Phones › Re: Water-resistant Vs Waterproof – Do You Know The Difference? by Rictus1: 7:55pm On Jul 27, 2025 |
Khay2: Let’s talk about something that still confuses a lot of people—the difference between water-resistant and waterproof phones.
I’ve seen so many people treat their phones like they’re waterproof just because it says “IP68” or “IP69” on the spec sheet. But honestly, there’s a big difference.
Here’s a quick breakdown: 🔹 Water-resistant = Can handle light splashes, rain, or short accidental drops in water. 🔹 Waterproof = Can survive full submersion, but no phone is truly waterproof forever.
I recently came across the realme brand, particularly the realmeC75, and from what I’ve read, it has an IP69 rating, which is impressive, especially for a midrange phone. I haven’t used it personally, but I’ve seen people say it holds up well around water and dust. Still, I don’t think I’d be brave enough to test any phone in a swimming pool, even if it’s rated that high 😂
Sometimes brands advertise water protection, but people forget it’s more for accidental stuff—like rain, handwashing splashes, or sweaty pockets—not deep diving or recording underwater TikToks 😅
So I’m curious: 🔸 Have you ever mistakenly treated your phone like it was waterproof? 🔸 Do you check for IP ratings when buying a new device? 🔸 And if anyone here has actually used the realme C75, how water-resistant is it in real-life use?
Personally, I think water resistance is great for peace of mind, especially in a country like Nigeria where dust, rain, and “accidents” are a regular part of life.
Let’s clear up the confusion, what do YOU think the difference is between water-resistant and waterproof?
💡 I’ll also drop a short IP rating explanation in the comments for anyone who wants to understand the numbers better. but I came an ad that said it was tested for 30 days underwater. If any phone can pass an intense test don't you think it would be safe for diving and underwater Tiktoks? |

Honestly good phones in that price range are not much again because of the economic situation of the country. Except you want to go for already used phones(which is not a safe option cause you're not sure how the previous owners used it) From the responses a lot of people recommend realme and you should consider it. The brand has been doing well |

Phones › Re: Realme, Infinix, Tecno, Redmi: Which Budget Smartphone Brand Is Leading In 2025? by Rictus1: 7:19pm On Jul 27, 2025 |
Shawn29: The Nigerian smartphone market is filled with well-known budget and mid-range brands like Infinix, Tecno, Itel, and Redmi/Xiaomi. But in the past few years, realme has started making a name for itself in this same space.
With many Nigerians looking for phones that offer value without breaking the bank, it’s worth asking:
Which of these brands is truly delivering the best experience in 2025?
Here’s a quick look at how they compare based on general user feedback and trends:
🔹 Tecno & Infinix (Transsion)
Known for affordability, large batteries, and camera-focused marketing.
Software (HiOS/XOS) may lag behind others in terms of optimization.
Updates are rare, and performance tends to slow down over time.
🔹 Redmi/Xiaomi
Great value-for-money hardware.
MIUI is packed with features but may feel heavy or bloated to some users.
Software updates are more regular than Transsion brands.
Known to overheat on some entry-level models.
🔹 realme
Newer in the Nigerian market but well-established globally.
Clean and light UI (realme UI), good performance at competitive prices.
Regular updates and a growing lineup of mid-range and budget options.
Availability and servicing across most areas.
Other Points Worth Considering:
Build Quality: All brands now offer more premium finishes even in affordable models.
Charging & Battery: realme and Redmi are pushing fast charging, but Tecno and Infinix also deliver solid battery life.
Longevity: Xiaomi and realme tend to last longer performance-wise, especially with updates.
Each brand has its strengths, and choosing the right one often depends on your personal needs — whether it's price, camera, gaming, or long-term use.
However, looking at recent trends, realme appears to be quietly setting a new standard like the ip69 ratings, in the mid-range segment balancing clean software, solid performance, and competitive features. If they continue to improve their availability and after-sales support in Nigeria, they just might outpace the rest.
Still, the final decision rests with the user and everyone’s experience matters.
Let’s hear from you:
Which of these brands have you used recently?
Based on your personal experience, which one delivers the best value?
What matters more to you: specs on paper or long-term performance?
Let’s hear honest opinions from everyone, both fans and critics of each brand, and lets keep it objective. specs on paper is important. But long-term performance is also needed cause that tells if I got my money's Worth. realme's IP ratings alone gives me the confidence that I would. |

Phones › Navigating Through Different Functions In Your Realme C75x: part 1 by Rictus1(op): 9:03pm On Jul 20, 2025 |
Someone asked if it is possible to take clear pictures with the realme C75x in a dark or poorly lighted room. With the night mode feature it is and I will explain how to use it This mode is designed to significantly improve photos taken in low light conditions; 1. Open your camera app 2. Look for "night mode" or a moon shaped icon 3. Switched to night mode Note: ensure to keep your hands steady (preferably use a tripod) to get the best results and prevent blurry pictures.
Hope this helps!

Computers › Understanding Resolution Display And Image Quality by Rictus1(op): 8:43pm On Jul 20, 2025 |
Resolution display is the number of pixels (pixels are small colorful squares or dots that make up the images we see on a screen) that can be displayed on a screen. It is expressed in two numbers: width × height eg 2400 x 1080. When a device is said to have high resolution it simply means there are more pixels on the screen which leads to a sharper and clearer image and vice versa. This is one major difference between the realme C75x and C75. C75 has a higher display of 2400 x 1080 while the C75X is 1640 x 720 pixels. Hence the image quality of the realme C75 would be sharper with finer lines and smooth graphics.
