I have just defined what shari'a means to you in a simple term.

Law of Moses is called "shari'a of musa"(AS). Law of Jesus is called shari'a of Isa(AS).

Western law didn't come from nowhere but partially derived from Define attributes but they twisted, added and removed whatever they wanted.

So sharia of Islam is anything that conforms with God and humanity. Democratic system depends on how you define it. Democratic system in Islam is just as the same with whatever they have in their common laws.

Islam only makes exceptions with respect to whatever Divine law forbids or permits. For example, modern Western democratic system gives right have welfare system, Medicare, right to assembly and free speech and then right to be homosexual.

Shari'a of Islam agrees with everything except homosexual. You understand?. Islam didn't come to nullify good things that exist in every society. It only makes exceptions where forbidden things are allowed.

Speaking of democratic system, during Ottoman empire, Ottoman Islam was democratic for allowing Muslims, Christians and Jews to live together in the holy land. There is nothing more than democracy than that.

But today, the people who called themselves "beacon of democracy" did not allow freedom of worship to certain race, freedom to live on their own land. They only want Jewish supremacy etc. Islam forbid this.

I only try to give you a hint. There is a difference between democracy or democratic system by definition and by practical. So shari'a of Islam by definition is democratic naturally..
