Hi all, I did my 'hard' landing just over 2 weeks ago and wanted to share my experience with the forum long post ahead o:


Driving Licence: I have had a UK licence for over 2 years so I was able to exchange this for a full G for a fee of $90 after passing an eye test. The only documents required are the UK licence and Intl Passport. I was given a temporary slip and told to expect the driving licence within the next 14 days by post.

I am thinking of getting a Volkswagen Passat 2014 (Nigerian spec) I believe it is the B7 model. I have seen one that I will like to purchase with a good service history from the owner since he brought it brand new from Volkswagen Center. They replaced the speed sensors, flyboy and mechatronic gearbox within warranty period. The car has below 57k km. I will need advise this is a good car and suggestions on the best way to maintain this car since this will be my first Volkswagen car.

Note: The engine is a 1.8 TSI

I will go for the fx35 because regular maintenance (oil servicing) is the same cost with a Toyota and I am not getting happy on the cost of parts of a Toyota because they cost way more than a Honda part. The Venza parts and the fx35 parts are both costly at the same level. Sometimes the cost difference in parts can be between (3k to 15k). The fx35 is a beast and it is very well equipped compared to the Venza. I will suggest before buying the fx35, do a research for yourself and please make sure you find a very good Nissan/Infiniti mechanic because this is who the reliabilit on the car depends on.
