The All Progressives Congress on Saturday conducted its House of Representatives primaries across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several prominent politicians securing tickets while protests and controversies trailed exercises in some states. Among those who emerged victorious were the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Yusuf Buhari won the APC primary for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State after polling 5,849 votes to defeat his closest rival, Auwal Daura, who secured just 21 votes. In Lagos State, Obasa emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for the Agege Federal Constituency. Speaking after the exercise, he thanked party members for their support and promised effective representation if elected. The APC also cleared top lawmakers including Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, who both secured tickets unopposed in Kaduna and Abia states respectively. However, the primaries were not without controversy as protests and violence erupted in parts of Kaduna and Adamawa states over allegations of manipulation and imposition of candidates. In Igabi Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, angry youths stormed the APC office after some party members alleged that no proper counting or accreditation took place before a winner was announced. Meanwhile, in Adamawa State, protesters blocked roads in some areas, claiming that results were announced despite no election taking place. The APC also disqualified 14 aspirants across several states, including serving lawmakers from Rivers and Ebonyi states. Political observers say the outcome of the primaries could shape major political battles ahead of the 2027 general elections. https://www.dobblog.online/2026/05/yusuf-buhari-obasa-win-apc-reps-tickets.html

In a landmark shift signaling Germany’s deeper military integration with NATO’s eastern defenses, Chancellor Friedrich Merz today announced the formal establishment of a permanent German military command hub in Lithuania a move that goes beyond previous rotational deployments and places Germany at the strategic forefront of NATO’s Baltic deterrence. The new brigade, to be stationed near Kaunas, will consist of 4,800 personnel, supported by an advanced logistics corps and a drone surveillance unit. In what defense officials described as “the largest German overseas military presence since the end of the Cold War,” the brigade will operate under NATO’s Forward Defense Doctrine, aimed at immediate response readiness within minutes of a threat. According to sources within the Bundeswehr, the base will house a mobile command center directly linked to NATO’s European command in Belgium, as well as launchpads for rapid-deployment armored units. Germany will also provide an integrated missile defense system in coordination with U.S. and Polish forces. Read full news: https://www./2025/05/germany-establishes-permanent-military.html

Nigerian comedian DeeOne has stirred fresh controversy online after commenting on the recent arrest of popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan. In a bold statement shared via his Instagram story, DeeOne claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) would not arrest anyone unless they had a case to answer. His post reads: “The EFCC wouldn’t arrest VeryDarkMan if he hasn’t committed any crimes. They are not mad. Think am.” The remark has sparked backlash on social media, with many Nigerians accusing the comedian of being insensitive and biased, especially given the history of controversial arrests by the agency. Supporters of VeryDarkMan argue that the outspoken influencer is often targeted for speaking truth to power and exposing societal ills. VeryDarkMan, known for his blunt takes and viral videos calling out fraud, abuse, and corruption, was reportedly picked up by EFCC officials earlier this week. Details surrounding the arrest remain unclear, and the agency has yet to release an official statement. This is not the first time DeeOne has drawn criticism for his public statements. The comedian, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, is often known for his controversial takes on trending issues. As Nigerians continue to demand transparency from the EFCC and justice for VeryDarkMan if wrongfully detained, DeeOne’s comments have only added fuel to the fire, leaving many questioning the comedian’s motives and understanding of due process. There’s no doubt that Davido, also known as OBO, brought a different kind of energy to the Nigerian and African music scene. Since the moment he broke into the spotlight, the entire structure and mindset around the music industry has shifted from struggle to success, from selfishness to support. Back in the early 2000s, the Nigerian hip-hop and afrobeats industry was still trying to find its place. Artists worked hard, but the money wasn’t flowing, and the opportunities were tight. If you weren’t in a label, it was almost impossible to blow. And even when you got signed, the competition was still filled with envy and ego. Then Davido came in and everything changed. From the moment he dropped “Back When” and later stamped his identity with the hit “OBO,” he didn’t just claim his title as a superstar he earned it. Not only by his sound or performance, but by how he carried everyone around him. Davido didn’t gatekeep success. He believed that being at the top means nothing if you don’t lift others. In his own words, life is short, you can’t live forever, and helping others grow is what keeps the legacy alive. Unlike many others, Davido didn’t wait to start a label before supporting young talents. He put them on publicly, financially, and emotionally. Whether it was giving them cash, collaborations, or just the spotlight, he changed their lives without asking for ownership. Artists like Mayorkun, Peruzzi, Dremo, and many more owe their platforms to the impact Davido made. And even beyond DMW, he’s helped countless other acts in the industry rise up without asking them to sign dotted lines. In a time where diss tracks and beef ruled the game, Davido brought love, loyalty, and brotherhood. Now, upcoming artists drop hits without begging gatekeepers. And the industry, once starving for growth, is now booming across Africa thanks to pioneers who believed in helping others. If Davido hadn’t entered the game, would the industry still be stuck in the old system? Would new talents still be begging for a chance? Today’s sound, success, and spirit in Nigerian music owes a lot to Davido’s example. He proved that being OBO isn’t about just using your mouth (UMDH Use Mouth Do Ham) Read Full News On DOBBLOG:
