Sunmboluv:

It's really horrible,Those officials are bunch of thieves.I experienced it while traveling down to Canada last year, the man told me point-blank that it's either I part with some cash or he will delay me till I miss my flight.Meanwhile, have been advised earlier by one of the officials that checked my luggage(when I gave him some cash willingly cos he neva asked for it) in the airport that I should move in to board quickly cos bin a first time traveler I would be delayed if I refuse to part with cash but if I have more than enough time at hand before my flight,I can choose to remain stubborn cos with time they would run out of patience.Well,it all happened accordingly to the airport official's forecast,I told him I had no Naira on me and am not ready to part with dollars, that was when he started his delay tactics by telling me to go and c different officials within the same vicinity and they were all asking silly questions. He went as far as telling me he wants to see my admission letter(what has an immigration official got to do wt some1"s admission letter??) which I gladly showed him,In the end when he and his other colleagues realised I won't bulge to their request, they had to let me go.I later learnt that was the status quo for dose officials.A friend of mine that left for the USA as a student(first time traveller) told me the same thing happened to him last year at the same muritala Muhammed Airport, that he had to part with some cash before they allowed him passage.Seems the menace of corruption is an individual tin, If each individual chooses to do tins the right way I am sure we will have a better Nigeria. There is very little any president can do to that, corruption has eaten deep into the system.God help us all and our dear nation,Nigeria.
There is something the president can do.Because of the sincerity of Jerry Rawlings, Ghana today is a changed society. The issue is that nobody is ever made a scape goat.Until Obasanjo came,no public official was ever arrested or jailed since Shagari regime in 1979.So 1979 till 1999 corruption was the order of the day and this was carried out with impunity. There is still corruption and largely too but at least it is not carried out with impunity on a large scale like before.Efcc at least are there, even if they are not too effective. For instance i learnt that no body, not even soldiers have been brave enough to flout the BRT lane rule after that soldier was dealth with and dismissed. If one immigration officer is made a scape goat, i can tell you that will just be enough to deal and stamp out this menace. It is simple, somebody should be made to take responsibility for corruption at any level, until that happens we are in deep trouble.

Can we all go to the presidents facebook page and report this and all criminal activities going on.The things happening at the passport office and at the Exit points of our Airports.
Nairaland is about the best thing that has happened to Nigeria.Trust me and that is why i detest people that use this site as a place to behave mischievously.Names like 190 amd MMA.I am just sorry to mention some names but that is the truth.A revolution must start from here.I hereby advice ask that Segun should create a section for anti-corruption.Anyone that travels next time should note the name tags on such officers and report on this section.WE must stop this nonsense at one and let us see if Mr president will tackle this problem all at once.

Kudos to the Governor,i am aware he build the beautiful edifice housing this home too.

However, we have many motherless baby homes all around Lagos begging for attention while we have some others that receive more than adequate attention.I know what I am saying oohhh. Some motherless baby homes need some drastic attention since some of these babies are actually starving. It is well ooohh.

Which rules my wife? Be like say you never enter naija before, follow wetin for this country? You no know anything
Look i have never bribed in Nigeria before and I LIVE IN LAGOS.I experience this situation all the time, particularly with a virgin passport(after you must have renewed).Same thing happens at the seme border and at all other International Airport exit points namely Kano,Port',Abuja and so on.It will also shock some people that you need pay at least 4,000 to Immigration people before you passport is renewed at the passport office. Most people do not know this fact because they engage touts to help process their passports. This system is conducive to them because it helps the corruption infested Nigerian society. However, i have never paid all these. To change things,we cannot allow things like these to continue. We travel and see good things happening overseas, and we behave as if Nigerian is immune to changes.Just like somebody said, if you are clean and you are ready not to break any rules why must you pay those idiots. The best is that they will delay you,you can never miss your flight, all what they do is try to intimidate you that's all.If you know your right they will let you go.
Please let us change this society for the better. Those who are saying nothing can be done to what these idiots are doing should be ashamed of themselves.
