The population of Nigeria in 1979 when law was was enacted was 70 million. Presently, we are about 200 million people. by 2050 UN has projected we would be the 3rd most populated country in the word with a population of 398 million people. Also the land mass of the south is tiny compare to that of the north. Very soon the land in southern Nigeria would not be enough for its indigenes. We haven't even factor in climate change.

I do not go with the FG plan of giving Southern land to Herdsmen. The model won't work. Countries like Brazil, USA and Russia that allocate land for grazing, allocate land many times the size of the entire Nigeria. Russia for example allocate lands that is 14 times the size of Nigeria for grazing. The truth is the don't have the land for that model.

Herds men moving cows about is obsolete. We need to borrow the European and Indian model of keeping large amount of cows in a small piece of land. Owners of cows need to take responsibility of purchasing land and building facilities to take care of their cows just as poultry farmers build facilities for their birds.

You can't ask my village to donate large expanse of land to other people to be making money from it.

So when you arrest a man with herds for wandering,where do you keep the cattle while he is in court?if not the same reserves the Governors who for political reasons have refused to allocate,nobody ever said free,grazing is under the Land Use Act which is under the full jurisdiction of the State Governors and he sets the price of how much we pay for land,no more than 500 hectares for farming per person,unless for grazing purposes,it's his sole prerogative.

The problem with most Nigerians they haven't read the laws of the Federation of Nigeria and mostly talk from their ignorance. Grazing is a private business that by law is regulated by the various states not the Federal Government,agriculture is in the hands of the various States not the Federal Government or did any of the herdsmen register their cattle with the Corporate Affairs Commission?

if you multiply by number of days in a year 90,000 * 365 = 33 million cows.
