Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has revealed the next place his administration will shut down amid the enforcement of the ban on the Monday sit-at-home in the state. Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, the governor said schools are next to be shut down if they do not comply with the sit-at-home ban. He expressed frustration at the traders’ decision to stay off business premises on Monday despite prior warnings from the government to end adherence to the sit-at-home order. “And like I said before, we’re not going to train our children in the 21st century by going to school four days a week, absolute nonsense. And this, of course, obviously, has stopped. We are going to open the schools, and we’re going to take the same measures. “If you are running a private school and if you are not open, we will come and slam it and lock it up, because we’ve given you the permission to operate there as a school. And in Anambra, the school days are Monday through Friday. “For the sake of this state, for our children, for these poor people, poor traders, poor farmers and all who depend on these markets being open, we cannot have this so the struggle is to save the economy of Anambra, secure our future, save our children, keep our markets open and reassure our investors, who are pouring in now, that Anambra is not a four day week. It’s a five or six day week,” he said. https://flexnews.buzz/video-sit-at-home-ban-gov-soludo-names-next-place-to-be-shut-down/

The Anambra State government has ordered traders in twelve additional markets to operate normally on Mondays, warning that failure to comply could lead to temporary market closures. The move comes after the state shut down Onitsha Main Market for one week following traders’ refusal to open on Mondays, which the government said disrupted business activities. The markets now required to open include Ochanja Central Market, Bridgehead Market, Ogbaru Main Market, Building Materials Market Ogidi, Agba-Edo Auto Spare Parts Market Nnewi, New Auto and Motorcycle Spare Parts Market Nnewi, Fairly Used Motorcycle Spare Parts Market Nnewi, New Auto Spare Parts Market Nkpor, Nkpor Main Market, Old Mercedes Benz Spare Parts Dealers Market Nkpor, Old Motor Spare Parts Market Obosi, and Electrical Dealers International Market, Obosi. A circular titled “Abolishment of Monday Sit-at-Home,” signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, instructed market leaders to inform traders to resume full business on Mondays as directed by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo. The government will carry out random inspections, and markets that fail to follow the order may be closed for up to one month. Shops that remain closed risk being sealed, and owners may face legal consequences. Governor Soludo has scheduled a meeting with market leaders for Thursday, January 29, at the International Convention Centre in Awka to discuss market operations and the Monday sit-at-home order. Chairmen, secretaries, zonal leaders, and line chairpersons from markets across the state are expected to attend. The government said the meeting was requested by some market leaders seeking the reopening of Onitsha Main Market, not as a reaction to traders’ protest earlier this week. Security will be increased during the meeting to ensure it runs without disruption. https://mcebiscoo.com/full-list-soludo-bans-sit-at-home-in-12-more-anambra-markets/

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has been chosen as the Oloja of Lagos elect by the King Kosoko Royal Family. The announcement was made on Monday at the King Kosoko Palace in Ereko, Lagos Island, where members of the royal family gathered for the formal unveiling. The presentation was led by the Olori Ebi General of the King Kosoko Royal Family, Mutiat Ali-Balogun. As part of the tradition, she raised the hand of Kosoko’s daughter to affirm the family’s decision. She was joined by the Deputy Olori Ebi General and head of the Meshimo Ruling House, Oyindamola Ayepola. Members of the family said the selection followed laid-down customs and laws guiding the choice of a new Oloja of Lagos. The stool has remained vacant since the death of Adebola Ige on December 23, 2017. They explained that a 16-member committee was set up to manage the succession process. In October 2020, the committee invited eligible princes from the Akinsanya Olojo Kosoko Ruling House to the palace for screening. Four princes took part in the process. After several meetings and careful consideration, the committee agreed that Kosoko was the most suitable choice in line with tradition, the Lagos State Obas and Chiefs Law, and the 1983 Registered Declaration on succession. After his selection, members of the ruling house said they made several moves to the Lagos State Government to seek approval for his installation and capping. The next step is the traditional installation and capping ceremony, which is expected to be performed by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, in accordance with palace customs. Kosoko, who is in his seventies, started his acting career as a child in 1964. He has spent decades in theatre, film and television, building a strong career as an actor, director and producer. https://mcebiscoo.com/celebrity-to-traditional-ruler-jide-kosoko-now-oloja-of-lagos/
