yesah...but one has to use initiative to decode the questions...the loss % was what we where asked to find.
x% of the initial price is the loss.

initial cost price=#500,000
%loss=x%
that means; the amount lost was 5000X (X/100 of 500,000)
selling price=#500,000-5000x =5000(100-x)
so mr Bello aka Godwin, after buying it, sold it thereby gaining a profit of 40%
and 40% of the selling price =#10,000
i.e. 40/100 x 5000(100-X)=10000
zeros taking out each other, =2000(100-X)=10000
100-X=10000/2000
x=100-5
x=95!
