PropertiesRe: Nigerians Could Be Safer With A Panic Room Installed In Their Homes: by rukatech: 4:27pm On Feb 26, 2010
@ newvision,

I do not know the extent folks are implementing it in Nigeria, but the idea already exists in naija. In fact, it was my architect in naija who suggested including it in my building. The house has not yet been completed - https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-397598.0.html . It is locally done. It is nothing but a stronger concrete reinforcement than any other room in the building. Security door to the room must be included. It is best to hide the door itself somehow. When you occupy the house, you store emergency stuff such as extra phone with back up batteries, important contacts phone numbers, flashlights, etc. I saw what appeared to be a panic room when CNN aired a tour of Michael Jackson's mansion last year. It should not be for "Big men" only. Whoever can afford a building, can think about that too.

@Poster,

Good advise. That's why I included it in the house I'm building in naija.
The location of such room should not appear in the arch. drawing, you know why.

@bamidele,
if you are realy seriousabout the job,
let us meet one on one  any were then were with the designor send the full
set of design and we shall disuss. but remember that owerry would gone with raft foundation,
just say your mind i.e how much u plan to spend on labour and materials and the finishing.
@bamidele,

Please stop qualifying your comments with "if you are realy seriousabout". It took me time and effort to get and present the details of the building here. I presented these requirements, including measurements (which you do not see often in NL), so that  suppliers and contractors will know exactly what I want. I will meet with the potential supplier/contractor when I think there is a possibility of him/her meeting my requirements.

Here are more information:
One can supply only the material OR material and labor - your choice.

The building is already near the roofing stage.
I want to know the cost for the roofing (material/lablor).
It needs plastering - at least starting from the ground floor.
It needs windows and doors - see details in the original posting.
It needs floor work - see details in the original posting.
The fencing has already been completed; I need to know the cost of installing a quality iron gate (material and labor)

Thanks

@naijacann,
@ajileko
You're absolutely dead on and correct on your 1.4m naira quote.
I just fenced my 2 plots ( 100 by 100 dimension) in owerri and it cost
me about 1.5million, including the 250k my builder charged me. It was
9 couches after DPC. My gate cost me around 50k and i so love its greenish to black
I need a gate for the house I'm building at Owerri, see https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-397598.0.html. Please give me the contact information of the company that sold one to you. If possible, send the picture(s) of the available gates as well. Email ruapps at hotmail.com . Thanks.

@ode remo,

nice design . can u pls for God sake take away that glass surround in the top balcony, to me it does not do justice to that  detail you have there.
What do you recommend to replace the glass?  Risk of fall if left open. May be rail?

This is for 2 flats of 3 bedrooms duplex with pent house and car garage attached. The building
is at Owerri. I need qualified contractors and material suppliers to give me cost estimates in
the areas indicated below. I will not compromise on the quality. Whether or not you are a
contractor, your estimates for labor and/or material will be greatly appreciated. The sizes
stated here are taken from the design drawing. Thanks for your input. Email: ruapps at hotmail.com.
