just spend some money and yhu are cleared.
Petehegseth: Oga stop crying for iran on a war that if it were you you for don sell your land and family beg USA for your life. Mind ur poverty stricken business

I have never seen a stupidly arrogant set of people like these guys..... They assume too much air, now they're learning in the hard way. I know their arrogance won't make them to accept the peace deal yet.
They will keep getting hit until they come crawling on their knees and begging for peace ✌️
Gross! The moment I saw " beaten to death by his own fellow Christian friends" i just knew someone is happy to share the news and I wasn't disappointed to see the person behind the X account.
Celebrate all yhu want, it still won't change the fact that some certain religious people are known to kill and burn innocent people as a delight and pleasure in defence of their own religion.
