The ibo language was borrowed from ikwerre, ika, Ogba and other related languages.

Igbo is a very ancient tribe that has been in existence for years. What was recent is Christianity in 1857.

Ofcourse the ancestors of the igbos are ancient. The difference is that they were not in this present location in Nigeria.

Igbo as a tribe in Nigeria is a very recent thing. Most of the people called igbo today were not known by that name till the missionaries came and grouped them together and taught them ibo language.

Igodomigodo was a smaller kingdom and was only in present day Benin city. Igodomigodo didn't even cover the whole of Edo state today so, igbos were never part of it.

It was the Benin Empire that stretched to Onitsha and this is evident in the Royal symbol(Ada and Eben) of Obi of Onitsha.

Ajayi Crowther took part of Igala, Ika, and Ikwerre languages and taught the people (slaves) that were in Igbo land.

Check the igbo traditional dressing too...its even a more recent thing, from the red cap/winter cap to the Akpoche, there were all borrowed.


This is the reason the Onitsha Monarchy will always stand by its Benin Origin because they know the rest igbos are descendants of slaves.

How is emuoha man related to elele, isiokpo, or igwuruta man?
All of the present ikwerre clans migrated from ndoki, arochukwu, ngwa, ogba, ekpeye and owerri clans. People of Aluu, igwuruta, isiokpo, elele, emuoha, rebisi, and obio/akpor all migrated from different igbo and igba/ekpeye clans.

He forgot that just a few decades ago, igbos were still very naked when British was administering Nigeria.

Names having "kp" are very much rooted in Edo.

For example Ikpomwosa, Sakponba. Even Urhobo have them too e.g Sammie Okposo.

Ika, Ikwerre, Ogba and the rest do not speak igbo.

They speak their own distinct language. That there are similarities in language is normal everywhere in the world. Even within the igbo group, they dont understand themselves e.g there are groups in Enonyi state whose language is not understand by other igbos.

Another fact is that, ika, Ikwerre and other south south nationalities are older than igbo.
These groups have a well defined history and how their progenitor migrated from Benin. Same cannot be said about igbos who till this day cannot tell the world where they came from.
