A 65 - year -old - man , Patrick Kalu, Railway Quarters, Minna , has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly sodomising a 15 - year -old boy , Victor Inne, of Karimo , Abuja .



Kalu was said to have had regular sexual intercourse with children aged 12 to 15 before his arrest .
Northern City News gathered that the father of three , who allegedly abandoned his family, hailed from Ohafia , Abia State and lived in Minna.




Kalu told our correspondent that he had been engaging in the act for over two years .
He denied engaging in sodomy for ritual purposes, saying it was only for pleasure as he enjoyed doing the act with young boys .




Kalu said , “I was doing it for pleasure . I started having the urge to sleep with little boys in my late 50 s and now it has ruined my entire life .
“I have rubbished my life and my reputation , I can ’t even start to talk about this or how I started it in the first place .



“It is evil . I pray that my children and my community will forgive me . I have been into this heinous act before I was apprehended by a team of police operatives in Minna. “
Kalu blamed himself for the act , saying , “ I don ’t deserve mercy at all , let the law take its course; I am stupid, honestly .”



He added , “I don’t know what came over me ; each time I see small boys , I would be tempted to have sexual intercourse with them . I don ’t know whether it is a curse placed on me . I usually entice my victims with money.”



The police command ’s Public Relations Officer, Abigail Unaeze, said the suspect was arrested for sodomising the teenageer at Railway Quarters, Minna, the state capital .



She said that the suspect lured the victim from Abuja to Minna under the guise that he would secure a job for him .


The PPRO added that the suspect would be charged to court after investigation .

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that it delisted about 72 designated Computer -based test centres for engaging in various acts of misconduct during the 2017 Unified Tertiary and Matriculations Examination held in different parts of the country .



The Registrar of JAMB , Prof . Ishaq Oloyede , disclosed this in Lagos at a meeting with the CBT owners and operators from the 36 states of the federation on Wednesday .




Oloyede said JAMB decided to delist the centres after it discovered that the operators extorted money from some candidates and engaged in other grievous actions , including an attempted rape in a particular case , during last year ’s examination .



He said , “Some centres collected the sum of N1 ,000 from each candidate as entrance fee , while a worker in a particular centre attempted to rape a female candidate . We have delisted 72 of such fraudulent centres and banned some for life .



“We are dealing with the perpetrators at an individual level, such that they cannot even abandon the delisted centre to set up a new one in another name . We have sent their names to the Corporate Affairs Commission .”



The registrar noted that about 90 per cent of failures recorded in the 2017 UTME were due to the fraudulent activities of some CBT owners, adding that they would be held culpable if they failed to expose the bad eggs among them .

The Niger State Ministry of Education has ordered the Vice Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Tunga , Niger State , Mohammed


Mohammed , who impregnated his 16 -year -old pupil , Faith Galadima, to take care of her and her baby for three years .



The Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Education , Yahaya Garba , on Wednesday said the accused had not been promoted or transferred by the ministry , adding that the ministry was not shielding him from prosecution.



Garba noted that Mohammed had been suspended from the school , while 50 per cent of his salary was being withheld pending the outcome of the case in court.



He said , “As a ministry, we did not want to make any public announcement of our stand, but because the issue has gone viral, we have to come out to state our stand. I will like to say that the Niger State Ministry of Education is not in any way shielding Mallam Mohammed . When the case got to us , we directed the state secondary education board to set up a seven - man committee .



“Based on the recommendation of the committee and the acceptance by Mohammed that he committed the crime , the Ministry of Education has placed him on half salary .



“We have also mandated Mohammed to take up the upkeep of both mother and child for three years . Mohammed has not been promoted or posted anywhere . He is still serving his suspension . The ministry will finally decide on his case after the court has concluded deliberation on it.”



The permanent secretary further stated that the willingness of the ministry to pay the money needed to carry out the DNA test was to expedite the case in court.

The National Coordinator of Strict Movement Against Ravages in Tivland , Gbakighir Sevendagas , has called on the Federal Government to prepare Sambisa Forest for herdsmen and their cows if it insists on maintaining grazing reserves or open grazing.



Sevendagas condemned the Fulani herdsmen ’s insistence on open grazing , while urging the Benue State Government to curb encroachment of major roads and streets for religious activities .



Earlier, the Benue State Governor , Samuel Ortom , had said the government would ensure the full implementation of the new anti -grazing law expected to come into force on Wednesday , November , 1 , 2017 .


Ortom said the law would be enforced , “even if it amounts to going to the International Court in The Hague.
Ortom , who was represented by his deputy, Benson Abounu, while receiving in audience youths under the auspices of Strict Movement Against Ravages in Tivland , SMART Land , said the promulgation of the law was solely for the benefit of the citizens who has lobbied for it.



He said the aim of the law was to protect lives and property of residents of Benue State , “irrespective of their religion and nationality ;” adding, “That is why we have Igbo, Yoruba and other communities in the group here today .”



“The law is to protect all classes of people of Benue State because the law makes provision against cattle rustling and destruction of crop farming.
“As from Wednesday , the law will take effect and there is no going back on it, even if it amounts to going to International Court in Hague.
