Contraceptives contribute to most African women excessive fatness after marriage. But many are unaware of the plenty negative issues that goes along with contraceptives. Also, unhealthy diets play a role and lack of exercises.

Personally, I made my wife understand the issues with obesity / fat. The risk factors to avoid as well. I also didn't bother to go near fat girls or anyone I thought to have such recessive genes

Federal govt sells crude to local refineries in dollars and also collects dollars as port charges from ports where petrol is loaded. Dangote gets 45% of crude from Nigeria and imports the rest but pays in dollars. Local marketers want to pay naira but dangote needs dollars to pay government for crude bought from nigeria govt. Whenever the govt let's him pay in naira, he sells to the local marketers in naira and lets them pay in naira. Whenever tinubu govt insists he buys crude from the government and pay in dollars, dangote equally insists local marketers must pay him in dollars for refined products.

Nigeria has corrupt leaders and require business strong head for a business man to survive the nigerian climate. Nigerian companies prefer selling crudes abroad to get dollars than to sell to dangote or other local refineries that would prefer to pay in naira. If you are not sick, you will want to stick with international practice in leadership of hospital departments and entire hospitals as it applies in the developed world since you insist on an unreasonable and dehumanising pay disparity as your idea of western practice. When it comes to head of hospital and minister of health, it is not the exclusive reserve of doctors in the US or Canada. When it comes to appointment of minister of health, even a biologist has held such positions there. But as a greedy Nigerian doctor you don't want such in Nigeria. But when we talk about salary you want to quickly use UK as example. Do you think the consultants abroad are irresponsible like the ones in Nigeria or do you think they only show up during their one or twice weekly consulting days? If you think you will get such liberty to earn free money abroad like you get in Nigeria, then travel out and your eyes will clear. Stop being unreasonable and greedy. Do you know the heavy penalty and fines that befall you abroad if you dare make a mistake. These are the factors that decide their pay because a doctor abroad can literally pay millions of dollars in penalty for a careless operation gone wrong. In Nigeria, many of you are death merchants and irresponsible because no one holds Nigerian consultants accountable. And you want to earn like your far more responsible colleagues overseas? Not possible. You must first have internal discipline within NMA with ability to report mistakes instead of covering up and the ability to withdraw licenses of doctors. Your practicing environment and laws here is far below international standards and lacks transparency and accountability especially towards what happens to patients in the operating room. How many public hospitals keep CCTV records of what happens in the operating room for the essence of scrutiny? How many consultants work Monday to Friday? Only 4 days a month and you want to earn what? The govt is weak. If I am a politician today, the first sector to deal with is the hospitals especially doctors. I don't mind privatizing everything or making new laws to sack consultants who are not found at their post and make them pay dearly for their mistakes in the operating room. This will bring some sanity to you guys and break this your arrogance and emptiness. Abroad salary is hourly pay. That huge salary of consultants in Nigeria if you break it into hourly pay and track them many will not qualify to receive 10% of it. Even the call duty allowance, which means you work 8am to 2pm rest for 2 hours then come back by 4 and work till day break. Consultants are heavily paid for that, but consultants in federal hospitals don't do that. They delegate the work to their trainees while they stay in their own private hospitals

Another issue, doctors heading drug revolving fund? What's the business of doctors with drug. Doctors head lab in thesame hospital i mentioned above. They head the radiology. Go to FMC Asaba, there has been prolonged rivalry with doctors attempting take over of lab. Ask those who work there. I have seen doctors choking even the IT department trying to head EMR. Why? Because money dey those areas. The problem of doctors is incurable greed. Anatomy are useless today because of the activities of doctors. The strategy is to takeover and control every money spinning activity in the hospital without recourse to professionalism

doctors were threatening govt as at that time that they must not do anything for non doctors without adding to doctors salary. And they came up with a formula of 1:1.7. ARD and NMA are not registered trade unions but mere professional associations. They have had their allowancea upgraded since 2015 without the other unions threatening to go on strike to stop theirs. But each time other union ask for something they truncate it. The advantage they have is that 80% of the head of departments in the hospitals - even head of pharmacy, lab, radiology are medical doctors. That is the level of the oppression going on. The ministry of health always has minister, permanent secretary, and head of departments who are strictly doctors. Also , the board of hospital is compromised of 75% doctors. There is no way nurses can have a bargain with govt without them prying into the content since they control the ministry 100%

Doctors ordered the govt to stop allowing pharmacists and other health professionals to become consultants in their respective fields and govt obeyed them for fear of strike threat. However, pharmacists, nurses, lab scientist do have become consultants in their own fields in the developed world

Doctors threatened the govt to withdraw a recent improved call allowance approved for other clinical professionals like pharmacy and radiology, the govt withdraw it for fear of the doctors

Doctors opposed increment of salary for nurses, pharmacist, radiology, etc in 2015, 2018 and 2023 by threatening counter strike if govt dare add N1 to their salaries

Entry level medical doctor salary = N400,000
Within 5 years they become consultants and earn at least N500,000. As consultants they only come to work once a week, work between 8am and 2pm and they go back to their private hospital practice. Someone who works 4;days a month will now earn between N500,000 monthly to N1.3m monthly (for senior consultants)

A nurse, pharmacy, lab scientist earns N160,000 at entry point. They will work 16 years before their take home can get to N350,000 which is far less than doctors starting point. They will commit not less than 8 hours daily to the job unlike doctors with just 5 years experience. After 30 years of experience before most non doctors can earn up to N400,000 monthly

Doctors have currently gotten approval from govt for a pool of fund to be made available only for doctors (excluding other hospital workers) who are sick to be flown abroad for treatment at govt expense.

An engineer or a non clinical staff who gets employed in a hospital setting earns N130,000 at the start and can never earn above N400,000 after 35 years of working because of the huge disparities in pay. Doctors fight everyday to wide this disparity by threatening counter strike whenever govt gives audience to the others

The MRTEF these doctors are going on strike for is not salary. Govt doesn't owe them salary. ARD are doctors in training who want to become consultants. MRTEF is school fees, exam fees for the Training, govt also pays them salaries. In some developed nations, if you want to be a consultant, you are responsible for your own training. I work in the hospital. It wasn't built by tinubu. It was built 5 years ago by buhari. I have worked there for a year now. Una forget say tinubu na propaganda chief. He asked for repainting and launch of the hospital just to take the credit and we were given 2 weeks off from work for the repainting
