The screenshots are meant to do only one thing; show how I'm complaining about how people price web design and not to show my full conversation with this person.

If you look at the messages, you'll see that he was asking for a cheap domain. If you knew about domains and hosting you would know that .online is a cheap one compared to a .com domain and that is why I offered him that

- the host
- the domain
- if you’re actually coding it from scratch and not a script that you are rewriting, and rarely will you see anyone doing this this days. People pick up a script and begin to rewrite and recode it to their taste which I am very sure it’s what u would have also done (I might be wrong)
- your workmanship
- maybe SEO, depending on what the client wants and even at that SEO is not expensive to run, except you buying backlinks.

30k for workmanship might be too small which is understandable but coming here to paint your client bad is just not it.

You're right these are things that determine how much a developer should charge. 30k was the price he offered for the whole thing as he believed that a domain and hosting would cost barely anything. The problem with these new comments is the fact you think I was being offered 30k as charge for building the website and decided to come on here to complain about that.

Read the message I added to the screenshot. The very first thing I wrote.

And the idea wasn't to paint anyone bad. I simply made a post asking if other developers were facing the same issue with these low offers because this was not my first time getting an offer like this for a full website.
And this post was so designed to sort of tilt viewers and possible new clients away from the belief that websites can be made for as low as 30,000

The bolded is not true based on the screenshots you have shared. The N30k is for Web design Only. Which is okay based on what your colleagues on Nairaland have popularised (get perfect working website for just N20k). I don't know why you are avoiding the fact that he told you he can handle domain and hosting. And that was the point your negotiations went off rail as you refused to give him your quote for ONLY web design and then got angry at him
So why are you sharing only some screenshots and leaving out others which are "relevant" since you decided to share on Nairaland.
It seems like you like trying to sound so technical hoping it will help you get paid. It actually does the opposite. What is chatbot got to do with a website you acknowledge in the screenshot as a "simple webpage" ? The screenshot you have posted is sufficient for anyone to make inference on this issue even though it would have been appropriate to also hear from the other party (your client) but just reading your response again to him, I am in no doubt as to what is at stack here. Oga there is nothing special about web design in 2024. I have been doing it since 2017. Especially the way your nairaland N20k colleagues go about it "Upload script edit lorem ipsum"

Reading the messages again I kind of see why you have this belief. And I almost even questioned that you might have been right about it too and that he was offering 30,000 as payment for the site and that he was willing to handle the payment for a domain separately. But you can see that wasn't the case. Because right after I said a domain and hosting would cost that 30,000 (if you're using g054 to get one of their cheap domains), The conversation switched to being an argument of some sort. And if you read my message you'll see my quote! I said I'd be charging 100k for the website. My quote is clearly stated in the screenshot

Yes from my screenshots you see that I categorize the site as a simple webpage. Why? Because the client didn't want a major online store that would include a section for vendors to add details or anything like that. He wanted me to build a replica of a site and planned to sell the exact same products~ A design I consider simple to do even with the fact he needed a support system built too. Yo you were not the one having the conversation with the client so choosing to pick off at random things is just off to read.

You cannot say the web designer who was asked to build an ecommerce site for this amount and complains about it is at fault. No sirr no way.

And yes I'd agree with the fact that web design isn't all that anymore. You've been building sites since 2017, I've been building sites for longer than that. And I'm familiar with the concept of just working on scripts for clients. I legit have an ad here where I posted about having customizable scripts available for sale. Basically, the client decides what option they want because you'd very naturally charge a client higher for a site that take you days to weeks to build compared to one that just takes hours from using a script.

And I started explaining how it works and that I'll be paying for a domain and hosting plan to make his website visible to internet users and he said it was a lie and he has guys that already told him how he can do it for less than that 30k. Mind you, I was taking my time to do the explanations for how the site would work, talking about adding chat support systems and a ton of other things you are not able to see in the screenshots I posted. Do not choose to go for the fact I straight up asked him to contact "his guys" for the website
If you had to explain over and over to a prospective client how web design works and he keeps telling you you're lying wouldn't your response be to let him go get it done elsewhere?

This guy wanted an ecommerce website, sent me a sample of what he wants and after we discussed how it'll be made he said he'll pay 30,000 naira for a professional ecommerce website he plans to get international buyers for products he'll sell

So I am a freelance developer on here and I make posts about online web design or graphic classes I'm tutoring from time to time and then website designs I have available for sale (mostly to stay known on this space as a developer and so I can grow my views and also get possible dev clients)

But recently I have had to deal with unreal and somewhat abusive individuals who come into my dms from here making requests for websites only to end up being abusive (after making unreal demands) ~ A PROFESSIONAL WEBSITE FOR ₦30,000?

Are any other developers here facing these problems too because honestly its unreal 😂

To do this, you'd need to have an app cloner on your pc. You'll need to use blustacks( I recomend that you download version 1)
After downloading bluestacks, install "Do Multispace" app. You can find it on playstore. THis app allows you to have multiple versions of the same app on your device.
