Renowned Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared a deeply personal moment that led her to seek therapy for the first time.

During a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the Battle on Buka Street star revealed how she was emotionally shattered by public ridicule over her marital status during her political campaign.

In 2023, Akindele contested for the role of Deputy Governor of Lagos State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While her candidacy drew widespread attention, it also opened her up to painful criticism.

“One particular video featured women mocking me for not having a husband while aspiring to hold political office,” she recalled. “That video broke me. I cried so much and finally admitted I needed professional help. Talking to a therapist made me feel better.”

Although Akindele had always recognized the importance of mental health support, she avoided therapy out of concern for public gossip and judgment.

“I knew therapy mattered, but I was afraid they would spread stories about me. So I kept pretending to be strong even as I faced constant attacks,” she said.

The actress, known for consistently delivering box office hits, urged anyone dealing with emotional challenges not to remain silent.

“Please, speak up. Don’t keep it all inside,” she advised.

Police Arrest Father for Alleged Murder of 27-Year-Old Daughter in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man named Kamoru Ojo, accused of killing his 27-year-old daughter and secretly burying her in a shallow grave within their home in the Afromedia area of Ojo, Lagos.

According to police sources, the incident happened on March 26, but it wasn’t reported to the Okokomaiko Police Division until April 3, 2025, around 8:00 a.m., after a distress call was received by the authorities, as shared with security analyst Zagazola Makama.

The victim, Shakirat Ojo, was reportedly beaten to death by her father at their residence located at No. 31 Oshinlemo Street, Afromedia, before he buried her in the compound.
