In what could have easily ended in tragedy, a student from Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Enugu State, has shared a harrowing experience after the ground floor of her private lodge sank into the soil, leaving several students displaced and their belongings buried, A2B Media reports.

The incident, which occurred in a privately owned 3-storey building with five separate blocks, is now making rounds on TikTok with over 1.5 million views, thanks to a video shared by the survivor, Ojiego Chimamanda Kimberly (TikTok: @Kimchi_). Her calm yet detailed narration has drawn massive attention, sparking conversations around building safety and infrastructure in student areas.

“Nothing prepares you for moments like these,” she wrote in her caption.
“I woke up in the morning and the tiles in my room were swelling, the doors couldn't even open, and we were hearing cracking sounds coming from outside.
Someone from upstairs ran out shouting the building was about to collapse.
We got outside and saw that the pillars were breaking, the walls were cracking, and the tiles had shattered.”

According to Kimberly, the entire ground floor sank about 6 feet deep, completely burying her room and at least three others. She confirmed to A2satsBlog Media that no lives were lost, and everyone managed to evacuate just in time; though most of them had no chance to pick up valuables like phones, laptops, and school documents.

The management of the University of Ilorin has finally released a statement regarding the health status of the affected students who were involved in the lone Korope accident that occurred at their main campus premises in the early hours of today, A2B Media reports.
