Unknown gunmen, suspected to be operatives of the IPOB's Eastern Security Network (ESN) have attacked and burnt the Imo state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), located along Port Harcourt road in Owerri. The attack took place between 2AM to 3AM on Monday.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji explained in details, saying the building of the Election and Political Party Monitoring Liason was attacked, together with part of the main building.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained its decision to collect Voter Identification Numbers (VINs) from Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) of Nigerians who registered several years ago but are yet to collect their PVCs.

INEC National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye in a statement yesterday said: "The commission had become aware of a video circulating on various social media platforms, showing some INEC staff at our Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area Office, Lagos extracting VINs from Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs) and entering same into their cellphones."

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the manifesto of his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi as an empty and vacuous document. According to Tinubu, the document is filled with graphics and demagogic rhetorics with no substance.

Tinubu said this in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga. Tinubu's comment was in reaction to the Labour Party and Obi's manifesto for the 2023 general elections, titled, "It is Possible: Our Pact with Nigerians."

The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council has condemned the gruesome killing of Mrs Victoria Chintex, the party's women leader in Kaduna state, blaming the incident on Governor Nasir El-Rufai as the Chief Security Officer of the state. The presidential campaign council stated this through its spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo.

Late Chintex was shot dead on Monday night by gunmen who reportedly broke into her residence at about 8pm.

The Publicity Secretary of LP in the Southern Kaduna senatorial zone, Edward Buju who confirmed the killing in a statement, described it as an unprovoked killing.

Bello Turji Kachalla, popularly known as Turji, a notorious terrorist and bandit leader operating in northern Nigeria, particularly Zamfara, Sokoto and Niger states has said the Nigerian government was not interested in ending banditry because some of its officials benefit from it.

A new report by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has shown that umarried young women contribute 64% of HIV/AIDS transmission in Nigeria. The report explains how they contribute more HIV infections in the country than men.

The Director General of the agency, Gambo Aliyu, while disclosing findings of the study in Abuja on Monday said the never married population, which is the largest source of new infections, is mostly between the ages of 17 to 34 for females and 19 to 31 for males.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that he has never lost any election he contested. Tinubu made this disclosure while criticizing the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal over his recent comments.

Recently, Lawal downplayed Tinubu's chances of winning the 2023 presidential election. Lawal said Tinubu can't win the 2023 presidential election with a Muslim/Muslim ticket. The former SGF claimed that the APC flag bearer disregarded Northern Christians by opting for a Muslim running mate.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has ordered its members and residents of the South East region to ignore the 5 days sit-at-home exercise called by pro Biafra activist, Simon Ekpa.

IPOB said it did not issue any sit-at-home while reacting to Ekpa's earlier directive that people should boycott social and commercial activities from 9th to 14th of December.

According to the Finland-based activist, the sit-at-home would serve as a protest in Igbo land against the forthcoming general elections next year.
