I'll argue that many women who bleach their skin aren't doing so out of a need to look white but as a result of the social pressure they feel from people around them who make fun of their skin colour. The problem isn't the women bleaching their skin, rather it's the culture that regards anything black as unattractive. That's what needs changing. Do you know how many young girls in Nigeria and around the world are being mocked and bullied by their peers just because they have dark skin? Most of these girls have no choice but to bleach.

We really need a reorientation in this country. Black Africans have thrown their dignity at the feet of foreign obsession. We all know that as far as value goes, looks is an important criterion in women. If looks are important, and black women lack tremendously in that department, what value do they have then?
