Education › Re: Why Living In Hostel Is Best For Female Students In Nigerian Universities by RushTown(m): 11:56pm On Feb 26, 2019 |
PerseDew: I stayed in the hostel as a fresher and it was definitely not the case. Electricity was only sure from 7pm till 10 or 12pm. This depends on if the school generator has been repaired or not and if there was diesel. We certainly did not have good facilities, the rooms were planned yes, but were overcrowded. There were ladies that were sleeping outside constantly (freshers included) because of runs or just to camp in their boy friend's place only to be seen when they wanted to collect something from their room and go back to base.
There was nothing like quick response from the school management instead sometimes SUG officials or those ones contesting for a post fixed some minor things. As for spirituality, if you mean just going to church every sunday, then you are correct but going to church every sunday or every other day plus sunday does not mean the person is spiritual. About the reading culture that is most likely true. I also noticed the girls that lodged in their boyfriends place came back just because of the reading environment and went back after. But the reading environment also means nothing to me because although I was influenced by the environment it doesn't mean my grades were better. My grades improved greatly in my third till fifth semester (off camp) after a friend thought me how to read effectively. The only thing I liked about the hostel then were my roommates in my first year, majority of them were cool.
Finally, you are right most men tend to want to settle with ladies that stayed in the hostel and they also prefer to hear a girl is still in the university because it makes her appear somewhat younger. All I will say is they should continue.
