you can tell if an engine has been worked on by looking closely and inspecting several places that would look different from what the factory build would be. But you cannot tell if engine was ringed. And that is the topic of your thread

no way of finding out. Even with experienced eyes it is still not easy

Good day fellow nlader, I am about getting a car which happens to be a naija used car, but I heard a lot of sad stories that the engine might be ringed or gearbox might be dead.... How do I identify a ringed engine, if I run a scan will the problem show up?
