The Director General of the National Youth Service Corp, Brig. General Shuaibu Ibrahim has directed that artificial limbs be provided to Nuruddeen Tahir who lost his hand in an auto crash. The corper who is an indigene of Kano state had one hand before coming to the NYSC orientation camp in Jalingo but lost the second hand in an accident shortly after passing out from the camp.

Nuruddeen along with 18 other corps members was on July 8 involved in an accident on their way to Gembu town, the headquarters of Sardauna local government area where they were posted for their national service.

In a statement in Jalingo, the NYSC coordinator in the state, Mrs Florence Yaakugh said the attention of the NYSC in the state was drawn to the appeal made by some persons on social media for money to treat Nuruddeen. She said apart from the directives by the DG to provide artificial limbs for Nuruddeen, the Taraba state Governor Darius Ishaku had taken care of the bill for the treatment of all the corps members involved in the unfortunate incident including Nuruddeen.

The NYSC state coordinator, alerted the public that nothing was required to foot the bill for the victims as that has been taken care of. She said the appeal for assistance was by fraudsters who wanted to cash on the incident to extort money from innocent Nigerians.

“Tahir is presently stable after spending over two months on admission at Dala Orthopaedic Hospital in Kano, and the NYSC had settled all his medical bills and had since been posted to teach in a secondary school in his hometown,”

“After he managed to complete his primary education, he had the zeal and determination to continue with his education up to degree level where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies from Yusuf Maitama-Sule University, Kano.

“In order to give this patriotic young man hope of life, the DG made adequate arrangements to replace the two limbs with artificial ones worth N26 million in order to give him relief and succour.”
he said.

SportsWilfred Ndidi Is Nigeria’s Highest Paid Player In Europe by ruththeprincess(op): 9:29am On Nov 22, 2019
Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi is the highest-paid Super Eagles player in Europe this season, Sports Extra reports.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Foxes from Genk for £17m in 2016, earns £3.9m per annum, (approximately £75,000 a week) according to a study by Spotrac.

Ndidi, barring any last-minute hitch, will play his 100th game for Leicester City in Saturday’s clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at the King Power Stadium.

He is also the fifth highest earner at Leicester behind Jamie Vardy (£7.28m), Kasper Schmeichel (£6.76m), Johnny Evans (£4.16m) and Adrien Silva (£4.16m).

In second place is Kelechi Iheanacho who earns £60,000 per week (£3.12m). Iheanacho has found regular time hard to come by at Leicester, fueling speculations he may be sent out on loan when the January transfer window reopens.

Alex Iwobi who joined Everton from Arsenal last summer for £40m, pockets £50,000 per week, (£2.6m) making him the third-highest Eagles earner.

Completing the top five are Trabzonspor’s Anthony Nwakaeme and Watford’s Isaac Success. Both earn £32,000 and £30,000 respectively weekly.

In sixth place is former Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, who earns £30,000 per week while the pair of Torino’s Ola Aina and Kenneth Omeruo take home £20,000 weekly each.

William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun complete the top 10 list with weekly earnings of £19,500 and £18,269 respectively.

The crisis between the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji and his High Chiefs was put to rest on Tuesday when Oyo State government withdrew the crowns of the High Chiefs as part of the condition to settle out of court.

Recall that the Olubadan and some of his High Chiefs, among whom are the Otun Olubadan, Senator Lekan Balogun, Balogun of Ibadan land, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin and others who are also members of the Olubadan-In-Council, had in the last two years been running a mouse and cat relationship.

The crisis reached its peak in August 2017 when the immediate past Governor, Mr. Abiola Ajimobi presented staff of offices to some High Chiefs and Baales numbering twenty one (21) who have been promoted to the status of Kings.

Eminent personalities, indigenes of Ibadan, clubs and societies in the ancient city including former President Olusegun Obasanjo had since then been appealing to the two camps to sheath their swords.

The crisis was, however, put to rest on Tuesday when Ajimobi’s successor, Mr. Seyi Makinde withdrew the crowns of the new promoted Kings as part of the condition to settle out of court.

It was gathered that the Court of Appeal in Ibadan had on August 23 this year referred parties in the controversial coronation of 21 kings by Ajimobi to a lower court.

Makinde, who inherited the matter, had opted for an out-of-court settlement to restore peace between the Olubadan and his estranged chiefs.

The appellate court ordered that the case be returned for trial before another judge of the state High Court.

But, the parties reached agreement on Tuesday when the state High Court in a suit number M/317/2017 filed by High Chief Rashidi Ladoja pronounced that the parties in the suit have met and agreed.

The judgement read by Justice A. Aderemi reads; “That all the gazettes affecting the chieftaincy laws of Ibadan land particularly gazette Nos 14 vol. 42 of 23rd August 2017;15 Vol 42of 24 August 2017 and 3vol 43 of 29th March 2018 and the subsequent elevation of High Chiefs and Baale in Ibadan land as Obas during the pendency of this suit be and are hereby set aside.

“That the right to wear beaded crown and coronet granted by the state government during the pendency of the suit, are hereby revoked.

“That the 1st defendant shall take steps to reconcile all parties involved in the chieftaincy matters to foster unity and harmony in the protection of the tradition of Ibadan land as relates to the chieftaincy laws of Ibadan land”.

The Zamfara State Police Command, on Monday confirmed that 14 persons and 10 others were injured by bandits in Karaye village of Gummi Local Government Area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the attack is the first major breach of the peace agreement between the state government and the bandits initiated by Gov. Bello Matawalle.

A statement issued to newsmen in Gusau by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu, said the attack occurred on Sunday.

According to him, a total of 14 persons were killed, 10 others sustained gun shot injuries while some houses were set ablaze.

Shehu recalled that on Nov. 3, some members of local vigilantes, known as “Yan sakai in Bardoki village, attacked and killed nine Fulanis under the suspicion that they were bandits. He said on receiving the report, the command arrested 11 members of the vigilantes suspected of actively participating in the killing of the fulanis. The command’s spokesman said Sunday’s attack might have been a reprisal of the Nov. 3 incident.

“The incident is being investigated by the State CID Gusau and all the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution in order to serve as deterrent to others. “However, combined teams attached to Operation Puff Adder, men of Operation Hadarin-Daji and vigilantes led by the DPO Gummi mobilised to the scene and embarked on extensive bush combing with a view to trailing and arresting the perpetrators.

“Corpses and injured victims were conveyed to the General Hospital Gummi for autopsy and treatment,” he explained. He added that discreet investigation into the incident was ongoing and whoever was involved will be prosecuted.

“The command calls on members of the public to desist from taking laws into their hands as it will not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or group of person that tries to sabotage the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the state,” he said.

According to PM News, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, has arrested two blood brothers for extorting internet fraudsters with promises to shield them from arrest by the Commission.

The siblings – Olatunji Joe Beyioku, 35, and Oluwayomi Beyioku, 37, were arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday, November 15, 2019, during a sting operation.

EFCC operatives had embarked on discreet investigations into the activities of the suspects when it was discovered that they are in the habit of the extorting ‘Yahoo Boys’ to help them evade arrest by the EFCC.

According to EFCC Statement, the suspects claimed to be spy police officers with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and have ‘assisted’ the Commission with information on the whereabouts of internet fraudsters within the town, but it was discovered that they only expose those who failed to meet their demand, while others willing and ready to play ball are shielded.

It was also discovered that they have made several million of naira sabotaging the Commission’s efforts and live large therefrom.

A search conducted on the younger brother’s palatial residence along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway suggested that they may be living far above their means. Items found in the multi-million naira building also raised suspicion of the brothers’ possible involvement in other forms of criminal activities.

Items recovered from them include two cars, Honda Accord Crosstour and a Mercedes Benz GLK, different brands of mobile phones and charms.
