COMRADES, I am creating this post in response to a thread created yesterday by a fellow Nairalander that; when he's married his living condition will be better! That he is tired of living in abject poverty! (I'll be very happy if the mods can attach that link to this post)

I went to see a friend today, unfortunately, when I called her, she told me that she was not around, then I decided to stroll back home; on my way home, lo and behold! This is what I saw! A family of four: 'papa, mama, senior pikin, and junior pikin' carrying dirty sack bags on their heads, immediately, my curiosity was aroused! Then I said let me trail these guys and see what they were carrying, and where they were going! After trailing them for a long distance/ journey, then I discovered that they were scavengers! In awe, and disbelief, I'd exclaimed and asked myself!...a whole family scavenging in order to survive?

FIRST PHOTO; is the last kid, age between 9-10 years old

SECOND PHOTO; is the first son age between 11-12 years old, he was the first to arrive at the selling point, you can see that he is sorting the garbage/ market

THIRD PICTURE; their father walking barefooted, when you look at the photo of the father, you'll see that from afar there is a little school boy also staring at the father and the last child, a mild drama was played out at that moment, the mother of the little boy and his sisters had already boarded an autorigshow (keke) but the little boy has refused to follow them in, he stood outside staring at the scavengers...only God knows what was in the mind of that child

LAST PHOTO; when we all arrived at the selling point, then I looked at the other direction, there, I saw their mother coming to join them; I tried to know about the transaction, then the buyer (a Hausa guy) approached me (because I looked suspicious) and asked me, 'hope it is OK', I replied him in Hausa, 'yes it is'...I lost my way, then I left them there!

My advice to every single person/bachelor out there is that; things are not longer getting better in this country, always get yourself prepared before getting a woman pregnant or
married, don't allow anyone to push you into unprepared marriage and thereafter remained unarranged and scattered for the rest of your life!

Firstly, she gave an impression of a Christian and I feel as a Christian there should be a level of reservation! I don't think it's really wise for her to jump on all contents! I've been to a mortuary twice in my entire life. The first time was many years ago, during my service year in Ondo. I had gotten a lift from a doctor friend and on the way home, he wanted to stop by his clinic to quickly do some things. We had to pass through the mortuary side of the clinic to get to his office (or maybe his business was at the mortuary office itself. I forget now. It is such a long time ago).

I remember staring at what looked like a statue, on a podium, in the middle of the compound. The 'statue' was 'painted' very dark, almost black, wore black sunshades, and was wearing a white lab coat. It was positioned to face east.

I turned and asked my companion "who is the statue representing?" I am a curious person and always want to know the history behind statues and artifacts.

He looked at me askance, chuckled and replied "that is not a statue. That's a dead body."

Omo, I was shocked to my bone marrows. Shocked and horrified.

He went further to explain that old unclaimed corpses with no form of identification are sometimes displayed in this manner with the hope that someone who knows them might just happen to pass by (how anyone will be casually "passing by" a mortuary beats my imagination). When decomposition can no longer be slowed down because of its exposure to the elements, they bring down the corpse and replace it with another unclaimed, unidentified body.

Doc invited me to come in to the mortuary for sightseeing. I vehemently refused this morbid invitation and was so glad when, an hour later, he finished up and dropped me at my house. I was traumatized for days and had to call my parents to report myself. My mum was unhappy with me and said I should never ever step my two legs in such an environment again. I am just not ready for that side of reality, and I never will be, even though it is an inescapable destination for all humans.

The second time was about 8 years ago, if my memory serves me right. I went with two Nairaland representatives of the The E-Helpers Network (TEHN), r231 and Mynd44 to Idi Araba hospital mortuary. The body of a nairalander who died from cancer, DJDOLA was going to be handed over to his family for burial. DJ was going to be interred that same day because he was a Muslim, and since TEHN had been raising money for his treatment, they were going to sort out the payments and other modalities with his family members.

Richard and Mynd went in, and I opted to remain outside. My mother has warned me about any mortuary waka, after all. Besides I just don't have the heart, and I never will.

While I waited, a sharp waft of rottenness drifted to my nose where I sat a little distance away from the entrance. This smell represented the deconstruction of the human being, the odoriferous evidence of crumbling shells that were once animated living things.

Mynd later told me that I was imagining things because the corpses are well preserved, but I know I wasn't imagining that... stench. You can imagine once, but not twice, and that smell came to me twice in 10 minutes intervals. r231 also insisted that there was no such smell, but he is wrong. They are both wrong.

Beneath the antiseptic funk of the mortuary lay the pungent truth that I am not ready for, and will never be ready for.

Hello everyone
I got a job in a private school some months back.
The salary was 22,500monthly .
When I resumed the principal told me that they don't pay salary by hand that we have to open either unity bank or UBA..
I don't have any of the account so I had to look for the way to open unity bank account.
To be honest, whenever month end for her to pay salary , she will give excuse that the school is having issue with bank and will tell us to get
₦5000 IOU from the school treasurer.

Him and all other aspirants went through thorough screening by the governing council that elected him. If he didn't meet the criteria, they would have found out and disqualify him.

The same governing council has come out to say that they did their job very well.

The problem is not Odoh, it's the domineering spirit of anambra people, once a VC is not from anambra,they will fight him , this same scenario played out when Prof Ahaneku was appointed VC of Unizik, he was heavily resisted and fought against for almost half of his tenure simply because the man isn't from anambra but the man was too strong for them to remove.
Can this people who are fighting Prof Bernard Odoh, claiming he didn't meet the criteria for that appointment tell us what was Ahaneku's offense that they fought and frustrated him for almost half of his tenure, was he not qualified too?

I graduated from Unizik and still know what goes on there to some extent. The process of selecting this VC didn't start today, it's been on for months. Are you telling me that a process that took months didn't make their findings about the aspirants and disqualify who isn't fit?

The same anambriams complaining, their son is the current VC of UNN and no body is making noise about it,
same with Futo, an Afikpo woman,in Ebonyi state,Prof Nnenna Otti ( The woman who stood against Ikpeazu's rigging and declared Alex Otti winner even with her life being threatened) is the VC and Imo people never complained.

These are federal universities, anybody from anywhere,as far as you are qualified can be VC there. Anambra should take their biased mindset to that their glorified secondary school Called ANSU or COOUA or whatever it's called and dictate who should be VC there, not my Unizik.

So the call for his removal is because he's from Ebonyi?

Your problem is that you don't have the information as to what is going on in the university and you are not willing to open your mind to learn the truth.. you just assume that it is as a result of the place of origin which it is not.

I am a medical student at the university and we've been on strike for over 5weeks as a result of controversies surrounding the announcement for the position of the VC. The senate has sent a letter to the prochancellor and the university ASUU too even weeks before the said selection of this man as vice chancellor to voice their frustrations with the handling of the matter. This shows you that it is not about the person that emerged but the process that was taken in other to arrive at this.

6.) Migrant Influx. Many White Americans are tired of migrants trooping into their country. They believe if this is not checked, America will lose its glory in no distant time so they want a President that can be bold enough to stop or slow down migration to a great extent.

In stillness, hearts find their refrain, A gentle pause from life's refrain. In quietude, the soul finds grace, A silent haven, a sacred space.

In the quiet of the night, Where shadows whisper, soft and slight, A heart beats slow, a soul adrift, In solitude, the mind does sift.

Through memories of days gone by, And dreams that faded with a sigh, Loneliness, a silent friend, A journey with no clear end.
