Former Benue state governor, Gabriel Suswam was today invited and interrogated by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC ,over allegations of fraud running into billions of Naira while he served as governor of the state.

EFCC's spokesman, Wilson Uwajuren who confirmed that Suswan was invited today, said “He was invited by the EFCC in connection with ongoing corruption investigation in Benue state.”

Last week, the former finance commissioner under Suswam's administration, Omadachi Oklobia was grilled for several hours at the anti-graft headquarters in Abuja to defend allegations of diversion of public funds, abuse of office, embezzlement and fraud committed by them while in office.

There was an explosion caused by a yet to be identified substance at Number 88 Oworo Road, in Oworonsoki area of Lagos State throwing the entire area into panic.

Eyewitness accounts say the loud bang was heard at about 2:15 pm when residents were returning to their respective homes after church service.

They revealed that many sustained injuries in attempts to escape from the scene of the blast, even though the number of casualty is yet to be ascertained as at press time.

Confirming the incident, Director of the Lagos Fire Service, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, noted that men of the Ilupeju Fire Service were dispatched to the area immediately a distressed call was received at about 2:20pm.

The ERT vehicle carrying 5 personnel of State Emergency Management Agency staff and NEMA staff somersaulted four times on the way to rescue people who were trapped in a flooded community. According to NEMA, the rear tyre burst on motion and vehicle had to be diverted into a canal. The officials sustained minor injuries and have been treated and discharged from the hospital.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has directed the immediate redeployment of all permanent secretaries in the state to ensure that they face new challenges.

The governor also warned all permanent secretaries to avoid partisan politics but remain committed to their duties as technical heads of their respective ministries and agencies.

He spoke at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Friday while swearing-in new permanent secretaries.

A gang of two robbers were apprehended and beaten by an angry mob along IBB way Maitama, Abuja on Tuesday Oct. 6th. The robbers, using a power bike, attempted to snatch a bank customer of undisclosed sum of money he'd just withdrawn from a bank along IBB way maitama. But for the timely arrival of the police, the angry mob almost set them ablaze.

The mother of the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, Deaconess Margaret Umahi, has died. Family sources say she died yesterday October 6th at an Enugu based hospital after a brief illness. Her remains have been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. She is survived by many children and grand children. May her soul rest in peace, Amen!

The Nigeria military has released pictures of some rescued victims after capturing the villages of Jerre and Dipchari and destroyed the terrorist camps in those areas.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations, in a statement, said advancing troops in the Bama axis have rescued yet another 62 people fleeing from Bitti and Pulka.

Two Nigerians with a lifeless human body in their possession, have been arrested by the Police in Accra.

This arrest took place in and around Haatso, a suburb of Accra, Thursday, after the Toyota Corolla car they were driving was stopped for inspection.

The lifeless body wrapped in a yellow Polythene, was found in the boot of the car.

Bauchi State-owned aircraft which was declared missing after ex governor Isa Yuguda exhausted his tenure has been found. The missing aircraft has landed in Nigeria from Morocco where the state government claimed it was discovered and recovered.

The Embraer ERJ 145 touched down on the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Bauchi at about 10 am Friday.

Its whereabouts had been a subject of controversy as the new government suggested the aircraft was stolen by its predecessor and hidden in Morocco.


In an address two weeks ago, Governor Mohammed Abubakar announced the airplane had been found in the north African country.
Mr. Abubakar said the state’s public Property Recovery Committee traced the plane.

“I wish to announce the fruitful efforts in locating the state owned “Embraer 145 aircraft in Morocco and soon it will land at the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa international Airport in a matter of days,” the governor said.

He said the plane would be returned to Nigeria within days.

In response, former Governor Isa Yuguda told journalists the plane was on lease to Overland Airways.

Mr. Yuguda said he had provided full details about the plane, which was bought by former Governor Adamu Mu’azu, in his handover notes.
He said the new administration did not require any assets recovery committee to know what happened to the aircraft.
